kidpik Fall 2019 Review

When you sign up, they ask you a few questions related to your child's size and style preferences.

I like that kidpik is very specific in some of their options such as "please do not include jeans" so that you can really tailor it to your girl's clothing needs or preferences. I also love that they ask how sparkly your girl is. Mine is pretty sparkly these days!

When you check out, you have the option to return, exchange or donate the items for free using the postage-paid envelope they provided. For donations, they partner with Good + Foundation to donate clothing to girls in need!

Included in the box was a pamphlet with a little thank you note on the front and their social media info on the back. They tend to post a lot on social media, so if you ever want to see the types of outfits they send out, I suggest following them! They also provided information in the booklet on how the process works, which is helpful. Also inside of our booklet is our invoice. Our total came to $186.50 for all 7 items, but with the 30% discount for keeping all items, the total comes to $130.55. That’s a savings of $55.95 on these items if we choose to keep everything.

This little envelope was something new for us! I'm not sure if they include it in all boxes or if we received it since Liv's birthday is in the fall, but either way, it's a cute and thoughtful idea! I snuck a peek for you and inside was a fun DIY birthday badge kit that you can create using the stickers they provided. I know she will be excited to design her badge and pin it to her shirt for her birthday!

Another unique thing about kidpik is that they always include a little free gift for your girl. You get to keep this whether you keep any of the clothes or not. It comes in its own little bag and this month we received this fun zipper bracelet!

I appreciate that kidpik always sends their shoes in a separate little bag. We use them when we are traveling to store our shoes and they definitely come in handy.

Color Block Chunky Glitter Sneakers, Size Youth 13 - Cost to Keep $46.50 ($32.55 with discount)

Our shoes this season are quite bold in style; multi-colored, covered in glitter and with a thick white sole. She was excited to see the glitter, but since it does rub off a little bit (and get on my floors), it's not my favorite feature! I liked that they were fun and fashionable sneakers that were still functional enough to play in and they are definitely very unique. Unfortunately, they didn't fit my daughter's wide feet very well so we will end up donating this pair. While we have had great luck with their sandals, I do think that their sneakers tend to run a bit smaller or more narrow in size.

Good Vibes Ruffle Tee, Size 7/8 - Cost to Keep $17.50 ($12.25 with discount)

This is our only shirt this month, but it goes well with everything else that we received. She had a little help from her brother with the modeling on this one. I love the dusty blue color of this shirt and the simple, positive message. The velour cut out letters are fun and give it a nice texture and the ruffled sleeves are really cute. At the moment she is in between sizes 6 and 7 so I sized her up just to ensure everything fits her through the fall season. Since this is a 7/8 it fits a little bit baggy on her, but I'm sure she will grow into it in no time. For reference, she's only 4, but super tall for her age so clothing is often loose fitting on her!

Skinny Jeans, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $22.50 ($15.75 with discount)

These jeans are really nice! I love the dark wash with the slight fading and they feature an adjustable waistband to ensure a good fit. They are pretty long on her and also slightly baggy, but with the dark denim, I think it's not too terribly noticeable. These are the same jeans she was wearing with the shirt in the first set of photos and while the closeup doesn't look that great, I think they look okay in the photo with the tee on. To really make them work, I think I can just roll the bottoms up a bit and maybe these will even last her into the spring if we are lucky!

Cord Jacket, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $36.50 ($25.55 with discount)

This corduroy jacket was a fun surprise! She loves the color, which is listed as fuchsia, and the style, and I thought it was pretty cute! It is a bit big on her, but she just rolled up the sleeves a little and was happy with the fit. It also feels like a quality piece and makes a fun accent that goes with a lot of the items we received. Such as our next item...

Cord 5 Pocket Skirt, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $25.50 ($17.85 with discount)

...this matching skirt! How cute are they together? While the jacket is a bit big, the skirt fits her pretty perfectly. It also features an adjustable waistband which helps. I love that it has pockets on the front and back and the quality is great just like the jacket. She was really happy with the whole ensemble and I love that the colors of the skirt and jacket go well with the velour text on her shirt. Stylish and cute!

Floral Ruffle Sleeve Dres, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $25.50 ($17.85 with discount)

Our last clothing item is this fun floral dress with a ruffle across the collar that extends down the sides of the sleeves. I love the pattern and colors and she liked it a lot. It feels like a very fall dress and I can see her pairing it with some thick tights to wear in cooler weather. It's a bit shapeless on her since it's big on her tiny frame, but she was happy with it and the elastic cuffs on the bell sleeves help to make it so the sleeves don't fit too long and get in her way.

Metallic Cross Body Bag - Cost to Keep $12.50 ($8.75 with discount)

Each season they send an accessory to go along with your outfits and this time we received this fun gold crossbody purse. The gold is metallic and super shiny and it comes with a removable gold chain strap. It is pretty basic inside, no inner zippers or pockets, but it is a good size for a kid-size bag!

Here she is modeling her new bag.

Here she is with her jacket, which also matches the flowers in the dress and her bag. I love that they really do send a complete look!

The Verdict: It's so much fun to see what kidpik will send to us each season. Their clothing styles are unique, fun, and they send us items we would not normally consider when shopping at a store. I never would have thought she needed a fuchsia corduroy jacket and matching skirt, but both of us are so happy that she has them now! The clothing does fit her a bit big, but I knew that when I selected her sizes since we usually need to put up with the baggy clothing to ensure that we have the right length. I love that they send shoes, an accessory, a gift for her and clothing pieces that all coordinate well with one another. The only real miss for us was the shoes, although style-wise she was happy with them! I'm happy we will be able to donate them because kidpik will match any donation you make, which is another great perk of this subscription! I think that we got a lot of great pieces for $130.55, although that does give each of the 7 items an average cost of $18.65 which feels a bit high in comparison to their listed average of $13.50 per piece. That being said, I think several of the items are worth more than this average price, so I am still happy with our total! The overall experience of this personalized service also helps!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? kidpik curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what season it is. You might get something that fits your girl’s style even better than the items that we received.

Or, use code MSA50A to save 50% off your first box from kidpik plus free shipping & free styling when you keep the entire box!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $0 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $186.50. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if we keep all 7 items, then we get a 30% discount. This would bring the price down to $130.55 for the 7 items, which is an average of $18.65 per item.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
