Birchbox Complexion info

Here is the info sheet for the products included.

Birchbox Complexion. rms 1 Birchbox Complexion rms 2

rms beauty™ “un” cover-up - 11.5 Neutral Buff Beige, 22.5 Cool Buff Beige, and 55 Golden Tan, 1 sample card - Buy a full-size 0.2 oz version for $36

So I get that it is never fun to get foil samples, but I don't see any other way to try out foundations in a non-personalized box. I am pretty fair, so none of these shades actually worked for me in terms of a concealer. This is made with coconut and jojoba seed oils, and it definitely felt creamy and not heavy. I followed the advice of the card and used two of the shades for an eye-brightening eyeshadow look, but if you have the full-size version I definitely recommend not using this pricy concealer for that purpose.

Birchbox Complexion iby 1 Birchbox Complexion iby 2 Birchbox Complexion ivy 3

IBY Beauty Radiant Glow Highlighter in Pink Pearl, 0.10 oz - Estimated Value $8.23 (similar linked for $14)

It's starting to feel like when you've seen thirty highlighters the thirty-first doesn't really seem different, and I thought it was interesting that I couldn't find this exact shade available for sale (what if this thirty-first highlighter was life-changing??). All that aside, this was a solid performer with buildable color and really pretty millennial pink packaging.

Birchbox Complexion egg mellow

too cool for school All-in-One Egg Mellow Cream 5-in-1 Firming Moisturizer, 0.35 fl oz – Estimated Value $7.16 (Buy a full-size 1.76 oz for $36.00)

I don’t know if this moisturizer firms my face like it claims (luckily I am still young enough that my skin is pretty tight), but I like how multi-use this is. It can be used as a serum, moisturizer, eye cream, or sleeping mask! This is made with egg yolk extract, niacinamide, and collagen, and it absorbed easily into my skin. If using it as a sleeping mask I would recommend applying it on thicker, but overall this is a handy moisturizer to have in your arsenal.

Birchbox Complexion by Terry 1 Birchbox Complexion by Terry 2

BY TERRY Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, 1.3 g - Estimated Value $7.80 (Buy the full-size 2.1 oz version for $60)

This is my first time trying this, and I really like it! It has hyaluronic acid which is known for hydration and plumping the skin, and it has silica micro-beads to help control an oily T-zone. I didn't experience a white cast when I used it, and it felt incredibly soft (if that even makes sense).

Birchbox Complexion LOC 1 Birchbox Complexion LOC 2

Love of Color Glow Squad Quad Single in Pop, 0.07 oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $8

This creamy balm is a multi-purpose lip and cheek product that I found to add a nice wash of buildable color. I especially liked it on my lips, but it spread easily over the apples of my cheeks too.

Birchbox Complexion ipkn

IPKN Radiant Cream Primer SPF 15, 0.24 oz - Estimated Value $4.98 (Buy the full-size 1.35 oz version for $28)

I liked this primer! It gave a smooth base for my foundation without feeling too heavy, and I like that it adds a small boost of UV protection. It gives off a very soft sheen, and it helped my skin to glow when I paired it with a tinted moisturizer.

Birchbox Complexion Mac

M·A·C Cosmetics Strobe Cream in Pinklite, 0.20 oz – Estimated Value $4 (Buy the full-size 1.7 oz version for $34)

This is a true multitasker- you can use it underneath your foundation for a bit of a hydrating glow, or as a highlighter on the high points of your face for a natural accent of shine. Pinklite blends out to be very sheer and adds just a subtle glow that works perfectly for those no makeup or natural makeup days.

Birchbox Complexion swatches

From top to bottom we have a sheer swipe of the LOC single and then a heavier swatch, the IBY highlighter, and then a thick swatch of the MAC strobe cream.

Birchbox Complexion Wilma

Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads, 1 pair – Estimated Value $3.60 (Buy a box of five pairs for $18.00)

These hydrating eye gels are designed to hydrate and de-puff the area under your eyes good ingredients like collagen, allantoin, and hyaluronic acid. I suffer more from dark circles than I do fine lines or puffy eyes, but I still enjoyed these as a refreshing 20-minute treat that helped me to relax (anyone else carry a LOT of tension in their face from looking at screens all day? I find cooling masks to be really helpful with that!).

Birchbox Complexion restore

MakeupDrop™ Restore* Wipes, 2 wipes - Estimated Value $2 (Buy 20 wipes for $20)

I always like having individually wrapped makeup wipes handy, and these did a good job of removing regular makeup (my liquid lipstick was a little stubborn to remove when using these). I like that these have aloe and jojoba esters, and it made for a more gentle makeup removal experience.

Birchbox Complexion no pore

Touch In Sol No Poreblem Primer, 0.11 oz - Estimated Value $1.98 (Buy the full-size 1 oz version for $18)

I don't love this primer- the texture is too watery for my personal preference, and I don't think it performed as some of my other pore-control silicone-based primers like Benefit POREfessional or Smashbox Photofinish. Granted, this primer is much more affordable than the other ones I just listed, so it still may be worth checking out if you're on the hunt for a primer.

Birchbox Complexion blender 1 Birchbox Complexion blender 2

beautyblender® micro mini - Estimated Value $7.50 (Buy four for $30)

I used to hate receiving the mini beautyblenders, but now I do really reach for them when I am applying concealer to my under eyes or on targeted spots. Damp, it also works well to help me set my concealer with setting powder to prevent creases, too. This also came with a sample of the beautyblender cleanser, which is always handy.

Birchbox Complexion selfie

Here I am wearing most of the items in the box. I used the IPKN primer before using my NARS tinted moisturizer and Too Faced concealer on my under eyes, and I used the rms concealer for eyeshadow. I patted the LOC single on both my lips and cheeks, and I dabbed the MAC strobe cream on the high points of my cheekbones before setting the look with the BY TERRY powder.

The Verdict: In what may be a first, this Birchbox kit actually over-delivered on the value! They promised a value of $46 for this box, and I calculated a total value of $55.25. Considering the relatively low cost of $18 for the entire kit, I recommend grabbing this if you're on the hunt for some new products to boost your complexion or your face makeup game.

Very nice review! I really like the color on your eyes from the RMS samples! Gives me new ideas for using samples…And the lippy is a great wash of color, much less bold than the sample would indicate. I may need to try this out!
