Kira Kira Crate “Feeling Good on the Go” September 2019 Review

This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great for me because the majority of the packaging isn’t written in English! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. This month’s theme is “Feeling Good on the Go,” so let’s see if the items inside are travel-worthy!

Adley Face Mist, 8.5 fl oz

We start off the box with an item that isn’t exactly travel-friendly, but I’m not complaining! At 8.5 fluid ounces, this sizable bottle is definitely not carry-on compliant, and to be honest, would be a bit heavy for a purse, but I do appreciate such a generously-sized item. This moisturizer contains hatomugi extract, which is derived from coix seeds, and has a pleasant, non-flowery smell that reminds me of high-end sunscreen. It’s not at all sticky and absorbs into skin quickly. While I won’t be toting this around anytime soon, I’ve perched it on my desk for now – I think I’ll be a nice little pick-me-up right before I hop on a video conference call.

Kose Refresh Wipes

I’m personally a big fan of facial cleansing wipes for when I travel! I try to be a bit more environmentally-conscious when I’m at home, but TSA-friendly wipes like these save me from hauling around yet another bottle of facial product. I don’t wear a lot of foundation or concealer when I travel, but these did a great job of removing the mascara and eyeshadow that I do typically wear.

Beauty Cotton Swab

I thought that these were particularly clever – who hasn’t occasionally bumped their makeup while they’re out and about and really needed to fix it up? I’m super-guilty of utterly forgetting when I’ve done a bold or complicated eye, and then I’ll leisurely rub my eyes and smear my eyeliner. These are great because you can stick them in a bag, and have access to makeup touch-ups without needing to go to a bathroom.

La France Pears Hand Jelly

I know that “jelly” isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about moisture, but as someone who has received this type of item before, I’m telling you – it’s awesome! The jelly is moisturizing but not sticky, and is light enough that I’m able to keep using it throughout the day without any funky build-up. This is a perfect size for a day bag, though I’d be cautious on a flight – I wasn’t able to find how many ounces were in this package in English. It appears that La France pears are a specialty in Japan for some of the year, and while I’m not sure what they’re supposed to smell like, this had a fruit-forward scent that wasn’t cloying and didn’t linger.

My Melody Makeup Pouch

I was so pumped to see my girl Melody, best friend of Hello Kitty and harbinger of all things adorable! Dressed up like Little Red Riding Hood, Melody is on a brightly colored, plastic material that’s a little larger than most makeup bags I normally see in subscription bags. My favorite part has to be the plastic material that makes up this little pouch; it would be super-easy to wipe down on the outside if it got wet, and if something spilled inside, it would be really easy to clean up.

Verdict: I always love when items fit into my everyday life, and even though I wouldn’t necessarily take a few of these on the road, everything was useful and fit into my lifestyle. The wipes and cotton swabs are going into my travel bag and staying there, and the spray is perfect for a quick mid-afternoon facial pep-talk, if you will. The makeup pouch is a great size and design, and hand jelly is always a welcome sight for me in a Kira Kira box!
