Knowledge Box "Mindful Meditation" June 2019 Review
Inside our beautiful box was a card highlighting this month's theme of "Mindful Meditation" with explanations of the items we received.
The Little Book of Mindfulness: 10 Minutes a Day to Less Stress, More Peace by Dr. Patrizia Collard - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $6.88)
The first item in our box is a helpful tool in introducing us to mindfulness. I love the small size of this book (about the size of my hand) since it doesn't take up a lot of room and can be stored anywhere or stashed in your purse for when you need a moment! It is written by a mindfulness teacher who is also a psychotherapist and a stress management consultant. It is full of short (5 or 10 minute) practices that you can easily incorporate into your everyday life. It includes some ways to get in tune with yourself, such as checking your breathing, and also provides some simple moves you can do, like the cat stretch, which can help to relieve tension. In addition to all of the useful tips, they also give a brief introduction and a little bit of history about mindfulness that I found interesting!
This next item comes from a woman-owned small business and is made with all-natural ingredients. I love the pretty flowers inside the bottle. The base is jojoba and grapeseed oil and it has lavender, grapefruit, marjoram, and peppermint essential oils to provide a tranquil and meditative moment when you apply it to your wrists or neck. The scents I pick out the most are the lavender and peppermint, but the other oils really balance them out making this a very mild and calming blend. It smells heavenly and I will definitely be using this on my palms and inhaling when I need a moment.
Jade Roller by Zen Mamas - Listed Value $15
I recently jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself a rose quartz roller that I have been using every night and I love it for the calming and relaxing effects it has, so I was definitely excited to see a jade version in this box! I have already put this one in my fridge to use for mornings and moments throughout the day when I need to relieve some tension. I love that they included a beauty tool that can also be used in meditative practices - it makes perfect sense to me!
Sandalwood Mala Beads by Zen Mamas - Listed Value $8.50
Our next item is something I have seen used before (on TV) but never used myself. This strand has 108 mala beads that can be used for counting during daily mantra meditations. They are very lightweight and pretty, and the info card suggests using them as a necklace or bracelet while you count during your mantra recitations. I was glad they included a little card about how to use them, although the ink on mine is a bit light in some spots so it's difficult to see. I think the physical act of holding these beads and counting them will be a great way to stay focused when trying to meditate!
I like the cute tube packaging on these bath salts and how you can see the herbs inside. This is an organic blend of lavender, passionflower, linden, chamomile and lemon balm mixed with Epsom salt. It's from the same company as our roller bottle and again, the scent is not too strong. This time I mostly get the notes of lavender, but overall, it still seems like a fairly balanced scent that will make for a relaxing bath!
Verdict: This month's Knowledge Box introduced me to a new practice that I could definitely benefit from incorporating into my daily life! I love that they provided us with a few tools that we can use daily to focus on our goal of mindfulness and that they provided simple ways to do it. I think it's awesome that all of the products come from small women-owned businesses, and I love that they give back through their donation to She's the First! The stand out items for me were the book and the mala beads because they are so unique, but I love that the other items we received can all support the goal of being mindful and achieving more peace in our lives. This box cost $36.99/month + free shipping and it has a listed value of $52.14 which is great for a unique box with a great mission of helping women feel beautiful from the inside!
