Gwynnie Bee July 2019 Review
This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received July 1st, 2019:
Pink Collar Fit and Flare Dress by eShakti, Size 18W — Retail Value $32
This dress reminded me of something I would have worn in my college days to my buddy’s surf/punk/power pop/new wave dance night! I have always been a sucker for a good collar, what can I say? The contrasting pink collar and sleeve detail is fantastic. The fit on me was a bit tight in the chest and midsection—I could have stood to get the size 20 for a smidge more room. The piece has some stretch, but not a lot. It may look like I forgot to zip the back, but it is meant to have an open back feature. I also love the flared skirt—it makes me want to twirl and spin at such an excess that it annoys all around me! I styled this dress with cute black lug sole, open-toed sandals and silver hoops. This would be excellent to wear for a date or at the office!
Cap Sleeve Paisley Dress by London Times, Size 2X—Retail Value $77 (on sale for $23)
This piece is no longer able to be rented, but you can purchase it via the Gwynnie Bee Outlet! Gwynnie Bee outlet is where previously rented items are sold at an extremely low cost. I adore this dress. I appreciate a great, retro paisley print, so of course this piece is a winner for me! The color palette of different shades of blue with seafoam and white accents stand out gorgeously against the black backdrop. This dress has loads of stretch, but definitely flatters and hugs the curves well. The cap sleeves make this ideal to wear in the summer whether at a picnic or at the office. I wore it to my office job and got loads of compliments, so there you have it! I paired the dress with my favorite vintage blue Candie’s for a touch of summertime sassiness!
Navy Rope Stripe Wide Leg Jumpsuit by Maggy London, Size 20W—Retail Value $86.50
Last, but certainly not least, is this navy wide-legged jumpsuit by Maggy London. This might be my favorite item I received from Gwynnie Bee this month! If you follow my reviews, you probably know of my affinity and fondness for jumpsuits. I actually avoided them before writing these reviews; it pays to be open to different trends and styles—you might find a new favorite! I initially was concerned the wide leg on this jumpsuit would overwhelm my 5’6″ frame. On the contrary, I think it enhanced my figure! The fabric has limited stretch, but the cut and fit are on point! My only grievance was it was hard to zip and unzip myself out of this number. It certainly is not conducive for the workplace if I am rushing off on break to use the bathroom. Other than that, I love this piece! I paired it with my favorite black sandal heels, but on those cooler summer nights, toss on a black moto jacket or your favorite light denim jean jacket for a classically cool look.
Verdict: Gwynnie Bee continues to be one of my favorite subscription boxes! I love that I can try out a variety of brands and trends without the commitment to buy. This service is perfect if you need new work clothes, are in between sizes, or just are a clothing horse like me and get a thrill from a closet of new clothes without breaking the bank! I also love the Gwynnie Bee Outlet where you can purchase extremely discounted pieces that have been retired from the rental service. They also offer a Market Place where you can purchase accessories, lingerie, and workout gear! I just can’t find any reasons not to try Gwynnie Bee, especially with the free first-month trial they offer! Get on it and do yourself a favor– sign up for Gwynnie Bee on the double!
To Wrap Up:
Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month, but I could get several pieces sent to me in a month’s time if I return each piece after wearing promptly. The three items total up to $141.50, which is $46.50 more than my monthly subscription fee! Imagine the value if I had returned these pieces and received even more!
