Cocotique “Summer Essentials” July 2019 Review
This month’s Cocotique box features summer essentials. These pampering self-care products will help keep you looking your very best during the hot summer months!
The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box and provides information on where to purchase the products online. I appreciate when boxes make the extra effort to provide this information.
Cleanlogic Exfoliating Stretch Bath & Shower Gloves, Pink – Estimated Value $4.01 (Buy a pack of 2 here for $8.03)
These shower gloves have textured fibers to gently scrub and deeply cleanse your skin. It turns dry and dull skin into skin that feels smooth and looks hydrated.
I love that these gloves come in a pair – others I have only come with one glove. They fit a little tight on my hands, but the texture of these gloves is perfect. They’re not too rough or scratchy and because you’re able to use both hands, and it doesn’t take a long time to get in a good scrub. My skin looks and feels amazing after using these gloves.
Sunday Rain Watermelon Bubble Bath, 15.2 fl oz – Retail Value $6.99
This refreshing and energizing watermelon-scented bubble bath will take your bath time from bland to luxurious! These bubbles are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly.
This bubble bath smells like a watermelon Jolly Rancher candy! A small amount created an enormous amount of bubbles in my oversized tub. The kids love it! I tend to choose more calming and relaxing scents for my baths.
Reshma Beauty Kale Face Wash, 5.07 oz – Retail Value $5.99
This vegan face wash is infused with antioxidant-rich kale that has detoxifying and illuminating properties. This wash promises to rejuvenate and brighten skin and help prevent sun damage.
This face wash has a light scent and a silky texture like aloe vera gel. I found it to be a little too drying for my face but, given my love for repurposing products, I found that it works well as a body wash.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Hair Polisher Serum, 6 fl oz – Retail Value $6.95
Palmer’s finishing serum for dry, damaged or color-treated hair promises to tame frizz, add high gloss, and leave hair feeling silky smooth. It’s made with natural coconut, monoi, and marula oils and none of the bad stuff like sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and mineral oils.
This oil is excellent! It’s light, not too thick or greasy, and really does leave my hair feeling smooth. It’s a great summer and scalp oil. This is the best Palmer’s product I’ve tried. I’m impressed with this hair polish.
Palmer’s Skin Success GLOW Water Lily Face Cream, 2.7 oz – Retail Value $7.95
This perfecting face cream balances tone for a flawless and luminous complexion. It promises to visibly improve discoloration, improve clarity, and leave skin brighter and more radiant.
I like that this cream isn’t too thick and has a fresh scent that’s barely noticeable. I didn’t notice any improvement in my skin discoloration, but it does say that this product produces results in 2-4 weeks. Maybe more long-term use is needed.
Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Eyelash and Eyebrow Growth Serum, 2 oz – Retail Value $19.99
This serum, made with 100% natural Jamaican black castor oil, claims to boost the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes. It promises thicker more luscious lashes and eyebrows in just three weeks.
I’m a big fan of JBCO but the design of this product is a bit flawed. JBCO is very thick and there is no way to limit the amount of oil that gets on the mascara wand. The instructions suggest using the wand on your eyebrows first (my guess is to wick away some of the oil) before applying to your eyelashes. However, my eyebrows grow at lightning speed! When I tried to apply the oil to my eyelashes only, it was very messy. With too much product, I risked getting oil in my eyes. I suggest skipping the wand and using your fingers to gently apply this oil.
Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil Knot Free Forever Leave-In Conditioner, 4 oz – Retail Value $6.99
Sunny Isle leave-in, made with 100% natural Jamaican black castor oil, promises to help moisturize and detangle hair. The JBCO also stimulates hair growth.
This leave-in is a little too thin for my daughter’s very thick hair but it does have a good amount of slip to help with detangling and a bit of shine. I’m surprised that this small bottle is a full-sized product considering how much we used for one wash!
Miss Jessie’s Leave-in Condish – Retail Value $2.00
Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls – Retail Value $2.00
Leave-In Condish is a leave-in conditioner and detangler that tames frizz, moisturizes natural hair, and leaves curls soft and shiny. Jelly Soft Curls is a styler designed to leave your curls soft, shiny, and crunch-free.
Miss Jessie’s products are cult favorites and are known to be high-quality products. However, these super small samples will do nothing for the massive amount of thick natural hair we have. My son is growing a mohawk, so I’ll plan to try these products out on his short hair. We’ll see if it’s worth purchasing the larger sizes for me and my daughter.
The Verdict: This was a great box from Cocotique! I like the variety of curated products in this month’s box. My favorites are the Palmer’s coconut hair polish serum and the Cleanlogic exfoliating bath gloves. My kids’ favorite is the Sunday Rain watermelon bubble bath. I also appreciate the excellent quality Sunny Isle JBCO which I’m currently using on my edges. The other products were fine too – nothing missed the mark for me this month and that’s impressive!
This Cocotique beauty box costs $25 with free shipping. I estimate the total value to be $62.87. This is lower than the last few months but has more products and most are full-size items. With an estimated value at 2.5x the cost of the box, this makes the box a good value overall.
