FabFitFun sends out a mini mag in each box. It details the items included and also provides background on some of the featured makers and designers. You’ll also find exclusive coupons for the brands featured in the box.

Now, time for the items! (If you aren’t familiar, FabFitFun lets subscribers pick several of their items each season – I’ll show you what I picked for each selection.)

First choice item:

All subscribers will be able to pick Plush Ultra Soft Plaid Scarf, amika Strand Perfect Ceramic Styler, or Anthropologie Travel Yoga Mat, or a mystery item.

My Pick:

Plush Ultra Soft Plaid Scarf – Listed Retail Value $75

I think this is the most “fall” item in the box, plus I can never get enough scarves, so this was an easy pick for me. Plus despite having an extensive scarf collection (thanks, subscription boxes), I don’t have any blue plaid options, so this is a new look, too. The scarf has a raw fringe edge and the fabric is 70% Polyester and 30% Viscose. (And it is very soft just like the name promises).

Second choice item:

All subscribers are able to pick the kate spade new york Lunch Tote, NassifMD® Detox Pads, The Kut from The Kloth Slim Striped Wallet, or Twine Cheese Board with Plate.

My Pick:

Kate Spade New York Lunch Tote – Retail Value $30

I LOVE that FabFitFun got a Kate Spade item as one of the options this season! It’s super cute and practical, too. (Plus it gives me Back to School vibes which ties into the Fall themed box I’m trying to make with my choices!)

This lunch tote measures 7″h x 8″w x 4.5″d, has an insulated interior, a coated linen cloth exterior (so it shouldn’t stain), and reads “Out to Lunch.” And the black polka dots with the gold zipper pull accents are a chic touch, too.

Third choice item:

All subscribers get to pick The Better Skin Co Skin Lava Magik, BaubleBar Ear Crawlers, or Cosmedix Pure C Vitamin C Mixing Crystals.

My Pick:

The Better Skin Co Skin Lava Magik– Retail Value $32

I picked this item because it’s ingredient-conscious (they follow the ingredient guidelines set by Whole Foods) and because I can always use an exfoliating product. (If it ends up being too harsh for my face, I use it as a body scrub.) I really like the sweet orange essential oil scent, and I found this worked well for me as an exfoliator 2 times a week. (If you have sensitive skin, I definitely recommend patch testing first, and I saw in reviews that some people had reactions to using this as a mask, so I stuck to using it as an exfoliator.)

The tub is on the tiny side, but you only need a small amount, so it should last a while, too.

Fourth choice item:

Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Roller Ball, Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask 6 Pack, or SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner.

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

My Pick:

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Masks – Retail Value $25

I’ve sampled these before and they are great, so I had to pick them. They are super gentle and soothing, plus they are ingredient-conscious! (Paraben-free, Phthalate-free, Synthetic fragrance-free, and cruelty-free!)

They come in a plastic disc to help keep things as non-messy as possible – and I love the gold foil. (As far as masks go, I’d say these are the most selfie-friendly ones I’ve come across.)  You wear them for just 10 minutes, and they stay in place so well. (If you’ve ever worn eye masks that keep sliding off your face, I’m sure you can apprecaite this feature!) The formula has a faint (natural) lavender scent and is designed to help with hydration and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I’ve been using these every day before I put on makeup and it’s such an easy addition to my morning routine.

Fifth choice item:

(Annual subscribers get to pick their item. Seasonal subscribers will be surprised.)

Eparé Dual Salt and Pepper Mill, Afterspa Hair Towel Wrap, trèStiQue Mini Eye Essentials – Set of 4, or  Skinvolve Body Boost Gel.

My Pick:

Eparé Dual Salt and Pepper Mill – Retail Value $21.95

I picked the salt and pepper mill since I’m almost always going to pick a home item when I get the chance, and this looked both stylish and practical. It was super simple to add the salt and pepper (FYI you’ll need to supply the salt and pepper – this doesn’t come with it). I’ve been using it every day, and it’s definitely an upgrade over my Trader Joe’s Salt + Pepper grinders!

Now that we’ve gone through all the choice options, here are the items all subscribers will receive:

Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes in Juice Cleanse – Value Listed $16

(All subscribers get this item.)

I’ve actually been wanting to try these body scrub cubes for a while now, so I was very happy to see these in the box. (Basically, you can think of each cube as a single serving size of body scrub.) I found applying the cube directly to my skin to be a bit on the harsh side, but that makes it perfect for rough skin around my ankles and feet. You can also break the cube down with water before applying, which makes it a bit gentler in my opinion. The scent is sweet but not overpowering, and it didn’t linger. Also, this scrub isn’t the kind that leaves your skin oily, so it’s great to use as a prep step before self tanner.

Human + Kind Body Souffle – Retail Value $18

(All subscribers get this item.)

This is a generously sized body lotion! It’s an ingredient-conscious formulation made with apricot oil and shea butter (cruelty-free and no parabens). I was legit impressed with how quickly it absorbed – it left my skin feeling moisturized with zero greasiness. And I found the scent to be light and pleasant, too.

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair – Retail Value $30

(All subscribers get this item.)

I think this is one of the few times I’ve ever seen Aveda in a subscription box – impressive! And this cream smells SO good! It’s designed to help prevent against heat damage, and it’s ingredient-conscious, too. I’ve been using it every day and I probably will end up buying more once this tube is done – I like it that much. This was probably my favorite discovery in the box!

Verdict: This box has a value of $211-$330+ depending on which items you pick. I think that’s great for $49.99. (It works out to $6.25 an item). This is definitely a box where once I have all the items in my hands and I’ve used them, I like it even more than when I first saw the spoilers. I think my only critiques of this box are that 1. it didn’t feel very seasonal (though I tried my best to pick the items I felt had the most fall vibes), 2. it seemed pretty skincare/beauty heavy (which might not be for everyone) and 3. there didn’t seem to be a hero item.

Of course, the flip side to those critiques is that FabFitFun offers more customization than any other subscription, and you can make a box more seasonal if you want with their Add-Ons, too.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? As of today, 9/12, yes! (You’ll be able to make your product selections after you sign up.)

  1. I just re-subbed as a seasonal subscriber for $25. I chose the scarf, the Kate Spade lunchbox, and the ear crawlers (because the lava magik was sold out, which was annoying, and which you can’t find out in advance). But the ear crawlers will be a good gift for my son’s girlfriend if they don’t work for me. Have no idea what I’ll get for the other choices, but for $25, it’s a good deal. The RV of the Aveda product alone is more than $25, and since I use a curling iron every day, I look forward to trying it. Not sure I’ll stay subscribed though.

    • Nobody will ever read this…I looked back to find one of Liz’s last reviews. I just miss your reviews, I really valued your opinions. Oh well!! Take care!!

  2. The only product I really, really wanted to know about was the Lava Magik. But that was hardly a “review” if you can even call it that. “I like the scent and use it twice a week”? 💩

  3. I have to give FFF some love. I saw a commercial and decided to subsribe to FFF. This is my first subscription experience. Then I decided to do some research and my first thought was “What have I gotten myself into”. After reading several reviews I saw there was a Laborday code where you not only got $10.00 off but a Mystery Bundle. I chatted with CS online and hey honored the new code and added the Mystery Bundle! My Fall Box shipped within a week of my order much to my surprise after reading all the horror stories about deliveries! I got my box today and am very happy with all my goodies. I did have a Mystery choice and received the Deep Exfoliating Glove and Dermelect Sleep Serum. My Mystery Bundle has not shipped but is showing in my orders. I am so happy with FFF that I signed my future daughter in law up last night with the FALL50 code! I hope this kind of service continues!

And….. I am so hooked now on all the subscription choices….. thinking about BOS and PSMH😀 This really is an addiction😜

  4. Ordered with the Fall50 code. When I saw the offer I jumped on it. I always think of my DIL as I don’t need any more stuff (household items in particular.) Some of her Christmas shopping is now done… 🙂

  5. I selected the flat iron and now it says I’m getting a mystery item??? Mystery item wasn’t even an option for that category I’m pissed if the straightener doesn’t come tomorrow

    • I have the flat iron. I would trade you

    • Yea I didn’t even order because the flat irons said they were sold out =(

  6. The amika hair straightener was the one item I was looking forward to, and it’s lousy. I’m going back to my old one. The Kate Spade lunch bag is too small for lunches. I do like the make up and skin care choices that they offer; but the non-makeup stuff is pretty disappointing. I won’t re-up next year.

    • Curious what was wrong with the Amika straightener? I haven’t used mine yet cause I rarely do my hair (it is so hot in TX that I just let it air dry).

The hair towel (that I was excited to get cause I use them like crazy) broke before the 2nd use. I was really upset cause it really did help my hair dry faster.

I also got the lunch bag. I like it but I don’t love it. I find myself switching between bags because, yes, it is not wide enough (from front to back). I also wish it had a shoulder strap.

The lotion and sugar cubes are probably going to be gifted. I detest Aveda products, they just make me feel greasy all over, so it is going to be gifted as well.

The roller ball I’ve used a few times and got a 2nd one for a friend (via ebay) who is an imsomniac. She says it does relax her. And the earrings I have worn once, but will wear them again.

      • Stephanie, I’d love the Aveda if you’re interested in a swap or how much would you sell it for? Thanks!

      • Christy. Not sure my last post went through. I’ll def swap. Never have before. Just don’t know how.

      • Trying to add link to my swap page below.

  7. This is my third box after I got an annual subscription. I have been fortunate enough to get everything on time, nothing missing or broken, and I have been pleased with the products & selection. I will probably not renew simply because I just get too much stuff already. Reading about all the problems, complaints was a real bummer. I enjoyed Liz’s review and going forward I will stick to the reviews & skip the comments.

    • Reviewers are the advertisers for the boxes… they always get top tier customer service and the top selections for products. It’s the regular customers that show the real CS and issues that arise. Comments show the nitty gritty and can show all the issues. I think knowing of others issues is far more beneficial. I would rather know the *what ifs* than be shocked

      • There’s some truth to that, but I think it’s also the case that dissatisfied customers – whether it be due to product quality or a bad experience with CS – tend to be the most vocal. I’ve always had a good experience with FFF and even had a good experience with their CS yesterday, but truth be told, it didn’t occur to me to come on here and post about it. When I have a bad experience with a box, I feel the need to warn everyone.

      • I appreciate your written review! It’s much quicker to read than it is to watch a loong drawn out youtube review.

  8. Mystery bundles never peak my interest. FFF has A LOT of crap. And from past experiences they use the left over crap to make their “mystery bundles”. If it was anything mind blowing, they would let you know what it is. That way they would sell many more than they do without revealing what’s in the bundle.

  9. I signed up yesterday but noticed the amika straightener is not available so I used live chat to cancel. It was a complete nightmare. she kept telling me that they absolutely do not do any cancellations and that since my credit card has already been charged there is nothing she can do. It was 5 minutes after I signed up and I had not even completed picking the items! She said instead of canceling she would give me $5 off the next box 🙄 I told her I know for a fact they can cancel and refund my money and she put me on hold for a while and then told me that I was really getting a good deal because it was over $200 in items for only $40 and she doesn’t understand why I wouldn’t want to keep the box. I told her because the jewelry and the makeup and skincare brands that they carry are overinflated retail value and usually they are brands that no one has even heard of. I told her I have no interest in a cheese tray or a ridiculously overpriced scarf and that the only thing in the box that is good is the Aveda damage remedy and that is the only thing I would use so it is not worth it for me to get this box. Finally after putting me on hold yet again she said she will go ahead and respect my wishes and cancel my order and issue a refund.

    • What a lovely introduction to the company!

Their customer service is so remarkably inconsistent, they really a total overhaul on that front. The outcome of an issue should not depend on the luck of the draw as to which CS rep happens to pick up your call, but sadly that’s the way it is with them.

I’m sorry (but sadly, not super surprised) that you first (and last!) CS interaction was so lousy.

    • My roommate used to get FFF and once they charged her for 2 boxes. When she asked for a refund they said it wasn’t possible and sent her 2 boxes anyway, one of which she couldn’t even choose what was inside.
I also saw the items she got and most of the lifestyle items looked cheap with overinflated prices (like a robe that had a tear even though it was only worn around the house a few times and a cheap backpack that easily could’ve cost like $10 at Ross but retailed for over $50 according to FFF I believe). If I personally subbed to FFF I think I’d do it for the skin/hair/body care items as those seem to be the only items worth it for me

  10. I love he fff box. I will use all 8 items and at $6.25 per item, it’s a great deal! I love trying new things from them. I discovered I couldn’t shower without the cubes, for example, and got 4 bottles. 😂

I have had missing and broken items and shipping issues, but usually it’s for other sale or add-on items, so I have seriously scaled back on those, to avoid the annoyance of having to contact CS multiple times.

For a lovely, reasonably priced box to try new things, it’s my favorite.

    • winter 019 is the worst box ever. same old items nothing new or interesting I rate this a big fat zero

      • Winter box hasn’t come out yet. The boxes that were just delivered were the fall boxes

  11. I forgot to go in and make my choices so I was dreading opening my box. I got a full size Exfolikate as the mystery item(didn’t want any of 3 choices, but would have never chosen mystery), detox pads(would have chosen), pure c(again would have chosen), trestique (would have chosen), aromatherapy (1 of the 3 that I would have liked) so it turned out to be a great box for me!

  12. Must be awesome to get these subscription boxes for free just for giving a good review of the box and items I closed. I’m disabled with nothing to do all day. I’d love to get stuff to review.

    • It is awesome to get boxes for free but it’s harder work than it seems.

    • @kelly Nothing is *free* Reviewers work really darn hard setting up a fan base, consistent reviews and they spend a lot of $$$ starting up. They pay crazy money for boxes at the beginning. It’s *only* when they have put in the time and money do the companies start sending the stuff- and then is legit free advertising for them!! So really- the notion of them getting stuff for free is wide of the mark.

  13. There has been a delay in shipping. I only recently received my summer edit box. It got to a point where I was convinced it had been stolen or delivered to the wrong address. Maybe the fall boxes got out quicker but there has definitely been issues with them switching out fulfillment locations.

  14. To be honest, this is one of favourite FFF boxes to date and that was totally unexpected! I went with the mystery item and received a Dr. Brandt facial cleanser and Dermelect foot treatment cream. Couldn’t be happier! Also went with the ear climbers, Nassif MD detox facial pads, and Wander eye masks, all of which I like a lot. The only misses for me were the Aveda hair product and the Trestique eye crayons (I chose the latter because nothing else in that tier excited me) but both are giftable so no loss. The overwhelming majority of the items in this season’s box are big wins for me so, despite an iffy Autumn themed curation, I’m totally pleased.

  15. Liz, it’s “morning routine”, not “mourning routine”.

    • Oops! Thank you!

    • I don’t know, I tend to mourn having to get ready for work every morning…

      • Me too…lol

  16. Fall was a huge disappointment for me. It’s basically a bunch of random stuff tossed into a box – the scarf is nice, but that’s about it. Those cubes are utterly ridiculous, I used one in the shower and am tossing the rest away. The salt/pepper mill is attractive but not well-made, I’m sure it will be broken within a few months. I loved the summer box, this one was a real letdown for me. Here’s hoping that winter is a good one – the hint of a faux fur blanket cheered me up some.

    • I agree it was not a pure “fall” curation, but I liked it much more than I anticipated. I needed a flat iron and like the Amika one. So it was a win for me off the top. I will use most of what I received. I was happy not to get fitness or kitchen items, like the Kate Spade tote, and adore Aveda. It was objectively a much better box for me than Summer. Luckily, we all like different things!

    • Liz I am honestly shocked by your comment of the delayed shipping. From the community it seems to be a very very small number of people. I got my fall box in my fastest shipment yet, weeks ago and even received a replacement and stuff I ordered in the shop too. I am loving the new warehouse. Also I subscribe to several other similar subscriptions and have rarely seen a critical review from you. Your review of this box surprised me. Hope to see more critical reviews of other subs too if that’s what you are going for.

      • Respectfully Susie, I personally received two delayed shipping emails from FFF. I don’t think the note about shipping is critical at all. Just an honest statement about what some people are saying and a promise to update.

      • Hi Susie,

I personally haven’t had any issues with my orders from FabFitFun either, but many of our readers have brought this up, so I wanted to include it in the review. And I really liked this box – sorry if that didn’t come across in the verdict. I just thought I should call out some of the issues I could see people having with the box.

      • If you go onto the community page on FFF’s own website you will see that there are still a bunch of people still waiting for summer items (from the edit sale, editor’s box and even the quarterly box). I’m talking beach towels, pool floats, etc. that were bought and paid for 2+ months ago and will now arrive in the Fall, if ever. There’s been a ton of miscommunication, out of stock items and false promises and people have been beyond frustrated, understandably. I’m hopeful the tide has turned now and the new warehouse system will eliminate most of these issues but the growing pains were REALLY showing for a while there.

It’s awesome that you weren’t affected but many people were (and still are). I did not read Liz’s comment as being critical, just truthful, as she has been about many other boxes with comparable issues (Ex. Rachel Zoe).

People appreciate the honesty of MSA. It’s nice to know that this site isn’t always just one big bought and paid for, flowery commercial for every single sub box every single time.

      • I guess I feel it’s important to quantify the number if possible. Out of nearly a million members with summer and obviously a lesser amount of that participated in the summer edit — what is a bunch? Some? That are affected by shipping + issues mentioned
I am an active member of the community. A loud and vocal upset group can make the numbers seem larger than they appear. I just expected the FYI potential problem with shipping would have posted earlier if at all.
At time when reviewing boxes I would like to see the honest critique sometimes when it is due for boxes with CB and PSMH.

      • I respectfully disagree with your criticism of Liz and her team. I’ve found that they are pretty honest in their reviews, but keep in mind, these are opinions and can vary. Just because you don’t agree, or even the masses don’t agree, does not mean that their opinions are invalid.

Furthermore, people look here for issues such as the ones that many have had with FFF. I think expecting Liz to quantify this with actual figures is unrealistic as she doesn’t have access to FFF data. It is a known issue and she is helping others by saying this might be a problem. I personally like to know these things before I spend money so that I can make choices with as much information as possible.

      • I think the only people with accurate insight into the true number of people experiencing issues with FFF would be those that actually work for FFF, and why would the company ever want to disclose that.

And even at that, FFF did not seem to have a solid grip on their own issues for awhile there (and seemingly still, to some degree) so there is a decent chance they themselves would not be able to provide an accurate count.

But just for some perspective…I have 6 friends that subscribe and every single one of them, plus I, had issues with the summer edit sale and three of them are still trying to work them out. So based on my tiny and laughably inadequate sample size, 87.5% of my quantifiably known subscriber base have had issues in the last 2 months (my six friends plus I did versus you, who did not).

Obviously I’m laughing about my silly, totally unscientific subscriber sample, but my points are (1j I think it’s impossible to accurately estimate the scope of the problems at FFF but I think they are common enough that it is worth noting and (2) I truly appreciate Liz and her team for the honest comment.

I’m not trying to snarky at all, but the last thing I think we should do is discourage honest comments and/or reviews of a company, be it with their boxes or their operations. It’s one of the reasons people are so appreciative of this website.

      • Susie, glad you have gotten yours but I still haven’t gotten mine. I got a delayed shipping email weeks ago and nothing since and it hasn’t shipped in my account. Of course, neither have whatever is left of the summer edit items they aren’t sold out of yet. I don’t have a refund either.

      • Susie, “shocked?” Really? Liz does an outstanding job of keeping her readers informed of issues, something she seems to take pride in and is appreciated by many. I admittedly do not follow the FFF community but am in some swap groups on social media and people have not received their boxes or have had issues. As for me, I have been an annual subscriber for over 3 years and lately have had a (real) issue with every single box (e.g., things arrived shattered) and I was missing an item from the fall ’19 box, incidentally the one thing I was looking forward to the most. After contacting CS, they wanted a photo of the box to “prove” it and told me it would take 3 weeks for them to ship a replacement (ship, not receive). I said this was unacceptable, particularly given the literal half-dozen of issues in the past year (for me) and was informed the warehouse system is not up to speed yet but would poop rainbows if I’m just patient. I remarked that I’ve spent at least $2k in subs and add-ons over the past few years and that they are ThisClose to losing that. The response was a lukewarm “oh no! please give us another chance.” Not a chance. I’m canceling as soon as my replacement item arrives.

  17. I skipped this box. I either have it (lotion/lunch bag) or don’t need it (scarf/salt shaker).

  18. I got this box and immediately cancelled. While I liked a lot of the things, I thought the *HERO* item was going to be the Amika hair tool. I love a lot of Amika’s product, shampoo, conditioner, dry shampoo, hair mask etc. BUT this straightener is the worst one I’ve ever used! It grabs your hair, makes it stick, and pulls it out! I am a pro with a straightener, I curl my hair with it! This one was terrible and I feel like I should just chuck it. Very sad about it too

  19. My initial love for the subscription concept was the idea of getting a swag bag of treats, for little or nothing. The thrill of getting a goodie bag when buying something from a department store makeup counter…
This is spending $50 at TJ Maxx, without going to TJ Maxx, and limited product and the thrill of discovering something on your own.
Little discoveries for $10 is much more exciting than useless choices for $50.

  20. Their blow up dishonest retail value of the scarf has turned me off from FFF for life. Items are way too often blown up in value but, this one probably is the worst.
As well as some getting shipments really late, the flip side to that is, some have received as many has over a dozen.. which of course isn’t a negative for some! Lol… But wow, FFF has some serious issues lately.

    • Yup, though this price comes from the company who sells these items on their website but who knows if it was just added because of FFF. There is no chance in hell this is $75. It’s 70% polyester and made in China. Yuk!

  21. What is a hero item? Never heard the term before. It wasn’t my favorite box, but I didn’t hate it, honestly. The straightener alone was worth the cost, and I’m using the lunch box daily.

    • I noticed your question hasn’t been answered so, I thought I’d give it a try.
A Hero item in any sub box is also known as a, “Big Ticket Item”. Something that may stand out truly in value or Full Sized loved item. Like a full Sunday Riley product is always considered a Hero item or maybe a Too Faced Palette.
      Hope this definition helps you.

      • Just got my box and I am sorely disappointed. Everything that I selected and wanted I did not receive. I even wound up getting a mystery item (face cleanser) which I can’t even use because of sensitive instead of the other first choice items. This has been the worst box that I’ve gotten so far.

  22. I was not looking forward to this box at all, but once I got it, I loved it. I got the flat iron, which works well. Not high end but it does the job. I love the Aveda hair cream. I got the lunch bag which I’m going to gift. I really like the lava makic, the body cream, the sugar cubes, and the aromatherapy roller. The only meh is the eyeshadow sticks – they crease very easily on me. It’s not exactly fall, but I’ll use everything.

  23. I did not get this box but if I received everything that Liz did I’d be very happy. I’d use everything except the lunch box. Now I’ll just try and swap for some of the items.

  24. I think FFF missed the decimal point on the retail price of their scarf. Instead of the ridiculous price of $75, I think the true wholesale price from China is .75 cents and their retail price to consumers is $7.50…a fancy shop might be $17.50.

Seriously FFF, anyone with half a brain can see the ridiculousness in this price….

    • I’m sorry but our trash pickup day was yesterday. The items I didn’t like are gone.
I do this with every sub box I get- it’s nothing personal. I just throw out what I know I won’t use, or it piles up.

Our local womens’ shelter has put a moratorium on ALL donations except cash, and I send enough seasonal clothing to the Goodwill to outfit quite a few women very nicely.

      • You could save many of these items for Toys for Tots as gifts for older teen girls!

      • Or even keep a box of unwanted items to donate to your local child welfare agency. My office loved donations like this at the holidays to put together gifts for kiddos in foster homes, or the ones still in the under privileged homes we worked in. Also, check out the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. You could a few teens really happy with your unwanted sub-box items.

      • Sometimes I get so mad at myself for getting all this junk I just want to throw it away!!

      • This makes me sad. I would love that ring and the popcorn and tea! To hear that you threw it away in the garbage sounds so wasteful. I know it’s yours to do what you please with, but wow. First world problems.

      • Yep! Nobody else’s business. I’m about to end up throwing out a FFF Box full of stuff from subs nobody wants here, in swaps and in the last year, shelters have changed what can and can’t be donated. Second hand stores, not in retail packaging, it’s trash. Thought I would donate to the free holiday shop as I have in the past. But, that’s changed too. I used to be able to drop off about 2 miles away. Now, it’s make an appointment and drive 30 minutes away just so they can pick through what I have and that’s Catholic charities.

      • I don’t blame you one bit. I found out that most of the stuff I donated last year at Christmas was tossed in the trash because if it’s not in original retail packaging, it’s trash. It’s your money, your stuff, your time, your business. I quit recycling when I found out that I’m paying extra for that and it doesn’t actually even get recycled.

      • Sad 🙁

  25. I used to love this box, and fall was the most anticipated. Nothing about this box says fall and it’s glaringly TJ Maxx, no hero item. I cancelled after 4 years and have zero regret. I would love to see FFF get it together again.

    • I signed up, then immediately called to quit because none of the choices I wanted were available a week or two ago. Their customer service people are at a Philippine call canter, FYI. I wish MSA would stop posting this, because it is misleading at this point. You can’t choose MOST of these options at this point.

  26. I haven’t bothered to read the full review on this, I just scrolled to Liz’s summary. If you read her reviews enough, you know she will try to find the positive in any box while nicely talking about the negatives…. this is one of those times. You shouldn’t have to try to make your box more seasonal by spending more money in add-ons.

  27. I think the box is worth the $… I can barely go out to eat without spending less then $40.

Box is totally worth it. Most of the time anything we buy is just a waste & never used much.

  28. I posted in the summer that I’d never subscribe to FFF again.. I had just bought an Annual subscription and basically had some choices that were not well- suited for my needs.

They were extremely gracious to cancel the Annual subscription before the first box shipped, so I got a total refund. I can say that I’ll never think selection of 2 or 3 products or being first in line with them is worth paying full price.
However, there are a couple of items I chose which I really like, and have a set retail value that hardly ever is reduced.

I guess it evens out to always be a fun box if the buyer likes the curation in general.

I always seem to compare FFF to PSMH, as I bought the first and subsequent boxes of both.
PSMH can usually back up their retail values when I’m looking at the item’s company website or retailer price. I often can’t do that with FFF ( the scarf which is SO inexpensive on the western world’s largest shopping site is a prime example of a non-branded item that’s $50 inflated).
PSMH doesn’t always get ir just right either, depending on what a person likes.
I disposed of PSMH’s tea, popcorn and that ring yesterday as soon as I’d opened my box.
But, the purse made up for it, and I like the lipstick. The bag is perfect for my size and essentials.

Also, the color ” Dapple” is a pure dark grey. Matches the interior of my car.

    • Oh I would love that ring?! (And I drink tea daily)
If you still have it can I swap/pay shipping etc.?

    • What is PSMH? I would love to check it out.

      • Popsugar must have

    • I’m having a horrible experience with PSMH. Got the shipping notification for my box, but it never updated. I contacted them and it took days for them to get back to me only to be told that they’d have to check with the warehouse. It took several more days and emails to finally be told that they are going to reship my box and to be patient. I’ll believe it when I see it.

      • I really only have one complaint about this box because everything else can be swapped, gifted, donated etc. My only complaint is the lotion. I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever smelled anything that bad, other than the old formula SDJ Coco Cabana. I could smell it with the safety seal still on it…YUCK. I do feel like it’s worth the money, and I do like some of the items. Listen, FFF has their share of problems, but Idk of a sub box that’s 100% perfect, if you do let me know. I enjoy the add on and edit sales alone too much to drop this box. However, I would like to see some different brands.

      • @ MJ Me too with box! I’m worried about PSMH customer service since they are as slow to respond. I think there are many of us stuck in “processing” so it feels wrong that they have to check with the warehouse. My bet is they are going to switch us to Winter box.

      • While I’m not glad to hear it’s not just me, I’m glad to hear it’s not just me!

  29. I chose the mystery item in the first category and I was not happy with it. It was a box of masks. I will never use them. I wish I would have picked the scarf. I didn’t really need a scarf and I love a mystery so I went with that. Bad mistake

  30. Oh, just saw that I’ll get the $149 ” mystery bundle” for using the coupon.

Thanks, MSA, and here’s hoping it’s not leftover box stock I already have..:)

    • I will definitely be leftover stock. Fingers crossed it will be something you like though

  31. Yep. Glad I canceled too. My editors box was incomplete. Again, no replacements available so again, here’s a $10 credit. I’m sure that’s fine but not when you have already stated that you are done with a company and no longer want to do business with them. If this has happened to you, threaten them with a BBB contact and they will send you a list of products to choose from. I’m just done with most subs.

  32. Credit where credit is due: I cancelled well in advance of the deadline, but it got goofed up and they charged my credit card anyway. After a few emails they refunded me, but to my surprise the box turned up on my doorstep. When I contacted them about how they wanted me to return it, they told me to keep it. They could have just as easily emailed me a return shipping label, but they chose to invest in bringing me back as a customer. Nicely done.

  33. I had cancelled and have no regrets. I purchased the cheese board, yoga mat and body soufflé for CAD $40.

    • I bought the entire box for $40 USD. I like it when they have their seasonal discounts. 🙂
The Aveda product is the only thing that moved me to buy another box, though I did pick the cheese tray/ board as well.

      • But I don’t have leftover stuff that I can neither sell not gift.

  34. FFF is in the toilet as far as I’m concerned. Quality has gone down, shipping is laughable and customer service is non existent.
I’m STILL waiting on summer edit items. After numerous contact and calls with customer service over a several weeks long period they stated that my order would be on the way within 10 days. That was over 5 weeks ago. They then contacted me 3 days later and told me that besides 1 item, all the rest of my items were out of stock and i would be issued a refund within 5-7 days and given a $10.00 add on credit. It’s been over a month since then and they’ve only refunded me for 1 other item, and that was 2 1/2 weeks after the 5-7 day window. There are still several items I’m waiting to hear about a refund on. I know i need to call them again but i dread being on hold forever and then talking to someone who will just make me a bunch of empty promises. Oh, also, have i gotten the $10 promised add on credit? Of course not. I’m SO done with them. They took my money easily enough, lied to me, and now don’t give me my products or my money back. And yet they’re still taking on new customers and fulfilling fall orders. Wtf? A VERY DECEPTIVE COMPANY.

    • I feel your pain. I’m still waiting on replacement items from my Summer Box. I’ve been back and forth with customer service since the last week of June. They told me then that my replacement items were ordered, but I would have to wait for them to ship until after the warehouse reopened on July 9 or 10. July 15, I emailed back they said, oh delays because of the warehouse being down, everything will be shipped by the end of the month. August started, no items. I contacted customer service again, they said, oh that should have shipped already. I’m going to get with the warehouse team to make sure it goes out asap. August 15, still no items. I emailed again. This time it’s like a manager or something and they tell me they followed up, and it was supposed to be shipped, but it was put in the wrong place in the warehouse or some such crap, but they had gotten with the shipping department, and it would be shipped asap. September 5, still no shipping information. I emailed again. This time, they tell me that this whole time, the package has been sitting because they had run out of the mystery item that was supposed to have gone in with it. This is the mystery item from the Summer Box. They literally could have put anything in it’s place! It’s a mystery item! So they say they have processed the order for a replacement item in place of the no longer available mystery item, and everything will ship asap. Guess what? It’s all still pending shipment. I have been a member of fabfitfun for five years, and my subscription runs out in the Spring. I am so done with them. The level of incompetence is absolutely astonishing.

      • That’s beyond crazy! I have been prepared ahead of time to be patient with shipping but after two years I cancelled before this fall box, and finally got my summer edit items. Until the quality matches the stated value and the shipping sorts out I’m going to stay cancelled.

    • I finally took a friends advice and mentioned going to the BBB about it, problem resolved within 48 hrs. I’m shocked. Now, I just wait for my consolation item to be shipped…

  35. Definitely not their best box.

    • totally agree. I was on vacation the entire time we could chose products and did not check email so I missed the oportunity to chose and they picked. I received almost all beauty products, only 2 items weren’t. in my past boxes I never chose beauty products so I would think they would look at your past history if you do not chose. I feel I received all the leftovers of items not chosen. horrible box for me. sad I wasn’t available for the time to chose.

  36. I’m enjoying the items in this practical box. My mystery item was the GA cream which I’m thrilled about! Nearly everything has gotten used so that makes a box good to me 🙂

    • Sorry, what’s the GA cream? I picked the mystery item for the first choice too and I can’t wait to find out what it is!

      • Grown Alchemist

      • I picked the mystery item and received a Dr. Brandt face cleanser and Dermalect foot treatment cream, both of which I love and been using religiously since they arrived. Very pleased with the mystery items this quarter!

  37. I’ve been a long time subscriber of FFF but after this box, I cancelled. It wasn’t curated to represent the season. I was disappointed, like no thought went into the box. I’m keeping Ipsy for skincare and make-up and Box of Style for lifestyle and fashion. Thanks for the wonderful review.

  38. This is only my second FFF box but i really love it & love to have the ability to choose everything.

    I’m annual and I chose

Amika hair straightener (even prettier in person, coral pink color. I like my Chi better because this one feels like it’s yanking on my hair, not as smooth as the Chi. My hair does get straight & it is soft after using this though)

Cheese board (super cute & my husband & I love charcuterie boards & I’ve needed those tiny knives for a million different snack foods before)

Cosmedix crystals (I haven’t used yet but I like the idea that you can add it to stuff you already use)

Wander eye masks (I have been wanting to try an eye mask so I was really excited for these. Going to use them tomorrow.)

Eye essentials set (I love the brow pen it makes it easy to fill in my bare spots & the shadows blend well & last all day)

I really like the sugar cubes. I used it by rubbing the cube directly on my skin and I thought it was great and less messy than other scrubs. It smells amazing!

I’m not a fan of Aveda products smell & I have a million heat protectors to work through so I’ll probably put this up for sale or add to a Christmas gift.

I haven’t tried to body soufflé yet. Im working on clearing up KP and can’t use other lotions at this time. (If anyone knows something that works on KP please let me know 😭)

For add ons I chose the clear acne bar which is what I’m using to try to clear up my arms at the moment. I cannot say if it’s working or not yet but I’ve been using it daily for 6 days now. 🤞🏼 My first ever Spongelle in blackberry which I cannot use until I’m done with my clear bar but it does smell good! And also a konjac face sponge. I like it so far, makes my skin feel smoother. It feels kind of slimy though, I cannot find anything about if there is product in it??

    • I’ve worked in a salon in college and my best friend is an aesthethician. I’ve always understood that kp bumps on back of arms are due to built up, dry, dead skin cells that needs to be exfoliated. Try using something w a bit of scrubbing power (+ soap) like a back brush, or i found an eco-tools foot paddle w a bristle brush on one side and the pumice stone on the other side. I don’t use it for my feet at all…instead i use the bristle brush side to scrub (w natural soap) and exfoliate my back, back of arms, etc. Keep up on it when you shower, but don’t over scrub and irritate…just scrub enough to scrub away itchy dead skin cells.

      • I wonder if one of the Korean exfoliating gloves might help. FFF has offered the Dermasuri one in a few of their sales. It definitely sloughs away dead skin so I’m thinking it might help with KP.

Or maybe that ORG body peel? That stuff sort of has the same result as the dermasuri mitt.

        Good luck!

    • For KP i found the only products that work for me are SkinFix (I get them at Sephora- the scrub and the body lotion). After the first time using I literally screamed with surprise, it made that much of a difference. The containers are huge and will last forever. Been using for three months and haven’t even made a dent in them. It’s a Canadian brand, clean ingredients. No idea why kind of magic it is, but it works.

    • Paula’s choice has some body products with AHA or BHA for KP.

    • There is no product inside the sponge. I stocked up on a few as add-ons. The texture takes some getting used to, just the way it is naturally. I noticed my skin feels smoother, too. I love my slimy konjac!

      • Dandruff shampoo helps remove KP.

  39. My first choice mystery item was missing from my box. I emailed cs and they responded quickly and are sending me a replacement. I’m happy with the quick response! Overall I’m happy with my box. I’m quarterly and received the salt and pepper grinder and the eye masks. Not sure I’ll use the grinder, but I’m excited to try the eye masks.

  40. Scarf is cute…but FFF’s 75$ price tag is beyond laughable. One of the things I always disliked about them is their redic “retail prices”. The Kate Spade tote is nice though!

    • I picked the scarf ( because I would not like or use the two other choices) but have seen the same one on Amazon for less than $15 shipped free.
