SkinStore Limited Edition Men’s Collection Box Review
Our items came in a handsome faux leather bag.
Included is a little booklet that shows all of the products we will find inside the bag.
Time to dive in!
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, 4 ml – Estimated Value $22.13 (buy a full size 30 ml for $166.00)
I have reviewed this item before, and I still think it smells like baked beans. The main power ingredient here is the L-ascorbic acid, which is basically vitamin C on steroids. Vitamin C is great for your skin because it promotes collagen turnover and helps protect against free radicals. This serum is super lightweight and absorbs easily, leaving no residue behind. It is a perfect step before a nightly moisturizer, or use it alone if you like to keep it simple.
BABOR 3D Hydro Gel Eye Pads, 4 pack – Retail Value $29.00
While I can’t quite convince Will to use sheet masks, these clear gel eye pads are subtle enough when worn that I might manage to get him to try them. I did “borrow” a pair to test myself and I loved the plumping effect they had on my dull under eye skin. I have been a little under the weather recently and the firming and brightening was exactly what I needed to feel human again. I plan on stashing these in the fridge so Will can try a pair out after an afternoon of heat and yard work.
The Organic Pharmacy Ultra Light Moisture Gel, 75 ml – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $65.00
Will is a no-fuss kind of guy, so a gel moisturizer is something he will probably love. It is lightweight and absorbs almost instantly. It is worth mentioning the amazing scent this gel has! It smells like cedar and woods, and everything outdoorsy. The scent alone made this a winner in my eyes but if you care less about that, you will be happy to know this formula is full of aloe and jojoba oil, meaning loads of cooling and moisture.
Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask, 150 ml – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $58.00
UPDATE: This is not the full size, it’s 1/3 of the size. Estimated Retail Value $19.33
I have reviewed this mask before and my impression is pretty much the same this time around. I love this mask because although it does have clay, it has a lot less than most masks, making it less drying. It is full of charcoal and peat, which are wonderfully clarifying for pores. This mask is pitch black and a bit of work to remove, so I highly recommend using it before a shower and rinsing it off under the showerhead rather than in a sink. It makes quite a mess!
Murad Essential C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30, 1.7 fl oz. – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $63.00
Convincing Will to use sunscreen daily has become one of my life goals, and I might not ever truly accomplish this feat. I am willing to give it another try with this high-quality sunscreen cream from Murad. Along with SPF30, it has a nice healthy dose of that anti-aging magic vitamin C. It is lightweight and a breeze to apply, leaving behind a delicate citrus scent. If I can’t convince him to use it, I might just add it to my summer rotation as I love SPF.
Redken Brews Texture Pomade, 100 ml – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $18.00
Lastly, we have a clay-based pomade. Will does use a pomade product daily to keep his wild hair in place but still flexible. He doesn’t seem to be terribly picky about brands but I think he might really like the gel/putty texture of this product and the slightly gritty clay in the formula which will keep his hair from getting oily.
The Verdict: This limited edition bag has a total value of $217.46, which is a great value for a $69 purchase. Between Will and myself, everything will absolutely be used! This is a really excellent gift for any guy in your life, especially with so many of them being difficult to buy for. I love bringing bags like this home to will because he never buys skincare for himself or takes the time to research decent brands. I think my favorite items are the eye pads and the sunscreen cream. Will is going to be partial to the mud mask and the pomade for sure!
