BookCase.Club for Kids June 2019 Review

Blaze and the Monster Machines: We Love Monster Machines! by Random House - Retail Value $6.56

This book is based on the characters from the Nickelodeon show Blaze and the Monster Machines. Each page introduces a different monster machine and tells a little bit about them in a brief sentence. My 1-year-old can appreciate the vibrant pictures and simple text while my 3-year-old will be excited about the various monster machines throughout the story!

Rock-a-Bye Romp by Linda Ashman - Retail Value $19.95

While this isn't a board book as our preferences indicate, this is still an appropriate book for my 1-year-old. It's a sweet little rhyming lullaby adventure as baby falls from a tree and lands on a pig and even ends up floating down a waterfall before ending up back in mama's arms. While the adventures seem a bit advanced for an infant they do finish the story with a line about babies in a tree being fine for a song which I thought was sweet. This story was a pleasant surprise and full of beautiful illustrations!

Clangers: Looking for a Lullaby by Janet Lawler - Retail Value $16.99

This last book felt a bit odd as the "Clangers" are unfamiliar to me and to make it feel even more random, the book comes with an audio reading on CD by William Shatner. After looking up the Clangers it made more sense once I realized they are from a British show that involves a group of creatures that live on another planet! This story was about Tiny who needs a lullaby to fall asleep and so she goes in search of someone who can sing her one. In the end, she ends up singing her own lullaby and she lulls everyone to sleep around her. This was a pretty unique book and one that I think you would appreciate if you were familiar with the series! It didn't feel quite appropriate as a book for newborns and two-year-olds.

Verdict: I never know what we will receive in our BookCase.Club box each month because they often send books outside of our preferences (board books for a newborn to 2-year-old boy). Since I have kids of multiple ages this isn't usually an issue for my family, but this may not be a great subscription for you if you are not as flexible in the types of books you like to receive! As for the retail value, it always well exceeds the $14.99 ($9.99 + $5.00 shipping) cost of the box, so the value is always there and usually, we enjoy the books that are sent. This month our total value comes to $43.50 which is pretty good!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, order before the 25th to get the next box. (Boxes ship on or before the 1st of each month.)

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
