Astral Box July 2019 Review

Ah, what a good day it is when Astral Box arrives! I dug through the carefully packed box, cushioned with paper sizzle and dried rose petals, to find each item protected so it wouldn't break nor leak. Astral Box is all about the attention to detail! Inside the box each month is an artfully decorated card, which on the back details each item in the box, along with a value listing. This is really helpful as many of the items are exclusive to Astral Box and/or are hard for me to find online.

Catalyst Holistic Wellness Aquarius Oil – Retail Value approx. $26.50 USD ($40 NZD)

To kick off this month's celestial theme, Astral Box has provided us with this lovely roll-on specially designed with Aquarius in mind. My initial take on this roll-on was that a peppermint scent stands out to me. There are other familiar-seeming scents in the blend that I couldn't quite put my finger on—turns out they're lavender, white cypress, and coriander. Very unique combo!

Astral Box subscribers get a 15% discount on Catalyst products. There are coupons scattered throughout this month's box!

Crystal nectars, you say? I'm intrigued! I also am not sure what "magick" means as opposed to "magic." The handout shown below goes into greater detail, saying,

"Crystal nectars of aquamarine and amethyst...All infused in earth medicine ritual over the full lunar cycles of dark, new, and full moon and attuned with a Uranus-207.36hz tuning fork."

Yep, sounds magical alright!

I love when roll-ons have a metal ball—it offers such a smooth experience.

This card provides a more detailed description of the qualities surrounding this Aquarius-themed product.

Potion Nitro Face Serum – Retail Value approx. $16.27 USD ($25 NZD)

If I really dig deep, I think I've maybe heard of caffeine being used topically, but I really didn't know much about it until looking into this face oil from Potion. Apparently it reduces inflammation, and thus is frequently used to reduce puffing under the eyes. The coffee used in this eye serum is from The Nitro Cart. This product totally smells like coffee and it's amazing!

Here's a Potion discount code for Astral Box subscribers.

Those of you who subscribe to Astral Box or have followed my reviews know that face serums are a regular occurrence in this subscription. I'd love to hear in the comments what you all think of that! I have said a number of times before that I don't have an extensive beauty routine (or much of one at all, really) but that I still enjoy trying the high-quality beauty products Astral Box offers. Actually, it's Astral Box that introduced me to using a facial oil instead of a light cream in the dryer months. I'm just having a hard time keeping up with the monthly serums and am beginning to have quite the backlog! That said, this one is a little different than the average and is really a treat.

Tub Tonics Amethyst Bath Bomb — Listed Value approx. $3.97 USD ($6 NZD)

This bath bomb is so gorgeous! It seriously looks so much like a piece of amethyst is wedged in there. It isn't my first time receiving a geode bath bomb in a subscription box, and unfortunately what makes them so beautiful is also what I don't love about actually using them in the tub: glitter. I have friends who are unbothered by being covered in glitter (and my 22-year-old self would have loved it, quite honestly) so I'll probably pass this along as a gift.

I do, however, love and fully support that this comes from a women-owned company that features vegan, organic, holistic products. Quadruple win!

Starlit Silver Bracelet— Retail Value approx. $21.83 USD ($32.95 NZD)

This silver cuff bracelet by Starlit is engraved with the phrase, "Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground." Such a fun, inspiring saying, and this guy makes a great stacking piece. It's available on their site in 4 colors, including a really cool rainbow-y iridescent one!

Here's yet another discount code and a fun message from the Starlit crew, encouraging you to post a picture of your new bracelet on social media.

Celestite Geode— Retail Value approx. $16.59 USD ($25 NZD)

This milky blue crystal is described on the Astral Box card as having a "gentle uplifting vibration." I feel that!

Wilder Poetry Journal — Listed Value approx. $9.94 USD ($15 NZD)

I am so incredibly taken by this poetry book-journal combo by Wilder Poetry. It appears to be an abbreviated version of the chapbooks on the Wilder website, and it's filled with beautiful, moody imagery, deep words, and spaces for your own additions.

You've heard of an Instagram husband, now how about a subscription box review husband? Except in this case, instead of having him take the photos, I had him be the hand model. Haha.

Here's the back cover. I love love love this thoughtful addition to this month's box and feel it rounded the selection out beautifully.

Verdict: As I made my way through the July Astral Box, I went from liking it (as I explored the beauty products) to adoring it (when I opened up the poetry journal). With the amazing scents and vibes that everything else in the box provided, I was in the perfect mindset to delve into some poetry and feel the good feels. Based on listed values, the items in this box have a total retail value of around $105 USD, which is on the high end of the $67-$101 USD value range that was promised by Astral Box

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

Yes ‘magick’ with a ‘k’ is meant to differentiate witchcraft from stage magic.

Magick = occult, (ie, spells, witchcraf) vs magic as in David Copperfield stuff.
