BomiBox March 2019 Review
Spring is just around the corner! Now is a good time to start swapping out our winter skincare products and prepping our skin for the upcoming heat and humidity. This month’s box contains beauty products to get skin spring-ready with a healthy and radiant glow.
BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card provides a description of all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.
Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence, 2.02 oz - Retail Value $20.00
Hydrating and moisturizing Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence is made with Snail Secretion Filtrate that is rich in vitamins and protein. This essence promises to brighten and heal skin and improve skin texture.
I did a little happy dance when I found this Benton essence in this month’s box. I have been loving the Benton products from previous boxes and this was on my list of products to try. This product is thick, rich and super moisturizing. It goes on smooth, absorbs fast, and my skins look super hydrated after using this essence.
Beauty of Joseon Apricot Peeling Gel, 120 ml - Retail Value $23.00
This mild peeling gel exfoliates and improves skin appearance by eliminating dead skin cells. Apple fruit extract brightens skin and tightens pores and apricot flower provides anti-aging moisture.
My rule is that I leave peeling treatments to the professionals but I tried this peeling gel for the review. I applied the gel quickly, starting with my t-zone and then cheeks. I went back to rub in the gel and when I made it back to my cheeks, maybe 15 seconds later, it felt like my skin was beading up and lifting off. I’ve never washed a product off so quickly! Surprisingly, my skin wasn’t irritated at all and was visibly brighter and smooth. I'm not sure I'd use this product again especially not applying it for 1-2 minutes and 1-2 times a week as the product suggests. It just seems too strong for non-professional use.
Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel, 8.45 oz – Retail Value $6.93
Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel is a gentle and moisturizing body wash that works for all skin types. This gel is unique in that it contains 92% fermented aloe vera leaf juice. Aloe vera helps to soothe and hydrate skin.
I love how cool this shower gel looks! I also enjoyed using it and so did my husband - le sigh! It has a light earthy scent and was mild and nonirritating. It feels like the perfect summer gel.
Son & Park Beauty Water Mini, 30 ml – Estimated Retail Value $2.88 (buy full size on sale here for $22.75)
Natural ingredients in this beauty water cleanse and moisturizes skin while the willow bark and papaya exfoliate by removing dead skin cells. Skin is left brighter and smoother.
After washing my face, I applied this beauty water to a cotton ball and gently rubbed it across my face. My intention was to use this as a toner but it's better suited as a gentle cleanser. If shaken in the bottle, it actually suds up a bit. It smells so good and my skin actually felt refreshed after using it. I’m going to throw this in my gym bag with a few cotton balls to quickly and gently cleanse my skin after working out.
Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Mini 30ml – Estimated Retail Value $3.90 (buy full size here for $13.00)
This fast absorbing and intensely high hydrating toner contain 91.3% Milk Vetch Root Extract to re-energize and replenish your skin. This toner is also free of any artificial fragrances so it’s safe on sensitive skin.
I used this toner to calm my skin after using the peeling gel included in this month’s box. Two things surprised me. The first is that this product has no smell at all – not even a light scent. The second is that the product is slightly thicker than water and absorbed at an amazingly rapid pace. I enjoyed the experience but I can’t tell if this toner made any difference to my skin.
Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion Mini, 15 ml – Estimated Retail Value $2.42 (by full size on sale here for $23.20)
This treatment lotion is pure and gentle. It exfoliates dead skin and contains caffeine which is a natural depuffing agent.
This lotion is a lot thicker than it appears and a little goes a long way. I also tend to love products that have caffeine in them and especially those that can be safely used under the eye. I enjoyed using this product.
Holika Holika Pure Essence Mask Sheet Cucumber – Estimated Retail Value $1.10 (Similar mask found here for $1.10)
This cooling sheet mask reduces inflammation and soothes sensitive skin. It promises to increase skin elasticity and prevents the appearance of wrinkles.
I don’t often find any real difference in my skin from using face masks but it’s always relaxing to sit back and do nothing for 10-20 minutes!
I'm Sorry For My Skin S.O.S Green Soothing Jelly Mask – Retail Value $3.00
This mask is intended to soothe and cool sun-kissed skin. Spending too much time in the sun can leave skin sensitive from the exposure to the sun’s UV rays. This mask instantly cools and hydrates skin while the broccoli extract helps soothe sensitivity.
I recently spent too much time in the sun and ended up with angry skin that started peeling a few days after. I won’t make that mistake again! But, it does create the perfect opportunity to try this mask! There is a lot of product in this jelly mask that made it a little messy to apply. Once applied, I immediately noticed a cooling sensation that felt amazing on my skin and lasted even after I removed the mask. This is the mask that you’d want to keep on hand during the summer months!
The Verdict: The month’s box contained great products to either exfoliate or soothe skin. My favorite products were the Benton snail bee high content essence the Son & Park beauty water. I especially loved the beauty water and how refreshing it felt. I liked all the other products as well with maybe the exception of the peeling gel which was a slightly traumatic experience! I appreciated that the full-size products in this month’s box were high value but the sample size products were tiny – not deluxe samples as I’ve come to expect. Overall, BomiBox curated a great selection of products that I can add to my beauty routine.
This box cost $38.99 and has an estimated retail value of $63.23. This box has a lower retail value than the previous month's box and less full-size items. It’s not an excellent value in those aspects however the box represents savings great than 40%. BomiBox consistently delivers good value and the opportunity to try a wide range of Korean beauty products.
