Bless Box May 2019 Review

The Bless Box May 2019 info 1 The Bless Box May 2019 info 2

The full magazine that used to come with this box is now 100% online, but we did receive an info sheet detailing the products included. I would also like to point out that while this review is a bit late, I did not receive the May box until mid-June.

The Bless Box May 2019 gold mask

Perfectly Posh Hot and Gold Face Mask, 2 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $20

This mask is made with colloidal gold, caffeine, and hyaluronic acid, which are all ingredients I can get behind. Unfortunately, this is intentionally fragranced with notes of "florals, oud, and velvety moss," and I just can't get behind skincare products that are intentionally fragranced- doesn't that sound like a description for a body butter rather than something that you slather on your face?

The Bless Box May 2019 dove

Dove Body Wash Mousse with Rose Oil, 10.3 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $5.99

This has the consistency of shaving cream, so it is an absolute delight to lather up with. I use way too much every time, but this is one of the few bath products I am actually close to finishing up completely. If rose isn't for you then you won't like the prominent rose scent of this mousse, but they make a coconut oil and argan oil version too!

The Bless Box May 2019 microfiber 1 The Bless Box May 2019 microfiber 2

Hollywood Fashion Secrets Microfiber Makeup Removers, 2 pack – Retail Value $15

I don't understand why microfiber removes makeup so well, but it does. These wipes were especially fascinating to me when I came home one night less than sober with a face full of makeup, and it really only took water to remove everything except some stubborn mascara.

The Bless Box May 2019 cups 1 The Bless Box May 2019 cups 2 The Bless Box May 2019 cups 3 The Bless Box May 2019 4

Bless Facial Cups – Listed Value $18

Nope, no thank you. There is a lot I will do for the sake of a review but this isn't one of them. In theory, this will help to promote circulation, collagen production, and cell repair, but this is not something I feel comfortable trying to achieve in my apartment bathroom. I will also note that I consider myself pretty up to date on "trends" and I have literally never heard of anyone doing this. Cupping in a more traditional sense is usually performed by physical therapists or other professionals when used for muscle recovery, and I think I will leave it to them.

The Bless Box May 2019 wipe The Bless Box May 2019 wipe 2

DUCALM Walk Out Clean Shower Wipe – Retail Value $1.50

I work out often, and as much as I would like to immediately shower after every time, sometimes that is just not an option. Wipes like these come in handy, and I appreciate how thick this one was while smelling faintly of cucumber. It was gentle on my skin, too, and has ingredients like chamomile, aloe, and marshmallow root.

The Bless Box May 2019 marlowe

Marlowe No. 002 Extra Moisturizing Body Lotion, 15 fl oz – Full Size! Retail Value $10.99

Alright, look, I don't believe in gendering skincare products to begin with, but how did the Bless Box fail to mention that Marlowe is a brand that is specifically catering to men? Under the Marlowe About page, they state "We are for the no-nonsense man, the one who doesn’t try too hard. He is who he is and isn’t fooled by the bells and whistles or gimmicky tricks. We are for the guy who isn’t intimidated by grooming products." Does the fact that this was made for men make me like it less? No, it's a good lotion that doesn't leave me sticky and isn't strongly fragranced. But Marlowe themselves market this as a body lotion specifically for men, so I am not sure what it is doing in this box.

The Bless Box May 2019 cake

Foodstirs Mug Cake Mix – Listed Value $1.99

Look, I like cake and I am always happy to have new mug cakes for when the cake craving arises, but Foodstirs needs to get on Betty Crocker's level and include a frosting packet- cake without frosting is a muffin, thank you very much. This is made with organic ingredients, comes in at 280 calories, and it actually tastes pretty good (especially after I added cool whip since I was sans frosting).

The Bless Box May 2019 argan oil 1 The Bless Box May 2019 argan oil 2

Scentuals Pure Organic Argan Oil, 1 oz - Retail Value $22.41

I like having argan oil on hand to use as a multi-purpose oil. I'll use it on dry lips, dry cuticles, and frizzy hair, and I like that it doesn't break me out the way coconut oil does. I've lately been going through the tiny Josie Maran argan oil samples, so I am happy to have this bad boy for all of my moisturizing needs.

The Bless Box May 2019 sheet mask

Soo’AE Unicorn Glow Hologram Sheet Mask – Retail Value $5 (on sale for $3.50)

Subscribers received a surprise Soo’AE mask, which was a brand featured back in February. I like the brand and I am happy with the ingredients list on this mask, plus the fact that this is actually holographic is fun.

The Bless Box May 2019 ardell 1

Ardell Beauty Hydra Cream Lipstick in Fox Full Size! Retail Value $9.99

This was the "fave lip item" that all subscribers will receive a variation of, and this previously came in the May 2018 box. This brown shade is really not my color, however, the lipstick itself is very hydrating and comforting to wear. Once I applied it I forgot I was wearing it, and though it doesn’t last as long as a liquid lipstick it lasts surprisingly long for a hydrating lipstick.

Here it is swatched.

The Verdict: Sometimes this box is a hit, and sometimes this box feels like a mish-mash of products that don’t really make sense. Once again, I think this month was the latter. It is clear that actual thought went into those facial cupping tools, but I have no idea what they were thinking. That combined with the fact that the men's body lotion was included but not described as such really just left me wondering if there is an actual effort to curate this box, or if they just send whatever they can get a discount on. I did like the Soo’AE mask and the argan oil, and I will never turn down cake. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $110.87, which is below the promised value of $125.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but subscribe by the 17th to receive that month's box. From Bless Box:

Bless Box ships once per month, usually between the 19th and 22nd. If you subscribed on or before the 17th, you will receive a box that month. If you subscribed after the 17th, your first box will ship the following month unless otherwise stated.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Beware the packaging sucks the oil for the hair spilled over not one but two boxes I was billed for three I never actually received my subscription box. The second time the oil was dripping out of the box I was cleaning it up slipped on it on my porcelain tile and ended up in the Er with a bone broken in my foot! If that’s not bad enough(this happened yesterday) today I woke up to 2 more charges from this company! And never received my February box that I paid for and was promised I’d get after getting a refund then being charged yet again for it still waiting ironically that box actually has products I’d use! If you love getting a box full of face masks and eyeliner that makes you look like the walking dead then this over priced non understanding of your issues subscription is just what you’re looking for!

I got one great mystery box from them after that I have never subscribed it was the $19.99 box and I got way worth my money but I would never subscribed to this box – now if another mystery one came out for 19.99 I’d be all over it !

Good for you, Jessica. You have more common sense then me. Curiosity got the best of me and I tried the cupping thing and ended up with a purple circle on my cheek for a few days 🙈
That bring said… I enjoyed the dove foam which I wouldn’t have thought to buy if it wasn’t for the box. I used it all up and bought a new one that smells like coconut.

I am using the micro fiber cloths daily. The gold mask is fun, smells great and softens my skin, but nothing to write home about. The lip pie I got is from colorpop and I love it. And I will use the oil mostly on my hair.

All in all, I had fun. I believe the theme for these boxes is self care? I feel like I got my money’s worth but I can see myself cancelling in a couple of months.

I ‘ ve enjoyed some of the past boxes. Even though I have never been fond of the odd curation the box normally has enough items that I m ok with getting the box
However this curation is awful! Not thought out. I also dont like that have to email to cancel. Added annoyance to wait to hear back from the curator to see if its been canceled. In the meantime there are normally emails first trying to get you to not cancel.

The mens lotion should have never been put in this box. Unless maybe they are trying to have a couples box. Or felt the scent is neutral enough.

I canceled a long time ago. I still read the reviews hoping the box will get better, yet it’s only gotten worse.

This is the most random box ever! Speaking as someone who gets cupping done on a regular basis…from a licensed acupuncturist…I can’t ever imagine having it done on on the face! One of the goals of cupping is to encourage blood flow…and consequently, I almost always end up with red circles from the suction of the cups. Definitely not something I’d want on my face…

Jessica. I have to comment. I love your boundaries as far as the cups.
Keep being you.

I can’t get behind the recent inclusion of mlm brands in boxes, there’s plenty of products available that aren’t based on a predatory business model.

Bless Box has a free LSTN headphones promo now for July box.

which product is MLM? I can usually recognize them in these boxes, but nothing stuck out to me.

Perfectly Posh.

This box used to be really cool, but this just feels awkwardly put together.

I personally would not trust this company with 5 cents of my money, lol. Occasionally they advertise past mystery boxes, so I ordered one to see how I liked it. Unfortunately it was from a year and a half ago and multiple items were expired in it. I was hopeful that once I contacted customer service that they would surely make it right. Nope, I was told that the boxes are sold as is, but they would extend the courtesy of offering me 30% off my first box if I would subscribe…. Really????
