Bonjour Jolie July 2019 “Life’s a Beach” Review
This month’s Bonjour Jolie box theme is Life’s a Beach which is perfect for a July box! They included this card which lists all of our items and their values and I’m loving the nice tranquil beach scene here.
I love that they always carry the theme into the paper our items come wrapped in.
Let’s start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme. How cute are these beach balls?
When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.
Seventh Generation Tampons, Regular (7)- Buy 18 for $6.79
Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (10) – Buy 28 for $7.99
Kotex Light Days Long Liners (3) – Buy 96 for $5.49
You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This month I received 7 tampons, 10 pads, and 3 liners.
GoodWipes Cleansing Cloths in Rosewater (2) – Buy a box of 16 for $2.19
Cleansing cloths like these seem to be in every box which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.
Advil To-Go Packs (2) – Buy 50 packets for $8.98
These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.
Sea Jewels Creations Seashell Necklace – Retail Value $9.99
The first beachy-themed item in our box is this fun seashell necklace. This is handmade and painted with gold leaf paint to give it that shiny gold trim. While this is definitely not a style I would wear often, I think it’s a fun piece I might wear at the beach. My daughter (4) especially liked this one though.
Here it is on. It’s not huge so I think I’d feel comfortable wearing this for the right occasion!
Scrub Your Worries Away Body Scrub in Beach Life- Listed Value $12
While the web address is listed on the scrub itself, I could not locate this one online. This is a generously-sized beach scrub and I found it to smell of sea salt and maybe gardenia? It is a light scent that lingers (pleasantly) after you use it. This scrub is made with Epsom, sea and coarse salts that provide a fine exfoliation. It left my skin feeling soft, smooth and clean thanks to the shea butter and various oils including coconut, sunflower, and avocado. My only complaint is that this wide container is hard to store in my shower since I have narrow shelves! But I do see this nice-sized container lasting me a while!
Bonjour Jolie Sunscreen Lip Balm – Listed Value $3.99
This lip balm is made just for this box and I like the design on the tube. It has no real taste or smell to it and feels like a basic moisturizing chapstick. It is listed as a sunscreen balm though and I don’t see any ingredients listed that I know of to be sunscreens. It has four oils: sunflower, avocado, palm and olive along with shea butter, carnauba wax, and cocoa butter.
Our edibles all came packaged inside this fun rainbow coral bag that matches our necklace bag.
First up, a favorite of mine, some Swedish Fish! These are the mini kind which are quite delicious and I was happy that this pack had a decent amount inside, too!
Next up we have these fun chocolate sea animal crackers which are made in Hawaii, the ultimate beach destination. The texture was firm like the thicker animal crackers you can buy everywhere in bulk, but the subtle chocolate flavor and fun shapes made these more enjoyable!
How cute is this little turtle gummy? While the texture was not for me (a bit chewy), the kids were happy to share this little guy!
These were a delicious little treat that the whole family enjoyed. I might be purchasing some more if I ever see them in a store because the tropical flavors were yummy! These were similar to jelly beans and were a fun treat!
What beach box would be complete without some saltwater taffy? This taffy was pretty good as far as taffy goes! Not waxy like some and they were each very flavorful.
I love the idea of this cold brew tea and I don’t even mind that it comes pre-sweetened, but unfortunately, it is sweetened with sucralose which I don’t do. I tried a sip of the peach tea and I think the flavor was good, but the sucralose made it much too sweet for my tastes. I was actually surprised at how very sweet it was after only steeping for a few minutes in cold water!
Verdict: This beachy-themed Bonjour Jolie box was a fun one for July! I thought they included a good mix of items with the necklace, scrub, and all of the sea-themed edibles. There was such a good mix of tasty treats and I thought they were pretty clever, too! I had to use a few listed values, but I estimate the total retail value of this box to be about $36.32 which is pretty good for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box. I love that you get the essentials for that time of month plus a few extras and the fact that they all fit within a theme makes it feel even more special!
