Catalina Crunch Cinnamon Toast Cereal, 9 oz – Listed Retail Value $12.25 (buy 4 pouches supply for $49)
Fat 4g | Net Carbs 5g | Taste Score: 8/10
This keto-friendly cereal is vegan, gluten and grain free, non-GMO and sugar-free. The crunchy squares are sprinkled with sweetened cinnamon and pairs well with your favorite low-carb nut milk for a keto-friendly breakfast. Catalina Crunch describes the taste “like a piping hot Cinnamon Roll with icing transformed into cereal.”
This cereal was really good! Similar to pancakes, I’d written off certain types of food as never being keto-friendly. The cereal is a little thicker and crunchier than I expected it to be and would probably taste great in a trail mix. There is a very slight aftertaste that reminds you that there’s something “different” about this cereal but it’s not hardly enough to distract me from gobbling it down.
I tried the cereal with the macadamia nut milk (also included in this month’s box) and decided that I like the cereal better dry and as a snack. The cereal doesn’t soften much while sitting in the milk leaving it much crunchier than I prefer my cereal.
ChocoRite Yellow Cake Protein Bar, 2.26 oz – Listed Retail Value $3.00 (Buy a box of 12 for $25.99)
Fat 7g | Net Carbs 3g | Taste Score: 8/10
These chewy and delicious whey protein bars are gluten and sugar-free. It’s described as tasting like yellow cake batter sprinkled with white chocolate chunks.
Disclaimer: My bar came smashed almost flat at the bottom of the box so I doubt that the bar would look like this had it not been. But, the packaging was not opened so, I tried it! The description is quite accurate. It does taste like yellow cake batter, is chewy with almost the texture of caramel without the stickiness. Best of all, it doesn’t have the chalky and unpleasant taste I sometimes associate with protein bars. I like it!
Dang Foods Cardamom Chai Bar, 1.4 oz – Listed Retail Value $2.49 (buy a box of 12 for $33.20)
Fat 15g | Net Carbs 5g | Taste Score: 6/10
Craving a chai tea latte without the dairy and carbs? Dang bar to the rescue with this fragrant and sweet cardamom chai bar. It’s vegan, gluten-free and full of healthy plant-based fats from the coconut, cocoa and almond butter.
I love Dang Food snacks so I was excited to try this keto-friendly bar. It smells great. I don’t love it or hate it – it’s just OK. It’s not as favorable as it smells and is crumblier than I expected. I do like the crunchiness from the chia and sunflower seeds.
Fat Snax Double Chocolate Chip, 1.4 oz – Listed Retail Value $2.99 (buy a 12-pack for $29.99)
Fat 9g | Net Carbs 2g | Taste Score: 8/10
Knock out your chocolate craving with this soft-baked double chocolate chip cookie with only 2 net carbs per cookie! It’s the newest flavor to the Fat Snax cookie family.
Yum! There is nothing “healthy” tasting about these cookies aside from them being only slightly less sweet than expected. The texture is super soft, more brownie-like than a cookie. I think these would be even better if they had a nice crunch to them. The pack contains two cookies, but they’re really small so the serving really should be just one somewhat larger cookie. I couldn’t see myself eating just one of these chocolatey treats.
Kegenix Vanilla Shake, 1.27 oz – Listed Retail Value $4.99
Fat 10g | Net Carbs 5g | Taste Score: 2/10
Kegenix delivers meal replacement shakes in a variety of flavors that are keto-friendly, help burn fat, and control hunger and cravings. All you need is a cup of water to make this healthy shake that contains BHB, MCT, and protein.
Nope! This shake is definitely not for me. I could barely tolerate the smell or consistency. But, to be fair, I have never been a fan of shakes. This shake along doesn’t taste great but I imagine if other things were added like chocolate and peanut butter or strawberries and bananas, it could be good.
Milkadamia Unsweetened Vanilla Macadamia Milk, 32 oz – Listed Retail Value $4.99
Fat 5g | Net Carbs 0g | Taste Score: 10/10
Naturally sweet raw macadamia nuts are enhanced with vanilla for a rich and creamy milk substitute. It’s gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free and can be used on it’s on, as a keto-friendly coffee creamer, or in a shake.
I’ve tried endless milk substitutes and this is by far the best I’ve tried! I love regular, good ‘ole cow’s milk, but it doesn’t like me. This is the closest I’ve gotten to the taste of actual milk. There’s no off-putting flavors or aftertaste. It’s really delicious and instantly makes me want a few Oreos to dunk in it.
Mission Meats Tasty Original Meat Stick, 1 oz – Listed Retail Value $2.00
Fat 6g | Net Carbs 1g | Taste Score: 9/10
These 100% grass-fed beef sticks are not only savory delicious snacks, but they’re also backed by a big mission to change the world. Mission Meats donates 10% of profits to worthy missions to make lives better.
You would normally never catch me with a meat stick! But, this beef stick is quite delicious. It’s seasoned just right with a kick of spice at the end. I didn’t like the beef collagen casing but it was easy to remove and I wolfed it right down! I would definitely like to try more of these and in different flavors.
Pizootz Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper Peanuts, 1.45 oz – Retail Value $4.95 (found here for $2.95), Listed Retail Value $3.00
Fat 11g | Net Carbs 3g | Taste Score: 10/10
Oh, I love these! All-natural jumbo premium Virginia peanuts are infused with flavor for the most delicious high fat and low carb snack.
If you’ve never tried Pizootz nuts, do yourself a favor and order some now! They are incredibly delicious. The flavor is not just on top of the peanuts, it’s inside every bite. I’ve tried some of bolder flavors and was afraid that this sea salt and cracked pepper would be a little bland. They are not at all! Yum!
Stoka Nutrition Coco Almond, 1.8 oz – Retail Value $2.79 (buy a 10-pack for $27.90), Listed Retail Value $2.99
Fat 22g | Net Carbs 4g | Taste Score: 10/10
Made with all-natural ingredients, crunchy Stoka bars help fight cravings, maintain energy and satisfy your sweet tooth. You can eat them plain or crunch up the bars and add to ice cream or yogurt.
A for ‘Amazing’! This bar was so good! It’s crunchy, chocolatey, and sweet. It doesn’t have any odd flavors or taste and is actually quite filling. It’s not intended as a meal replacement but could totally be.
Sunbiotics Chocolate Probiotic Almonds, 1.5 oz – Retail Value $3.99
Fat 13g | Net Carbs 4g | Taste Score: 6/10
These light and crispy raw and organic almonds are coated with cacao powder and a potent probiotic blend. The probiotic blend is free of dairy, soy, wheat and has no artificial flavors or preservatives.
I love the addition of probiotics with these crunchy almonds but I don’t like the cocoa powder coating – it’s not sweet at all. The almonds themselves are tasty and fresh.
The Verdict: On the keto diet, one of my biggest challenges is finding healthy and keto-friendly snacks to hold me over in between meals. Keto Krate is a great box for discovering new snack options that are aligned with my healthy diet goal! Of the snacks in this month’s box, my favorites were the Pizootz peanuts and Stoka coco almond bar. The macadamia milk was such a treat. I’ve finally found a milk substitute that works! The only item that missed the mark for me was the vanilla shake.
Overall, I really enjoyed this snack box and appreciate the variety of snack options from sweet and salty to savory. Of the 10 items in the month’s box, I’d buy 7 of them again! I hope next month’s box is as good as this one!
