In every Stitch Fix Kids box, they include a pre-paid shipping envelope for returns.

Stitch Fix Kids Boys May 2019 info sheet front

I think it is cute that the information sheet has a maze on it for your kid, plus stickers, and the inside flaps of the shipping box have some activities and ideas for how to play with the box, too!

Here's the item list of the clothing they selected for my son, and their individual prices. The items total $167 but with my $20 styling fee applied, and the keep-everything 25% off discount, the total adds up to be $147.96.

The reverse of that card shows photos of each item (which I love because it makes it easy to reference the pricing sheet).

Plae Mimo Water Shoes - Cost to Keep: $34

I really loved these shoes, but unfortunately, Gideon said they were too tight (I think narrow because the length seemed right to me). What I liked about these so much is that they were a soft, waterproof material. They're called water shoes in the info sheet, but they would honestly be good to wear anytime. They also featured an elastic strap across the front to keep them on snug.

Toms Global Solid Webbing Tiny TOM Ray Sandals - Cost to Keep: $35.95

I like the Toms brand, and I think these sandals are great. I love the design and colors. The top strap has a soft pad that goes against the skin which is really smart. The soles were soft and my son liked walking and running around the house in them. My only concern is that my son plays so hard outside that I don't think these would necessarily be good everyday shoes because I tend to be cautious and prefer a closed-toe sandal to protect against an injury. Maybe beach/pool shoes.

Rumi + Ryder the Classic Short Sleeve Graphic Tee - Cost to Keep: $20

Threads 4 Thought Jerry Essential Drawstring Knit Short - Cost to Keep: $20

Soft, comfy shorts are a summer necessity for my boys. They're perfect for playing in. This is a nicely made pair. I like that the shade of blue looks similar to denim - it makes styling it easy.

Stitch Fix Kids Boys June 2019 blue striped shorts

Tailor Vintage Gio Seersucker Stripe Flat Front Short - Cost to Keep: $20

So, these shorts are all size 5 in this month's box, which is what Gideon wears in jeans for the length. However, I think size 4 works best for him for shorts since the length isn't really an issue like it is for jeans. Because of this, most of the jeans this month don't work fit-wise. These, especially, are really wide and big on him. The fabric, also, isn't quite our style.

Flapdoodles John Woven Cargo Pull On Short - Cost to Keep: $22

We experienced the same fit issues with these shorts, being way too wide. And also the same style issues - while yellow shorts could be cute, this fabric wrinkled super easily and was very thin and see-through.

Stitch Fix Kids Boys June 2019 shark shirt 1

Flapdoodles McGuire 2 Pack Short Sleeve Tees - Cost to Keep: $20

These shirts are really well made. They feel like they will hold up to washing and playing well. I don't like that they're a package deal. I  generally avoid words on my son's shirts. I don't love the "wanna play?" tee, though I like the other one. I knew he probably wouldn't get wear out of one of these two, so these shirts went back.

Stitch Fix Kids Boys June 2019 swim suit

Andy + Evan Tommy Printed Swim Trunks - Cost to Keep: $22

These swim trunks actually fit around the waist well but the legs were made with so much fabric that they were puffy, too. Maybe they were made that way for better movement and range of motion? I'm not sure, but the fit just wasn't working. The print is adorable though - zebras with sunglasses and snorkels.

Stitch Fix Kids Boys June 2019 pajamas

Rumi + Ryder Classic Short Sleeve Two Piece Tight Fit Sleepwear - Cost to Keep: $20

Summer PJs! Gideon actually needed some of these. His upstairs bedroom tends to be the warmest in the house in the summertime so short pajamas are perfect. They're soft, comfortable, and he loves the construction vehicles.

Flapdoodles Caelan French Terry Knit Shorts - Cost to Keep: $16

This second pair of soft shorts are also nice. I think a size down would work but because of the nature of the material and the drawstring, they fit okay. I like how the red stripes in these pair with the bright soles of the Toms sandals they included, too.

The Verdict: This month, Gideon's Stitch Fix wasn't one of our best. Because we had Gideon's bottoms sized up in his style profile so that he'd get the extra length in jeans, the shorts they sent were too big. That part is kind of on us though since I didn't go in and adjust that now that it's hot out. However, they sent 4 pairs of shorts, which I had marked to be sent "rarely" in his profile, and 2 of the 4 were styles that didn't match our taste. I have no complaints about the quality, though, which is always quite good to great; the pieces we've kept over the months have held up very well. I think the prices are pretty reasonable for the quality, too. It's nice that they send so many items per box - even if you just want to pick one item so you don't lose out on your styling fee, it's not hard to find at least one thing to love without spending much more than you already have with your fee.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you will probably get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 (styling fee) with free shipping and returns. The total value of the items inside is $223.95 according to Stitch Fix's invoice sheet. The invoice lists the cost of each individual item, and if I were to keep all of them then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $147.96 if I kept everything. That's a total discount of about 34%.

Can you please have someone else review the boys boxes sometimes? (Or any of the boys clothing boxes?) This reviewers personal preferences on kids clothing makes it hard to see what is typically that the majority of people would be ok with their kids wearing.

My son is about the same age/size as Gideon so I’m not sure how helpful this will be, but I also recently reviewed Stitch Fix Kids for boys: https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/stitch-fix-kids-review

Is there something specific you’d like to see more of?

Ashlea

Just as an FYI, Plae shoes have a strap system that allows you to get a longer strap for a taller foot.

Thanks, Ashlea! That’s a great concept. I think the issue was with how narrow they were, not the instep, but I’ll have to double check next chance I get to try them on him!
