My Fashion Crate April 2019 Review

They always include an insert with descriptions of the items and their value. The front side lists everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box and they include pictures which I always appreciate.

Darling Striped Blouse, Size L - Listed Value $45

This lightweight top feels very much like a warm weather top with those white and dusty blue stripes. I always have a huge issue with button up tops fitting me across the bust, but this one actually fits pretty well and it even features a strip of fabric that hides the buttons on the front as well as any gapping between them. That little tie on the back of the neck is kind of cute, but I have to say I do not like the way it fits here - it feels boxy and shapeless and not flattering at all.

While I probably wouldn't normally do this with a black cami underneath, I like it styled this way and feel like I could add some capris and channel Baby from Dirty Dancing in this outfit. What do you think? Can I make this work?

OMG! Mega Hair Band by Double Dare - Retail Value $8

OMG! This is so not my style at all, but my four-year-old daughter saw me wearing this and said, "aww, you look cute!" While I can't quite get down with the giant bow look, I do love that this headband is super soft and comfortable and it is perfect for keeping my hair out of my face when cleansing or applying a mask.

While the bow might be cute, I will definitely be opting to wear it this way with the bow part removed. This is a bit more subtle and more my speed! I love that removing the bow piece is an option!

OMG! Hair Up Bow Pin by Double Dare - Retail Value $10

These little bow pins are a bit more subtle for me and have already come in handy several times for holding sections of hair up while I'm fixing my hair. The bow part is removable on these too leaving just two simple black clips. They work well and since they are metal I see them holding up a lot longer than that plastic clips I usually use which seem to keep breaking on me! Another great accessory I didn't know I needed!

Stockholm Rose Nourishing Hand Cream by Duft & Doft - Retail Value $8.66, Listed Value $12

This Korean hand cream comes with an inner foil seal and would make a nice gift with its cute packaging. It contains shea butter, vitamin E, collagen and hyaluronic acid to moisturize your hands. While it felt a tad greasy to me at first, I was surprised at how quickly it absorbed and how soft and smooth it left my hands. I also really liked the nice clean cottony rose scent it left on my hands. I'm not sure why they listed the value as $12 though?

iDecoz Silver Leather Phone Pocket - Retail Value $9.99

This faux leather phone pocket features 3M adhesive on the back so that you can stick this to the back of your phone. It holds up to 5 cards plus cash and claims to leave no residue once you remove it. I think these are such a great idea if you need to pack lightly and want to carry just the basics with you. Although I don't know if I'm brave enough to stick it to the back of my phone, I'd be open to testing it out on a case!

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Classic Gray Jacket - Listed Value $55

I'm still not too sure how I feel about this jacket! At first, I could not figure out what it would go with because it looks like a trench coat, but it's made out of a silky material and is somewhat thin and lightweight. I alternated between feeling like I was Inspector Gadget to thinking it could be kind of cute as a light spring jacket over a dress. I really loved the way it felt and how it fit when I wore it and I love the gray color, but I just don't know what to pair it with. There are no buttons on the front, just a tie, and since the material is somewhat silky, it doesn't stay closed really. This is definitely a piece you have to see in person to get the full effect though!

Black Floral Lace Sock - Listed Value $9

This item was just a huge miss for me. I really cannot think of when I would wear them and the card reads "enjoy a pleasant day lounging around the house in these socks flaunting cozy fabrics and a hint of stretch for all day comfort." These don't strike me as lounging around the house socks and I feel like the two different lace/mesh patterns are a bit odd. They were soft and definitely breathable since they were so open, but I wouldn't think of these as a comfortable pair of socks and since the lace was so delicate, I wouldn't really want to walk around in them without shoes for fear of putting holes in them.

Verdict: I was a bit wary when I first opened this package from My Fashion Crate, but in the end, I was pleasantly surprised by a few items. The OMG! headband and clips at first glance were not quite my style, but they are definitely useful items that I have been and will continue to use and I love that I can remove the bows for a more subtle look. The hand cream was nicer than I expected and the phone wallet is another useful fashion item that makes sense in this box. The clothing choices were a little odd for me and I'm not sure I can make them work or not, so overall, I'd say this box was kind of a mixed bag. I do think that the clothing prices in this sub feel a bit inflated, but they are always worth more than the average cost of $7.99 for each of the 7 items in this $55.90 box.

The total for the Premium box comes to $145.66 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $81.65 which is still good for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received the gray jacket and lace socks valued at $64.

When will we start seeing spoilers for May 2019? I can’t wait! Don’t we usually find out spoilers by now

This was not there best box I did like the hand cream. When do we find out about Mays box I hope that one is better because they are expensive to keep buying and not liking the items

Let’s all be honest here: Brandi just finally received a regular box like the rest of have received, from My Fashion Crate, asked WTAH, and cancelled. They are so irrelevant now.

I bought the smaller version of this box and I agree – Brandi is a great sport. I do like the top and I sew so I’m going to fix the top, but those hair “things”! Fortunately I have a niece with little girls and they’ll get a laugh out of them, but I need to never buy this box again. The phone pocket falls into the category of items that I hope I never see again in a box. The hand cream is fine. So not a total loss, but not worth the price.

Wow, what a horrible box. None of that stuff was worth the money. The clothes looked so cheap and when you tied the shirt it looked cute but still not worth more than 50 cents at goodwill! The white head band is literally supposed to be for wearing while you wash your face, it comes from the the OMG brand and I got it free when I bought one of their sheet masks. Again, I got it free with a sheet mask. So the fact that they included those and the clip pretty much means they didn’t know what else to do with them. I honestly can believe that they could take $50 from someone and send this this box and even think that it’s a fair trade. I’m shouldn’t be but I’m shocked. I would have asked for my money back had I paid for this box.

Woah. This box was a train wreck IMO. The socks were suppose to be cozy? 😂

Oh boy. I appreciate you trying to be positive, but let’s be honest. That’s a bunch of flea market garbage you just had to review.
