Birchbox was one of the very first beauty subscription boxes—we’ve been reviewing it since 2012! Each month, subscribers get a new mix of 5 beauty samples, such as makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance items. Birchbox lets you choose whether you’d like a box of items picked just for you (incl... read more.

Birchbox is becoming irrelevant in the subscription game. They are unable to get hot sponsoring brands even after the price hike. I religiously provide them feed back on the samples I receive and they continue sending me the samples I dont like and I dont want. Train wreck for me.

I picked the full-size detangler instead of a box. A leave-in conditioning spray-type product is the ONLY hair product I’m please to receive in a sub box. I wouldn’t pay $23 for this product, but for the $8.25 of the box, it’s a very good choice for me.

I usually pick the curated boxes because there is too much stuff Birchbox subs that I don’t like. But this month the curated boxes sold out before I made my choices. So I’m stuck with a new box. I’ll try two of the samples. The sample choice and a Mac mascara. I only got one of the sample choices in my box.

I chose the Sheet mask and ended up getting ALL of the sample choices (which is the Anika and model co) lol plus that living proof hair product and that face cleanser ..I’m ok with it since last month my box sucked …I’m still paying $10 for it but for $15 I don’t know if it’s worth it…seems like a lot of us got those same products

This may be my last box after being with Birchbox for 5 years. I didn’t pick a sample choice this month.
Smashbox Primer Water-eh I’m always up for trying a new primer
beautyblender make it reign-I’m sure this will be one of those tiny samples with the water
amika salt spray-hate salt sprays
laritzy liquid lipstick-maybe I’ll like this if it’s a good color and formula
Laura Geller Lip Scrub-always nice to have around
Living Proof 5-in-1 styler-overplayed sample

I just looked, I’m getting THREE hair products, and that dr lipp balm which is pure lanolin. I’m allergic to lanolin and to the fragrances in most haircare.
I marked that I did not want hair samples in my profile, thinking okay maybe one per box. But three? In the same month?
I don’t fault birchbox at all for the lanolin balm, since I suppose it would be good for most people’s sensitive skin. But I’m annoyed about the hair stuff.

Birchbox is THE sub box for hair stuff. It’s one of the reasons I cancelled. I have so much hair, a sample isn’t enough for one use for me lol

I don’t see any place in profile where you can mark the samples you don’t want.
I share your frustration, though. I picked the sheet mask for sample choice in part because I didn’t want the amika. I’m getting the amika AND living proof (which I have sampled enough to know I don’t want it).
