The Mr. Collection is a monthly clothing rental subscription for men. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like. When you are done wearing the pieces, you send them back in the included pre-paid bag. You have the option of buying any item at a special member discount price just in case you can’t bear to part with it.
The Mr. Collection has several different plans to best fit your needs.
They also have The Ms. Collection for women. Check out our The Ms. Collection reviews to learn more!
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Premium Once a Month plan, which sends 4 items for $69 per month (plus free shipping).
Each pack includes 3-4 pieces of quality, designer, casual clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.

The Mr. Collection March 2019 Review
This month, John's stylist included 2 button down shirts, a jacket, and a pair of pants. Let's see how he wore them!
The info card includes a handwritten note from Annie, John's stylist this month, and some information about how the subscription works. There is also an invoice that shows the member price for each item in case he wanted to purchase anything.
Civil Society Zip Bomber, L - Retail Value $95, Member Price $76
John really liked this bomber jacket when he was pulling it out of his pack. The fabric (65% cotton/35% poly) is comfortably thick with a smooth-textured olive exterior and fuzzy navy interior. He isn't a fan of the fit though. Unzipped, it looks ok, but it looks awkwardly long and tight when he zips it up. The back zippers are a bit weird too; I'm not sure what they are for.
Original Penguin Heritage Fit Dress Shirt, 15.5, 32/33 - Retail Value $79.50, Member Price $63.60
I love when John wears shirts in blue tones and I'm pretty sure our stylist knows that. The tiny pattern is full of pretty colors that look light blue from afar. The fabric is smooth and has a nice thickness and the details – contrasting neck and button panels – make this stylish shit stand out. Unfortunately, it is way too tight for John and he couldn't get it on without fear of ripping it. I'm not super familiar with men's shirt sizing, but I think the problem may be that it's a size too small and slim fit.
The Normal Brand Plaid Shirt, L - Retail Value $78, Member Price $62.40
This shirt looks great on John! The cotton fabric is smooth and soft and, "not too crisp," as John says. He likes the navy and orange windowpane plaid pattern and the details like the contrasting collar and bear tag. As he was trying it on, he noticed that there was a hole at the cuff and stains on the cuff and pocket. This is the first time we've experienced damage or stains on any of the items he's received. I think this one may have missed its cleaning after the last subscriber.
Ben Sherman Pants, 34/32 - Retail Value $79, Member Price $63.20
I appreciate when our stylist included bottoms in John's pack, but this pair just didn't do it for him. The mushroom-grey shade does work well with a lot of colors but it tends to look a bit bland. The quality of these is nice though and I think if he had received a shade darker or lighter, he would have liked them more. The biggest issue is that they are too long and not the right style to support a cuff.
About Returns:
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Mr. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned.
The Verdict: John didn't have great luck with his pack from The Mr. Collection this month. He wasn't able to wear his items out either because of either fit or style issues. And, the only item he liked had some damage and was soiled. Though John just returned the items this month, he could have reached out to customer service for help. They have always been wonderful when we've had questions or concerns. This pack had a retail value of $331.50, and for a cost of $69 with free shipping, I think it is a great way for John to try nicer brands that he might not otherwise. The personal note from the stylist is something John really likes since they often give him styling tips for the included items.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than John's. Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new, styled looks every month. Since there is no way John would spend this amount to buy clothes at this retail value for himself, it’s great for him to be able to wear high-end clothing for a flat rate. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what he paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- Civil Society Bomber - $19.77
- Original Penguin Shirt - $16.55
- The Normal Brand Shirt - $16.24
- Ben Sherman Pants - $16.44
