Monthly XIO Bag August 2019 Review

The theme of this month’s box is “Let’s Get Nauti,” featuring five fashionable pieces with a nautical twist.

On the back of the info card, XIO lists each item featured as well as what each accessory is made of and its retail value. Each piece is made up of 925 sterling silver, and the gold pieces are plated 925 sterling silver.

The Knotty Bangle – Retail Value $40

I’ve always loved the look of knotted jewelry. The way that this bangle is shaped could possibly fit an array of small wrist sizes, but it isn’t the easiest to bend to get on and off. Its wide shape wouldn’t do any favors for any girthy wrists out there; I had to stretch these bangles wider then tighten them back up to make them fit comfortably. Luckily I like the way these look at the top of my wrist since they didn’t fit too far down my arm. This chunky bangle is probably the only bangle I’ve owned that doesn’t look lost when you wear it alone on your wrist. I like the two together, too, or you could pair it with other simple pieces.

“Lil’ Sailor Gal” Necklace – Retail Value $48

Who could resist a gem-encrusted anchor bobble? How precious! These shiny CZ charms light right up in the sunshine, and I absolutely love that each charm is fastened into the chain instead of sliding all over the place; this keeps me from having to twist my necklace around all day long, and I just think it is a better look altogether. XIO always provides a generous extender to all of their necklaces so you can wear them at whatever length you like.

The Knotty Studs – Retail Value $15

These knotted studs are so cute! They are a little thicker than any knotted jewelry I’ve seen, but I really like the look. I wore the silver and gold together and received a few compliments on my look.

“Seas the Day” Hoops – Retail Value $55

These hoops are a little chunkier than I usually like; if they were a little longer, I probably wouldn’t like them, but since they are short hoops, I actually think they look pretty classy. The delicate twist of the metal adds interest to what would otherwise be a boring, everyday set of hoops, and although they are thick, they are not heavy on my sensitive ears.

“Call Me Captain” Choker – Retail Value $55

Chic chains are so underrated; this twisted version is a shiny reminder that sometimes less is more. They could be worn with other necklaces for a multifaceted layered look or just worn alone for a subtle, more professional setting.

I love wearing my coordinating pieces from XIO!

The Verdict: Monthly XIO Bag scratches that need-for-new-jewelry itch for me. I love the coordinating pieces this month, and the mix of knotted pieces, anchors and shiny twisted metal was on point for August’s nautical theme. We received 5 accessories, which brings each piece down to $14–a great value! I love XIO’s jewelry, and I always look forward to seeing what next month’s box will bring.
