How does Frank And Oak work?
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). You’ll also be able to set a budget for different types of clothing that could be included.
Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up shows you the items that have been selected for you. You can switch out the chosen items for others on this page if you desire. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more or less than three if you’d like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it’s a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.

This month, John wasn't able to log on ahead of shipment and update his selection. This just means that F+O sends the items they pick and he gets to try everything on and return what he isn't crazy about. Let's see what they picked!
Here’s the invoice for the four pieces John received, plus the return instructions. (If you didn’t know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you’ll see on their packaging and paperwork!)
Flannel Striped Shirt with Denim Collar in Green, L - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $69.50
John's first reaction to this shirt was that it looks like a "dad shirt." However, after trying it on, he's warmed up to it a bit. He likes the contrasting denim collar and that, even though it is too warm right now, the thicker cotton fabric will be cozy on cooler fall nights. The darker colors in the stripes look nice with either jeans or light-colored pants.
Botanical Dye Cotton Tee in Mint, L - Retail Price $34.50, Member Price $32.50
Frank And Oak tee shirts are John's all-time favorite clothing item. They fit great, are super soft, and have thicker ribbed collars that resist stretching. He's also found them to be great for layering under other shirts. This shirt is dyed with Frank And Oak's Eco Dye process which is "An eco-friendly alternative to chemical dyes drawn from natural resources via water extraction."
Tencel Lyocell Eco-Dye Shirt in Washed Black, L - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $69.50
The next two shirts are the same shirt style but in different colors. The fabric is TENCEL® lyocell – "Fibres made from sustainable eucalyptus plants as their raw material. Zero-waste process" – and is incredibly soft, smooth, and lightweight. This one is the washed black which has an easy-to-wear, casual look that pairs well with denim or light-colored pants. Here, John has layered the green tee (above) which gives it a little pop of color.
Tencel Lyocell Eco-Dye Shirt in Blue, L - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $69.50
This is the same shirt as above in light denim chambray. I love this look! It's a little more obvious that the sleeves are long on John with this color, but he rolls them up most of the time anyway. This is the perfect summer evening shirt since it is so breathable. Plus, it looks great with denim or his darker colored pants.
The Verdict: Since John started receiving Frank And Oak's style plan, his wardrobe has not only improved in style but also in fit and quality. He and I both are always impressed by the quality, thoughtful design details, and comfort factor of their clothing. And, they work hard to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Even though he didn't curate his selection this month, he likes everything enough to keep. His favorites are the green tee and black button-down. The price vs. quality is awesome and we've had positive experiences with the Frank And Oak Customer Service when we have had questions.

Value Breakdown: The regular retail price of these four items is $273. Because John is a member, he got these items for a total of $241. If he were to return all the items, he'd pay the $25 styling fee and would be refunded the remaining amount, but if he keeps at least one item at the discounted price, no styling fee will be charged.
