Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2019 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Ipsy Glam Bag May 2019 Review

My bag this month features skincare, makeup, and a makeup brush. Let’s see what I got!

A little card is included with info about the theme and other subscriber info each month. There's also a product list with tips on how to use each one. This info is also available on your account, but I love having it right here in the bag.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their five items. May's bag is covered in multi-colored glitter and has a cute mini tassel zipper pull.

Sunday Riley Good Genes, 5ml - Estimated Value $17.50 (Buy a 30ml full size for $105)

I've seen this product in a lot of subscription boxes lately and it's got a lot of hype. I'm an avid AHA user, so this glycolic based serum is something that fits well with my routine. It's light and sinks in fast leaving a smooth finish. I can't use it every day because it causes a little redness and flaking on my skin, but 1-2 nights a week followed by a rich night cream keeps my skin glowy and clear.

F.A.R.A.H. Brushes 22E Shade & Blend - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $22 (found here for $17.60)

This brush went straight into my travel makeup bag since it is dual-ended and multi-purpose. I like to carry the fewest number of brushes when I travel. Plus, I don't like to put dual ended brushes in my brush holder cup on my vanity. The fluffy side is perfect for blending and the flat side can be used to pack on color or apply detailed contour to the nose. The synthetic bristles are soft too. The holographic handle is an Ipsy subscriber exclusive.

Estate Cosmetics Lip Icing in Drip - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $10

I love neutral glosses for summer time. This one is great because it keeps my lips moisturized for several hours without feeling sticky. It's smooth and light with the slightest hint of pink shimmer and a delicious scent.

Pixi by Petra H2O Skindrink, 0.41 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.64 (Buy a 1.18 fl oz full size for $22)

Ahh...I can never have enough hydration! This super lightweight gel feels soothing and hydrating as soon as I put it on. I tried it both in place of my usual hydrating serum and in place of a primer to test it out in both scenarios. I think it's work best as a light primer for me since it has dimethicone and leaves a soft, velvety texture on my skin. The glycerin in it helps keep my face moisturized throughout the day for a dewy look.

BareMinerals Dew Mist Setting Spray, 10ml - Estimated Value $2.80 (Buy a 100ml full size for $28)

I've been a BareMinerals user since high school and am happy to try out this new setting spray. My main reason for misting on this type of product is to get rid of any powdery/dry texture after applying my makeup and to refresh my skin throughout the day. This is perfect for me! It smooths out my skin post-makeup and gives me a dewy pick-me-up mid-day when my skin starts to dry out. It truly does leave a dewy look though, so if you're after a long-wear, matte finish, this one isn't for you.

Verdict: My May Ipsy Glam Bag has a value of $59.94 which is great for a cost of $10. I feel like the selections are well-suited to my skin type and that I'll use each item. My favorites are the lip gloss and dew mist. This is one of the best, inexpensive beauty subscriptions if you want to try new items and play with new colors.

I received the lip icing in my bag as well and after trying it on it went straight into my makeup bag. Its a great sheer shade for summer and for days when you don’t want a lot of color on your lips. I also received the dual-ended brush and I love it.

I think the good genes is lactic acid not glycolic acid, right?

Nicole

Yep, it’s lactic unless you get it in the UK, then it’s a glycolic version.

Actually both versions are available in the U.S. (on the Sunday Riley website for example.) I have been using the glycolic since November of last year. But the version Ipsy provided in this bag was definitely the lactic.

Michelle

Yep, you’re right
