July 2019 Dapper Dog Box Review

July's box theme is Fun in the Sun!

Each box comes with two info cards, one listing the featured item of the month—the Dapper Dog monthly bandana—and the other has some social media info as well as a little more info about the charitable nature of this box.

Murray is ready to dig in!

Fun in the Sun Bandana - Listed Value $25

This reversible bandana is adorable! One side is beach-day themed and the other has a fun ice cream pattern. Here is the bandana displaying both sides; the size and shape make it really easy to tie on Murray, and I only had to fold it twice to fit him. We have a couple of new models this month as I am taking a mini-vacation at my mom's while the floors at my house are being refinished.

As always, Murray enjoys modeling his new bandana. He liked the beach pattern the most.

This is Scooter! He is a Yorkie-Poo with a very squeaky bark and a remarkable likeness to a flying squirrel when leaping from couch to couch.

This is Luigi, aka Puppup! She is a reclusive Yorkie who you can usually find in the depths of my mom's closet; she tends to blep 90% of the time, and although she is an old gal, she can certainly pick up the pace when food is involved.

All three dogs shared the bandana nicely, but Murray let them know that it is his to take with him at the end of the week.

Pet Qwerks Toys IncrediBUBBLES - Retail Value $4.99

This item is listed as a bonus, and what a fun surprise for a summer box! IncrediBUBBLES are made for pets and kids to enjoy; they are non-toxic and infused with peanut butter without the peanut allergens. One blow of the wand and I had a ton of small bubbles flying all around the room!

The super thick formula made the bubbles last even after they sat on the floor for a few minutes.

Murray was intrigued at first but got distracted soon thereafter. Next time, we will definitely take them outside to avoid any cleanup and maybe he will chase them around more in a more open space.

VitalEssentials Freeze-Dried Treats in Wild Alaskan Salmon, 2.5oz - Retail Value $8.99 (Found here for $8.09)

I love when Dapper Dog mixes it up in the treats department. These crunchy little pellets are the perfect training treats; they are potent which definitely gets the dog's attention, they are small enough to treat often and they are also very healthy for your pooch only containing two ingredients, salmon and tocopherols.

All three dogs swarmed me when I had these out, and they were happy to crunch on them.

Loving Pets Totally Grainless Meaty Chew Bones - Retail Value $5.99

This bag contains 3 beefy sticks, perfect for keeping all 3 pups occupied. These chews are made in the USA, are totally wheat/gluten/grain/corn free and they also are made with real beef and sweet potato.

Needless to say, the dogs went insane for these sticks.

Petlou 10" Ice Cream Cone Toy - Retail Value $7.12

Scoot immediately fell in love with this adorable ice cream cone toy. He has been carrying it around the house since unboxing! The squeaker in the double scoop is really easy for him to squeak, and even though it is almost as long as he is, he just loves to whip this cone around while playing.

It is impossible to get a clear shot of this little guy since he is so quick, but you gotta love the action shots! This toy would not be suitable for a heavy chewer, but this wouldn't be a concern for any of the dogs here.

Petlou 13" Palm Tree Toy - Retail Value $7.70

This big palm tree has a bit of crunch to it as well as a medium squeaker hidden in the branches of the palm tree. I really thought this would be the type of toy Murray would basically use as a pillow, but while we are staying with other, smaller dogs, he had to show them what's up.

Murray was definitely showing off to his friends with this large palm tree toy. Once again, this is just a plush toy, not for heavy chewers.

Verdict: Another winning box this month with a value of $54.81. This box kept the dogs entertained and treated for a few days, so it was well worth the price. I will definitely try the bubbles out again soon, too! I love when they include items like this to mix up the box a bit.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the August box. Monthly cut-offs are the 20th of each month to get that month’s box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35/month with a retail value of $54.81; here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Dapper Dog Bandana: $15.96
  • Petlou Ice Cream Cone Toy: $4.55
  • Petlou Palm Tree Toy: $4.93
  • VitalEssentials Treats: $5.75
  • Loving Pets Chew Bones: $3.83

Alternatively, each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $7.

The Dapper Dog Box

Hey Miranda,

While you can definitely find cheaper bandanas out there, many dog bandanas retail between $20-30/each. To give a little insight into where our valuation comes from, the bandanas we include in our boxes are high-quality cotton, limited edition, and feature designs from small businesses/emerging artists.
