Beauty Heroes August 2019 Review feat. Maya Chia

There's a card that you can detach from the lid of the box that suggests a "DIY Ritual" on how to incorporate your new products with others. You'll also receive a booklet that introduces the featured brand (Maya Chia) and the products they chose to highlight.

Maya Chia The Refresh Mint Resurfacing Moisture Mask, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $68.00

How fun is the color of this mask?! I love the electric teal blue and it is only compounded by its unique texture. A little citrusy, a little minty, and a little fennel-y, this mask has one of the most complex fragrances I've encountered. It looks like a fancy jar of slime which I am here for and is really fun to spread on to my face even though I don't love the fennel smell. Once I've got a thin layer that has the slightest blue tint, I let it sit until it dries (5-10 mins) to a clear glassy look. There is tingling! There is a comforting tightness! After I feel satisfied that it's dry, I use a warm washcloth to wipe my face clean to reveal skin that is as fresh as a newborn's. The info pamphlet mentions the word "plump" - check! As well as "hydrated"- check! It has really made my skin feel new and I am stoked. In the first week, they suggest using this mask every two days, and then 2-3 times a week to maintain that newborn glow. This is probably the most unique and performing mask I've used in a while. Thanks, Beauty Heroes!!

Maya Chia The Optimist Hydrating Essence, 1.7 oz. - Listed Retail Value $29.00 (Buy full-size 3.4 oz. for $58.00)

My goodness gracious. If ever there were just one refreshing mist to spritz on my face - this might be THE ONE. Having a similar scent to it as The Refresh Mint, this ultra-fine hydrating mist has a licorice scent and includes neroli, organic white tea, chia seed extract, and organic sake rice extract among others. I use this after The Refresh Mint mask, after cleansing, or anytime during the day when my face needs a little pick-me-up. It immediately perks my mood and gives me a glorious feeling. I simply love it!

Verdict: Beauty Heroes has once again introduced me to obsession-worthy products from a brand I wouldn't have heard of otherwise. I love love loved both experiences with the two offerings from Maya Chia and I can see myself easily adding these to my regimen since both are so enjoyable.

I LOVE Maya Chia! And this was a really fun and entertaining review!
I unsubbed from Beauty Heroes a few months back because I was getting into serious product overload. This month’s box is really tempting me to re-sub, but if there is one thing I still have too much of, it’s face masks.

I absolutely love this subscription, and it never disappoints! I am so glad I decided to subscribe to this box earlier in the year. The mask this month was great, but the hydrating essence spray I one of my favorite product discoveries, ever!

Two items for $60? They may be full size but wow. Personally I’d rather go choose my products for that cost instead of leaving it to fate. What if the products aren’t right for me? Can I return them like I can if I bought my own? That is my dilemma.

Thanks to your reviews, plus input from Luna I subscribed and have been very pleased. This was my second box and think this subscription may be a keeper. I appreciate the full sizes plus doesn’t feel as much beauty overload as it does with getting several smaller sizes in a box. Personally I need a good two to three weeks of use before I can tell if it is right for me so full sizes are helpful.

Awesome, Connie! Sometimes less is more.
Luna is such a treasure, isn’t she? 😉 So helpful!

Awww, thanks Marne 😀 (tee-hee)

I’m glad you’re enjoying the box Connie! This is my 2nd box in my 3-month sub, but if I wasn’t subbed, I would have definitely re-subbed for 3-months just to get this box! I’ve been eyeing that mask since it launched, and I practically squealed when I saw it was going to be included. I can’t wait to try it out! Plus, I’ve heard so many lovely things about The Optimist too, so it was a super cool bonus that was included. 🙂

Thanks for another great review! Your excellent reviews convinced me to subscribe to Beauty Heroes and I have no regrets! Love hearing your take on the products, can’t wait to try mine.

This box was amazing! My 2nd box. I am so happy with it. Wish it was every other month though as I have too much product. However, I don’t see myself canceling this sub

Dawn

Just no. I don’t need full size of a brand I have never heard of… And, quite honestly, you lost me at $58.95…

You should really reconsider. Indie brands are the way too go. And I’m not talking about the person mixing aloe and rose oil in their kitchen and putting in a jar for sale, I’m talking about the real luxury indie brands.

I have a product from 111 Skin and it’s made in China. Point is a lot of these well known brands are all about profits whereas the smaller indie brands are from individuals who have dedicated themselves to clean beauty. Individuals who have Masters in traditional Chinese medicine, are herbalist or have farms where they grow their flowers/herbs for their products.

Hi Dawn,
I totally agree that this is not an accessible subscription for most people with its high price tag. I think this one is directed at a very specialized group who are obsessed with discovering clean luxury brands and are more accepting of a higher price tag since it’s still a deal compared to retail prices. It’s definitely not for everyone, for sure.
I will also note that Beauty Heroes previously had a base cost of $42.95/mo but required a pre-paid three-month commitment. Since so many people wanted a monthly option, they recently offered one but at a higher price.

This is actually a very well known brand in clean beauty.

Why are you reading reviews for discovery boxes if you don’t want to try new brands lol
