Gwynnie Bee April 2019 Review
This review is of the 3 items at a time subscription from 3/21 through 4/20.
JESSICA HOWARD - Floral And Striped Tie Sleeve Shift Dress
I started off the month with this stylish dress from Jessica Howard. It is 100% polyester and fully lined. I love the stripe and floral combination! I also love the ties at the sleeves. The floral makes it feminine and pretty, while the stripes keep it looking sharp. It's a perfect dress for spring!
GILLI - Navy And Yellow Fit And Flare Dress
I have to say, I was really disappointed about this knit dress. The floral print is one of the most unique and beautiful prints I have seen in a while, and I was really excited about getting and wearing this dress. But alas, the cut is all wrong for me. I didn't wind up wearing it anywhere. I still think this dress would look amazing on someone with the right shape for it, though.
ALEXANDER JORDAN - Ribbed Sleeves V-Neck Sweater
This cotton knit blend sweater is a good reminder to me to keep my Gwynnie Bee closet current. Items that you would like to try are stored in your "closet" in an area called "on the rack." You add and remove items from the rack, and those are the items Gwynnie Bee chooses from to send to you. So, it's important to pull warm pieces off in the spring and lightweight pieces off in the fall. Although this is a lightweight sweater, it is already way too warm here in Georgia for a sweater. Luckily, I had a quick trip to Chicago around this time, and I was able to wear the sweater there. It's a fantastic sweater! It's really soft, and I like the light colored speckles in the fabric.
UNIVERSAL STANDARD - Slim Cut Black Seine Ankle Jeans
These jeans are super black, I love that! They are also nice and sturdy, with only a tiny amount of stretch. The other thing I really love about them is that the hardware is rose gold. So pretty! In the second picture, it looks like regular gold, but it is more of a rose gold tone in person. The other thing the second picture shows is that perhaps even because of the super dark black, they pick up lint very easily, and it shows. After a day of wearing these, I looked pretty furry, to be honest. Nonetheless, I enjoyed wearing them.
LEOTA - Honeycomb Jacquard Circle Dress
I guess the lesson here, as with the Gilli dress above, is that fit-and-flare is not a good cut for me. This dress is a thick polyester with a very cool dot texture throughout. I also really like the color, which makes it a real shame that it is not a good cut for me.
NY COLLECTION - Zip Front Pocket Stripe Top
What a cute top! The body of it is a poly blend knit, but the pink yoke is chiffon. It is cut a little closer to the body than I thought it would be, but I actually think it looks pretty good. This is a lot different from the styles I normally wear, so it was a fun diversion for a day.
LEOTA - Blue Plaid Perfect Faux Wrap Dress
When I saw this dress on the website, I thought the print would be a little more seasonal, like a gingham, but it is really a sort of a plaid flannel print. I didn't like the print much. But the real issue for me is the chest! It was really gaping open, and in this picture I have pulled it closed as much as I can and it still plunges more than I am comfortable with. Thank goodness for camis. It is also an unlined poly/spandex blend, which kind of capped off my judgment of this dress as a miss for me, unfortunately.
TRES JOLIE - Poppy Floral Ruffle Short Sleeve Blouse
I absolutely love the print on this polyester top! It is so vibrant and perfect for spring! The sleeves with their double ruffle are also really cool and different. Moreover, the cut is really flattering on me! I love it!
The Verdict: I love Gwynnie Bee! This month there were a couple of misses, but I had a good turn-around rate. I was still able to wear lots of beautiful pieces that I enjoyed. My favorite was the floral blouse, so pretty! I love having the opportunity to try lots of different looks, especially some that are outside of my usual style. This was another awesome month!
