My Little Library Box Review – August 2019

My Little Library is a limited edition children’s book box that delivers 4 reading selections as well as other goodies recommended for ages 0-2 years old. Although my baby is still baking (due late October!), I've been making it my mission to collect enriching books and toys for baby, so I thought this box would be a great way to help build his own Little Library.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

My Little Library August 2019 Review

This box came with a free personalized digital ebook and an exclusive reading activity guide from Parents Magazine full of tips and tricks to use while reading to your baby.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Finger Puppet Book - Retail Value $6.19

This adorable puppet book illustrates the classic nursery rhyme with a starry backdrop, a colorful family of owls and a fun little owl finger puppet right in the center of everything. The finger puppet will be sure to thrill and entertain my young audience while teaching him a classic.

Lots of Love Little One by Sandra Magsamen - Retail Value $12.32

I can see closing bedtime out every night with this sentimental pick. This book expresses how much love mommy or daddy has for their little one. It is illustrated with little elephants and a few other smiling animals, and the rhyming words make for a catchy book that I hope to read in unison with my son someday.

Disney’s My First Colors by Marcy Kelman - Retail Value $6.99

Disney is already irresistible for me, but Disney baby?! Squee!! How cute are these illustrations? This interactive book is so cute and a great way to help baby with his colors and word/picture association. Each page is a trifold offering even more pages than initially meets the eye.

The Wiggles Coloring Book - Estimated Value $2

This little coloring book has 16 pages to color, and the illustrations of The Wiggles characters are so cute! I don't really know anything about this show, but I know two little girls who would love to put some color onto these pages. This book also includes 2019 tour dates right inside the cover for any of you Wiggles fans out there!

Disney Junior Vampirina Buttons 6" Plush - Retail Value $10.29

This cute plush is a bright and cheerful addition to this month's box. I wasn't sure what to expect when this box's description said it would include other goodies in addition to the book selections, but here it is! I would have preferred a type of activity book or game because my dog Murray is already all over this toy! It is mostly stuffed, but her back is also filled with polyethylene pellets, so letting him have it is out of the question. Buttons is a character on the Disney Junior show Vampirina; since I don't know what my little man will be into, I will likely gift this cute plush to a friend.

Verdict: The value of this box, using retail and estimated values, came to $37.79 - not terrible for a $25.51 box, but I would have preferred 4 books instead of 3 books and a coloring book. Other than that, I think the reading selections Walmart chose for this month are really cute and fun.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Your picture of “Lots of Love” shows $7.99 MSRP. That brings value down to $33.46. In addition, I’ve seen the Twinkle Twinkle book at Marshall’s for $1.99

I received my box today and I am completely disappointed.
