Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box – the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2019 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month contained the long-awaited Tetris themed bags!

English Laundry ‘Oxford Bleu’ Perfume, 0.34 fl oz – Estimated Value $9.00 (Buy a full size 3.4 fl oz for $89.99)

This perfume has fruity top notes of melon and oranges and I think the melon is what I didn’t love about this scent. The floral middle and moody base are much more my style so I appreciated this scent much more after its initial drydown. It is a great spring/summer scent because it is light a slightly fruity, with a super feminine feel. I just like more complicated scents so this is not for me.

Delectable by Cake Beauty Triple Citrus Blend Butter Wash Body Polish, 30 ml – Estimated Value $1.53 (Buy 236 ml full size for $12.00)

This body polish has a tasty creamy lemon scent and it is filled with little scrubbers that polish your skin without being too abrasive. It feels utterly summery, and the citrus aroma filled my shower as I scrubbed. I was happy that it felt nice on my legs since they are so sensitive and any sort of scrub can cause irritation and redness. This is a pretty solid and very affordable scrub option for anyone who enjoys citus scents.

Hey Honey Wild Berry & Honey Yogurt Recovery Mask, 15 ml – Estimated Value $10.29 (buy a full size 70 ml for $48.00)

I don’t know how I feel about this mask. It has a somewhat odd fruity yogurt smell that I don’t think I like. While it was absolutely hydrating, it left my skin feeling a little odd, like I couldn’t remove all of it. Weird sensation aside, my skin did look really plump and dewy after I wished it off, so I can’t complain too much. It was also a very pretty mask, pale pink with dark berry bits!

Fluide 7-Free Polish in ‘Secret Project Robot’, 10 ml- FULL SIZE! Retail Value $15.00

Oof! This polish is BLUE. I am one of those girls who always gets the same neutral color at the nail salon (hello, OPI Bubble Bath)  so this is a bit of a shocker for me. I decided to try it out and was really surprised at the coverage with just one coat. You could easily get away with just one, but two is over the top glossy coverage. The sheen is excellent and the color is so unexpected and fun. I think I might hang onto this polish for a day when I feel like going super bold.

The bluest blue! Two coats here.

Tetris x ipsy Lip Gloss in ‘Tetrimino, 4 g – FULL SIZE!

Want more Tetris x ipsy deets? Check out my review of the full collection here!

I reviewed this product already in my full Tetris x ipsy collection review and really liked it. It is rather demure, a soft golden champagne with much more shimmer than pigment. It looks great on naked lips or use it to top off a fave lippy.

Ipsy June 2019 beauty subscription box review lip gloss swatch

A subtle champagne sheen.

Verdict: This Ipsy Glam Bag is a little difficult to estimate the total value of since I don’t have a retail cost of that Tetris lip gloss. Without the bag and gloss values, you are still getting at least $35.82 from the other products, which makes for a pretty decent deal from a $10 bag!  There were some hits and misses in my bag this month. The perfume was a really generous sample, but I am not sure the fragrance is really my type of thing. The body wash and yogurt mask were both solid products but I couldn’t get really excited about them. The blue nail polish is TOTALLY out of my comfort zone but the quality and coverage are both excellent. I am going to hold onto it for summer toes. I loved the Tetris gloss and I am happy to add it to my collection. Even though I didn’t love everything in this bag, it is really hard to be unhappy with such value from a $10 subscription.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I ordered the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Vitamin C cream but when my bag arrived it was missing. I contacted CS & they said they’d send the item to me, but my replacement showed up, it arrived with a different item entirely. I contacted their CS again & they basically said I was SOL because it’s now sold out. I’ve since cancelled. The whole point of adding on an item is to receive that item. I really wanted to get that one. I’ve tried it at Sephora & love it but I’d rather pay the $12 add on price than $65 full price.

Anyone else’s bag lost? I got the DHL tracking link on the 8th, which is early for me, but it hasn’t updated since. I did do an add-on so I wasn’t expecting it early, but I’ve had ipsy for almost two years and it’s never come this late. I’m moving in July so I’m worried it won’t come in time.

Dora Rodriguez

Same mine hasn’t updated since the 13 .. I emailed Ipsy twice and they said to wait, that I should receive my bag within 10 business days after shipment .

Check out the thread on the glam bag plus review. Seems like a lot of us had shopping issues this month. They’re sending me a replacement but won’t say how they intend to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.

Has anyone else noticed the “improve your glam bag” option missing from their Membership section? They used to preview 10 products in the upcoming glam bag and you could choose “Love It” or “No Thanks”. That option is now gone.

So basically, I got ZERO Tetris products in my GB ☹️. Cus the envelope arrived open, I was missing the Tetris brush and I added on the pink/purple Tetris lip balm which was missing too!!! So I hope they do replace them, it’s the first time their envelope has ever arrived open, it’s CRAZY!!! I do get the GBP, so I did get the green palette at least…. July looks soooooo gooooood, I CANT WAIT!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍

My GB envelope arrived open how the hell does that happen????? Anyway, my pink Tetris brush was missing as well as two add-ons 😭 so disappointing considering how long it took to get here! Now gotta wait for replacements! But still… I got the red Tetris bag. How many of y’all got the pink or purple?

I got the pretty pink/purple bag:) My envelope was also partially opened. Not sure what’s going on with that. I did receive everything I was supposed to. I got the lipgloss in Tetrimino also and it is very pretty.

Hmmm. My bag was sort of open last month. But it was so full (add ons) that it had only one small piece of scotch tape holding it somewhat closed. I was missing my Pixie Glow Pads (definitely not a tiny item). When I contacted them, the asked me to please double check my pink envelope. What??? This is about a 3×3 container. I also had my glam bag, a Tetris shadow brush, a tube (in a box) and some kind of nose mask that did not fit in my glam bag. I told them there was no way the Glow Pads were in there and I just missed them. I suggested that when the 5×7 flat envelopes are getting full and bulky and don’t close properly, maybe it was time to grab a box. They did send me a replacement … in the flat pink envelope.

I received the red bag. Tetremino gloss, Tonymoly jelly cleanser, some black Neogen moisturizer, Gimme brown #3 and the insanely sweet perfume. I purchased the Goldfaden eye cream and th Benefit brown in 4.5. Unfortunately, they sent another #3 brow. So now I have two that I cannot use. I really wanted to try it. Maybe it will work for my daughter. Doubtfully since she us a light, golden blonde but you never know. This is still a good bag. I like the gloss.

I got my bag today and was so excited that I got the pink/purple tetris bag I was lusting after! (what are the odds) Mine also seems to be spot on, I have been really happy with what they send, but this is only my 3rd bag. This time I got the block party shadow, sugar blush, farmacy masks, neuma hair conditioner and elizabeth mott all over shadow brush. I also added the full size tetris eyeshadow, the tetrimino gloss, and the mad skillz gloss!

Huh… Just received my back, and it looks like I received someone else’s bag. The items were completely different from my review. Instead of the Pixi mud cleanser, FAB moisturizer, Tetris lipgloss, and sleep mask, I ended up with a blue nail polish, Tetris lip balm, Pixi lip gloss, and that I am trash fragrance. Oh well, besides the blue nail polish, which I’ll give away, the rest of the bag is okay with me.

I haven’t received my Glam bag for this month and payment was taken out of my account june 3

I still haven’t received mine either, but it’s supposed to arrive by 6/22. At least this month, I can actually see movement on my bag! Last month, USPS was waiting for it the whole month of May, so I finally had to contact them this month to send me a replacement.

I loved my bag this month! I got the purple designed bag with the purple lip balm. I don’t remember the balm name. Finally got a sundays nail polish which I loved the cherry color.

The sad part was my bag came partially opened and the add-on Sunday riley was missing. The good thing is that Ipsy is already going to replace it. 🙂

Same thing happened to me, Enid. I had a points redemption product that was missing from the bag after I found the mailer partially opened. Bummer but Ipsy CS is sending a replacement.

Megan K.

Glad you are getting a replacement Enid! Glad you loved your bag. 🙂

Ahhhh the anticipation waiting for my bag to get here! (I did redeem points this month & buy an add-on, too, so I know I only did it to myself, lol.) My bag is supposed to get here on the 20th, but all my DHL shipments have been super delayed. My Tetris set was shipped June 4 & was supposed to arrive the 12th,but didn’t get here til the 15th; my GBP was supposed to be here June 12, but hasn’t yet arrived.

tammy g

my 10.00 ipsy bag is lost somewhere out there…it was suppose to be here on Friday the 14th…I’ve traced it and I get nothing….this has never happened before…there dls is crap…

I so agree about the Hey Honey. I was not happy that I had to go online to see directions i.e. was it supposed to be a peel off, wash off?? The texture was like yogurt, which I get but it wasn’t really a pleasant feeling. It left my face feeling “dirty” sort of.

Cindy M

thanks…I did not realize it was peel off and I washed it off almost as soon as I put it on as I did not like the feel of it on my skin.

I’m glad I read your comment! I had no idea that it was a peel off mask…. no wonder why Megan said it was so hard to wash off. I usually read instructions before trying a new product, but I wouldn’t put it past me to also forget assuming it was a wash off mask.

Kim M

I don’t consider that I have sensitive skin, but this mask burned as soon as I put it on. I took it off as quickly as possible. I was really surprised since I assumed it would be mild with the yogurt and honey. I put it in the “gently used” bag that I’m passing along to my cousin.

Megan K.

I feel like yogurt products are always really hit or miss for me. Something about the smell and texture. Ditto on the instruction callout!

My bags still in transit probably lost somewhere in the phillipines .. sighs

I was surprised to find that I love the Tetrimino lip gloss. I prefer lipsticks and glosses that have blue sparkles, but I have the Tetrimino in the car for when I need something on my lips. I usually avoid gold as all cost…but this color actually looks good on my pastey skin.

Megan K.

It is one of those glosses that works really well with a bare face or with a face full of makeup. Glad you loved too!

Toni Marie

I love the tetrimino lip gloss as well and added 2 on to my bags because I really wanted to try it. getting the hey honey face mask as my bag, I hope that I like it… Ipy has such a great value this month… I’m excited and cant wait to get my products. That won’t be until the 22nd of the month… but I’m still excited…

Megan K.

Crossed fingers for an early arrival for you Toni!

I thought you got a great bag Megan! I would have kept everything included in your bag. 🙂 After reading your review, I realized that I never get any fragrances in my Ipsy bags 🙁 I have it marked as Often, so hopefully I’ll start to get some soon!

I finally was able to see the contents of my regular June just a few days ago, and I’ll be getting:

Tetris x Ipsy Lip Balm in L33t – I’m excited to try this! The color looks pretty bright in the tube, but the swatches I’ve seen of it makes it look very wearable.

Pixi by Petra Glow Mud Cleanser – Yay, a new cleanser! This was actually an add on to my Ipsy Plus

Hey Honey Sweet Treat Wild Berry & Honey Yogurt Recovery Mask – This was also an add on to my Ipsy Plus, so needless to say I’m looking forward to trying this too.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer – I love trying new primers, so yay! Also, this was my 3rd add-on to my Ipsy Plus.

Pixi by Petra LipLift Max in Sheer Rose – This was my sample pick, and it looks like a perfect color for me.

Overall, I’m super happy with my bag, and I thought it was so funny that they happened to include the three add ons to my Ipsy Plus. And, what’s even funnier is that while I was doing add-ons, I was thinking how maybe I should hold off since I didn’t know what would be in my regular bag, so I wouldn’t duplicate. lol! Well, I actually don’t mind getting duplicates of these products, since I wanted to try them anyways.

I also finally just received my May regular bag a few days ago too! It was a replacement bag, so it didn’t have my originally spoiled items, but they did a really good job at trying to stick to the same product types that were included in my originally spoiled bag. I would have preferred the products in my original bag as I would have kept 4/5 products, and with my replacement bag I think I only kept 2/5 due to the slight variances in the products.

Megan K.

L33t is really subtle in a great way Luna! I think you will love it. I love getting fragrances and though this one wasn’t for me, I appreciated the large size. Those small vial testers drive me nuts!

Haha, I’ve seen conspiracy theorists suggest that ipsy is intentionally mismatching profiles so that people will buy more add-ons. Your experience shoots some holes in those theories!

I know I shouldn’t say anything because I’ll jinx my good luck, but ever since having re-subscribed earlier this year, Ipsy has been virtually spot on with my preferences. In the past (I subbed off & on starting in 2016), I’d keep on average 2 or 3 products in my bags, because they always included products that weren’t for me (I can only remember one time where I kept everything). But this year, I’ve only gifted 5 items total (including the 3 from May’s replacement bag). They’ve really been sticking to sending me repeat product types I have marked as Often (primarily sticking to skincare and primers in my regular bag & mascaras in my Plus box), and the shades for lip products have been spot on. Now my Ipsy Plus on the other hand could use some improvement. I usually only keep 2 or 3 products because I continue to receive makeup products I don’t use like palettes & eye/lip liners. I know they only have a very limited stock to choose from compared to the regular bag, plus the fact that I really do love what I actually keep, so I don’t mind too much. But it would add another level of excitement if there was a box or two that fully matched my preferences. 🙂

Well I seem to always get the opposite of my profile, no matter what I do. I have lip stuff rated “rarely” yet I am getting a lipstick AND a lip gloss this month. wtf, Ipsy?

Only brand related, but the Fluide lip gloss is amazing. I bought a couple full sized products from their site and they arrived super fast. I’d like to see more from them in upcoming months.

I am not a gloss girl, mine is up for swap {click on my name} but is really pretty in the tube and glad to hear that you like it.
