April 2019 Dapper Dog “Pupchella” Box Review

April’s box theme this month is festival inspired – pack your bags because you’re heading to Pupchella!

Murray is ready to dig in!

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Bandana 1

Dapper Dog Flower Crown Llamas Bandana – Listed Value $25

This month’s bandana is a little different than last, and I think it is an improved design.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Bandana 2

Here is the bandana totally unfolded; the size and shape made it really easy to tie on Murray, and I only had to fold it twice to fit him.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Bandana 3

Murray is feeling relaxed and confident in his adorable new bandana. The festival theme is an interesting choice for a dog box, and we are loving it!

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Biscuit 1 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Biscuit 2

Bocce’s Bakery Unicorn Shake Biscuits, 5oz – Retail Value $5.50

Bocce’s crunchy biscuits are a new household favorite here, thanks to Dapper Dog. This variety only has four ingredients and no preservatives; I love a simple ingredients list, which is so rare to find for our furry friends.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Biscuit 3

Bocce’s Bakery makes all of their goodies in the USA, and this particular variety has oat flour, beets, cranberries and vanilla making it a sweet wholesome treat for a pup that loves to snack.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Kong 1 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Kong 2

Kong Cozie King Lion, Small – Retail Value $4.29

This sweet little lion is Murray’s new best friend. He’s been carrying it around the house since I gave it to him–so cute!

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Kong 3 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Kong 4

Kong is a trusted brand of dog toys, so I was also happy to see this toy in this month’s box. King Lion has an extra layer of material, making it a really solid plush; however, it is really hard to find the squeaker. It only squeaks when I punch it, so there’s no way Murray will be able to squeak it, although he loves it regardless.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Cactus 1 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Cactus 2

Petlou Plush Cactus – Retail Value $8.40

I was shocked at how much Murray loved this simple cactus. It is a soft plush with a little bit of crinkle to it when squeezed, and there is a squeaker located somewhere inside of it.

We also had a hard time squeaking this toy, although it was a little easier than the Kong toy–once again, not a dealbreaker for the doggo!

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Meat 1 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Meat 2

Farm Hounds Premium Duck Treats, 4.5 oz – Retail Value $14.99

This is the type of treat that really drives Murray insane. He lives for meaty treats, and this duck blend makes his tail wag incessantly.

The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Meat 3 The Dapper Dog April 2019 - Meat 4

Farm Hounds is another great brand whose treats are certified humane, pasture-raised and hormone/antibiotic free. This treat is made up of 100% duck without any junky fillers.

Verdict: Murray really enjoyed unboxing this month’s Dapper Dog! He looks great in this new bandana, was impressed with the plush toys this month, and the featured treats had him begging for more! This month’s box has a value of $58.18, which falls a little short on DD’s promised value of $65, but for what we got, I definitely think the $35 a month subscription price is worth the happiness it brought to my good boy.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Monthly cut-offs are the 20th of each month to get that month’s box.

COUPON – Save 10% off your first shipment with coupon code DAPPERDAPPER

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99/month with free US shipping; here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Dapper Dog Bandana: $12.73
  • Bocce’s Bakery Treats: $2.80
  • Farm Hounds Treats: $7.64
  • Petlou Cactus Toy: $4.27
  • Kong King Lion Toy: $2.54

Put another way, each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $6. I think that’s a great value for what we received this month!

  1. Awww Murray is adorable!! He looks just like my white mini schnauzer, Cloudy. I love the bandana on him; he looks very dapper. My dogs, especially the 2 schnauzers, hate clothing and find ways to take them off and destroy them very quickly.

  2. What a handsome westie! I had one many years ago and she was a dignified and soulful little buddy.

  3. I enjoyed this review mainly bc of the adorable photos of Murray. what a lucky doggy! I have a westie too!

  6. Love the review and Murray!! What happened to Eric and Buckles???

  7. I had this sub for a 6 month period (currently taking a break on boxes). I was really pleased overall with everything I received. I felt it was worth the cost. In fact, my dogs current favorite toy is a plush watermelon we got in this box.
