Let’s dive in!

Beauty Fix April 2019 grape spray Beauty Fix April 2019 grape mist

Caudalie Grape Water, 75 ml – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $10.00

I am not someone who uses mists like this a ton, but I LOVE the Caudalie brand and would happily use any of the products from their line. This mist can use used for a few different things, but my favorite is in the morning before my moisturizer. This preps my dry morning skin and lets me use less product since the mist gives it a little hydration right off the bat! Who doesn’t want to make that expensive bottle last longer? You can also spray this over your finished look for a dewy finish. This formula contains super calming grape water that my skin tends to find very soothing.

Beauty Fix April 2019 Q10 mask Beauty Fix April 2019 Q10 mask back

DHC Q10 Mask – Retail Value $5.50

You would think with all the sheet masks I get I would be sick of them, but I swear I never will! I would use one a day if I could, and when I get tons in boxes I often do. This Japanese mask is full beneficial, skin-loving goodies, such as aloe, olive oil, and collagen. The serum is a yellow color, which is pretty unusual! The mask fit well and there was plenty of that serum to coat my skin. It didn’t have much of a scent but left my face feeling so plump and hydrated. It was a little sticky so I ended up using a toner right after then moisturized with light cream.

Beauty Fix April 2019 juice cleanser Beauty Fix April 2019 juice cleanser back info Beauty Fix April 2019 juice cleanser detail

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser, 2 oz –  Estimated Value $7.11 (buy a 6.75 oz. bottle for $24)

I have yet to find a Juice Beauty product that really knocks my socks off, but I think my skin is just too parched for many of their formulas, which are always heavy in fruit juices, especially citrus. They always leave my dry skin feeling a little drier, and this cleanser was no exception. (I would expect it to be a little drying since it is for acne prone skin.) The fruit juices just seem to strip my skin more than I like, though if you have oily issues/acne you might really like this! All the ingredients are very much there to help with those concerns: the cherry and lemon juices would be great at removing unwanted oils and cleansng pores. I will be passing it along to a friend with different skin worries.

Beauty Fix April 2019 primer Beauty Fix April 2019 primer back Beauty Fix April 2019 primer detail

jane iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer and Brightener, 0.24 fl oz – Estimated Value $7.06 (Buy a full size 1.7 fl oz for $50.00)

I liked this primer because it went on very smooth and was more gel-like than so many out there. It felt really lightweight and gave my skin a little glow without being shimmery. It did a fine job of minimizing my pores which made my foundation look miles better than when I wear no primer. My only issue was my nose because it almost seems like I can’t wear anything on it under foundation or I feel like my nose pores look so big and then the foundation coverage gets patchy during the day. I usually just skip priming my nose and that helps. Does anyone else have nose pore issues??

Beauty Fix April 2019 flower mask Beauty Fix April 2019 flower mask back info Beauty Fix April 2019 flower mask detail

Elemis Peptide4 Thousand Flower Mask, 15 ml -TRAVEL SIZE Retail Value $12.00

Firstly, this stuff smells like crushed flower petals. That s probably because it is made from flowers, but I digress. This blend has a really odd texture to apply. It literally has an almost fuzzy finish that looks like matte velvet while it dries. This mask does have clarifying charcoal and less clay (yay!) than other masks out there so I can use it on my dry skin without feeling stripped. I applied and left it on for about 15 minutes and then washed off with warm water. My skin looked great, less textured, and plump. In a sea of clay-heavy masks, I am thrilled with this more botanical option.

Beauty Fix April 2019 REN Beauty Fix April 2019 REN back info Beauty Fix April 2019 REN detail

REN Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mineral SPF, 10 ml – Estimated Value $7.20 (Buy 50 ml for $36.00)

If you read my reviews, you know that I am a sunscreen junkie. You should always have some form of sunscreen on your face. No serum in the world can totally fix that (completely avoidable!) sun damage completely, and with so many options out there you really have no excuse. I like the REN brand because it feels minimal and clean, and this formula is no exception. No real scent in this heavier cream. The matte finish actually makes it a great primer alternative and my foundation stuck to it like glue all day. My only concern is that this cream does suffer from a little bit of that white sunscreen-y residue/finish that is a little bit of work to completely rub in. Use less than you think you might need because that really helps!

Beauty Fix April 2019 polish Beauty Fix April 2019 polish back info Beauty Fix April 2019 polish detail

Naturopathica – Oat Cleansing Facial Polish, 2 oz – Estimated Value $22.40 (Buy a full size 5 oz here for $56.00)

I wasn’t expecting an oat-based cleanser to smell to botanical/floral, but it was a pleasant surprise. I also liked the little micro scrubbers that felt good on my face rather than feeling scratchy. You can use this as a normal cleanser, or leave it on your skin for 10 minutes as a mini-mask treatment. The oats in this formula made it soft and moisturizing and my skin absolutely looked brighter after using it. I am not familiar with this brand, but I liked this stuff so much I might take a deeper look into their line.

Beauty Fix April 2019 lash primer Beauty Fix April 2019 lash primer open

LashFOOD Collagen Lash Primer, 4 ml – Estimated Value $10.00 (Buy a full size 8 ml for $20.00)

I didn’t love this product. To be fair, I have yet to find lash primers all that effective or impressive enough to justify adding an extra step to my morning routine. This tube has a decent brush, but the formula itself was clumpy and I had a hard time hiding it under my mascara. I tried sleeping it but it just made my eyelashes lay in weird directions the next morning.

Beauty Fix April 2019 green tea mask Beauty Fix April 2019 green tea mask back Beauty Fix April 2019 green tea mask open

Boscia Matcha Magic Super-Antioxidant Mask, 0.44 fl oz – Estimated Value $6.43 (Buy a full size 2.6 fl oz for $38.00)

This feels like a real treat. I LOVE the Boscia brand and this is another mask that has some clay, but the other ingredients make it very hydrating! I love, love, love matcha beauty products and this mask was awesome for my skin. You apply then leave it for about 15 minutes, adorably green. After rinsing it off my skin felt so refreshed and clean. It did a great job of cleaning my pores without stripping my skin and my redness was virtually gone. Matcha + Willowbark is my power couple of 2019.

Beauty Fix April 2019 rahua shampoo Beauty Fix April 2019 rahua shampoo back

Rahua Classic Shampoo, 22 ml – Estimated Value $2.72 (Buy a full size 275 ml for $34.00)

This shampoo was a little too gentle for my liking. I only shampoo my roots and only about every 3 days, so I really need a formula that gets all my oils out. This formula was clean and lathered well, with a nice organic scent. It did give my hair a nice shine. If you are someone who shampoos daily and likes a nice shine in a clean formula, this would be a great option.

Beauty Fix April 2019 rahus conditioner Beauty Fix April 2019 rahua conditioner back

Rahua Classic Conditioner, 22 ml – Estimated Value $2.88 (Buy a full size 275 ml for $36.00)

I liked this conditioner much better than the shampoo. It had a great, subtle scent and was thick and almost buttery. I only condition my ends (apparently the middle of my hair is just ignored and neglected) and this formula was great for detangling my little knots and left my ends looking in much better shape than they actually are. What more can I ask for?

Beauty Fix April 2019 HUm vitamins Beauty Fix April 2019 HUm vitamins back

HUM Nutrition Flatter Me, 3 day supply sample/ 6 capsules – Estimated Value $2.50 (Buy 60 capsules for $25.00)

I am pretty skeptical of “flattening” vitamins. It would take a lot more than vitamins in my case. But I do like this brand and I will try anything once. This is only a 3 day supply, and I didn’t notice much difference other than being, ahem, incredibly regular. This makes sense because these ingredients are designed to help with nutrient absorption and optimize fat, protein, and carb breakdown. Maybe give it a try if you would like to be more regular, but I wouldn’t expect a flat tummy miracle personally.

Verdict: This $24.95 box has an estimated value of $95.80, which is lower than some of our past Beauty Fix boxes. I feel silly even saying that because this is still a massive value for a $25 box. I liked quite a few products this month. My favorite would absolutely be a tie between the Boscia Matcha mask and the oat facial polish. I also loved the flower mask, sheet mask, sunscreen, primer, and water mist. I think the only products I was not fond of were the Juice Beauty cleanser and the lash primer. There is always so much packed into this box that  1 or 2 misses seem to really not matter. If you are a skincare nerd, this is a box you should absolutely check out for its unique blend of new and staple brands and creative formulas.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

  1. Hi Liz,

Do you have any news about Beautyfix for May? It is April 30th already and no spoilers.

    • I just received my May box and I’m really disappointed.
No full sized products anymore, mostly tiny samples except the large sample of Oribe Gold Lust dry shampoo (❤️❤️❤️) and an okay sized sample of Alterna Caviar leave in spray conditioner… a spa headband, meh, a Tocca sample, scrubber, an exfoliating mask and ANOTHER sheet mask, Ahava hand cream, blah, a small Skin Medica sunscreen, a tiny NeoStrata eye cream( too bad it is so small) and a Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon( meh, again, already received one last year.
I used to be AMAZED by this box, underwhelmed now.
      too bad.

  2. LIZ….do you know what is going on with beautyfix for may spoilers?

    • Waiting to hear back. No news yet, sorry!

  3. Shouldn’t we have some of the spoilers for the May beauty fix box out by now?? I’m missing my spoilers. 😔

    • Me too!! I’ve been patiently waiting and now I’m wondering if the 1st spoilers will only be deluxe size 😕 hopefully not

    • No spoilers by April 29th seems unusual. Last month didn’t really have a hero item. I wonder if this month doesn’t either and they don’t want to trigger a bunch of cancellations. If you have an active sub, you might want to cancel today and see what’s in the box before you order.

      • I think your right. I’ll probably wait until the end of the day before I do cancel. I normally do not cancel but I’m going on a trip this weekend so if I can cut Corners a little bit I will do so but it would be much easier to decide once we had some spoilers out!

      • This could be true! But I still won’t cancel, this is my favorite box and I always love most of everything even if there isn’t a hero item. I am anxiously awaiting spoilers! I wonder if this is how they will do spoilers from now on? And I would be ok with that, I just hate that we expect spoilers and then it sucks to never get them

        • I cancelled as I did last month and then re subbed because I liked the box. That’s how I am doing it from now on so I am not stuck with too much I won’t use. I do love Beautyfix though!

  4. Great review I appreciate your easy to read style and the extra photos of each product! You definitely gave each item some thought, really nice work! Also this box is really tempting but I really need to use what I have already arggh 😅

  5. No full sized product…no tool…feels like the value of the box is going on. Cute stuff, but less of a value for the higher price.

    • Caudalie is full sized and the two 2oz products are hefty samples. Even though it’s not as high of a value as some of their boxes it’s still a good deal with a RV of $95 (evening out at approximately $2 per item), if they are things you’d like to try.

      • They used to provide a tool or full-sized product each box (and not like a $10 “full sized” water – like a $40 RV product at least) and highlight that as the “star item” for each box, but they slowed down on that a couple months ago and now seem to have pretty much given it up, so the value just doesn’t feel the same to me. It could be nice if you like small samples to try but not for me anymore in comparison to the value it used to have.

  6. I don’t remeber seeing most of these items in the spoilers so, for the first time, I skipped this box. Talk about FOMO! Argh… I almost want to buy it now at the higher price but must resist. I have serious product overload.
I also need a serious heavy cleaning shampoo. I am blessed with decent hair that never gets oily and only wash my hair about 3x a month.
Great review and thanks for always willing to share personal expierences or issues.

    • Davines “Oi” shampoo cleans hair incredibly well : )

  7. I did not get this box, I just did not want a mask type box, however I did order one of the other boxes they sell..the summer one, with sunscreen and summer beach bag I can use this when I go to florida soon…I do love beautyfix..

  8. I felt truly spoiled with this box this month. Well he might not be a high ticket value there were so many items to try that I am wondering if I’ll even get through it by the time I get my next box.

  9. I’m definitely in the minority, as I really loved this box! The only thing I gifted was the sunscreen, but that’s only because my super oily skin cannot handle a standalone SPF (SPF already pre-mixed in a moisturizer is fine though). SPFs tend to just sit on my skin and make my skin look & feel super greasy all day long.

My box was missing the Caudalie Grape Water 🙁 I was pretty bummed about that, but through a quick chat on their site they’re sending me a replacement. Yay!

Once I saw those supplements were called “Flatter Me” the first thing I thought was that they must make you go potty a lot… and sure enough. lol

I used two samples of that exact lash primer this year already, and I also wasn’t really impressed with them. However, I think I had the opposite experience of the commenters here… the samples I tried hardly had any product on the brush at all. Or rather, I guess I could see a little bit of product, but I could never see anything being deposited on my lashes. Well, as silly as this sounds, I’m actually still fine with getting yet another sample of this to try again. I love lash primers (I personally see a difference in my lashes (most times), plus it helps keep my lashes in good shape (i.e. no breakage or lost lashes)), so I’m always happy to get more.

I think I’ll stop here as I think I could continue to write a rambling comment on virtually every product in the box. haha!

    • I am glad they are sending you the grape water! I feel like you will love t (just from getting to know you through comments 🙂 )

The vitamins didn’t make me flat, but they did make me lighter. I guess that is a win?

  10. Except for the grape water, I’ve never tried or even seen, any of these products. That’s a win for me. I get to try out lots of new things.

    • This is one of my fave subs because even for someone like me (who sees tons and tons of products) there is always new things!

      • Same here! Discovering new brands and products is why I started getting sub boxes and this one ticks all the boxes month after month! I was very pleased with this months!

  11. I think the Rahua does wonders for making the scalp feel clean, sorry it didn’t work for you.

    • Admittedly, I am super critical of most shampoos. I only wash my hair every 2nd or 3rd day so I want zero oiliness. WHich is probably way too stripping for healthy hair, but I mean we all have our vices!

  12. Megan, it is a such a delight to read your reviews! I also just shampoo my roots and condition my ends and I totally laughed out loud when I read “apparently the middle of my hair is just ignored and neglected” haha too funny

    • Haha thanks AH! I am glad you enjoyed and that I have a friend somewhere out there with a neglected middle.

  13. You could try a very small amount of a mattifying primer w/o silicones just on your nose.😁

    • You guys have left me so many tips you are like my makeup nose angels. I will give this a shot.

      • I use a dot of rehydrated clay before primer. It keeps the oil away and doesn’t dry your nose out. It’s not a thick clay like a mask- it’s more like a gel that dries clear and matte

  14. Try eye primer around your nose area. I read this tip online and it really works.

    • So trying this. Thanks Anna! <3

  15. I actually liked the juice beauty cleanser. I live in Texas and the sudden weather change to 90 degrees has my skin breaking out like crazy. The cleanser leaves my skin squeaky clean and fresh feeling, just how I like it! Agree on the lash primer. Made my mascara clumpy when put over top of it.

    • I am glad it worked for you Alison! My skin is dry like the desert and I just can never seem to find something from this brand that works for me. I am glad that it did for you though, and that it was a big sample for that reason! 🙂

  16. Great review again Megan! 😍
I paused my BF this month because I was only interested in 2 products (oat cleanser and flower mask) so I’ll just haunt the swap boards for those. I’m also not much of a fan of Juice Beauty despite being a normal/oily skin gal. I’ve used their stem cellular line and purchased the full size products too. I did not see any improvement and I believe they contributed to my breakouts. I agree about the eyelash primer. I think it is just a gimmick to make us spend more money on beauty. It seems like such a time waster.

    • Totally agree 100% on the primer critique. Hey, I can spend my money on oils I don’t need instead! I am super good at that. Also with you on Juice beauty. I have tried a few things and I don’t think my skin agrees with much of it.

  17. I think I have the same issue my my nose but primer/no primer hasnt made a difference. Starting an aha has seemed to help with texture and then using a concealer on my nose(which seems to stick to it better) has seemed to calm down the patchiness

    • I am an AHA addict so I cringe at how bad it could be without it. I will have to try a few different concealers. <3

  18. I liked this box as well. Not their best but still a great box. I don’t like anything juice beauty, so that will get thrown out or given away. Everything else is great!

  19. I also don’t prime my nose for the same reason. Just on each side.

  20. I can’t wait for my box to arrive! It might not be a great box for everyone, but I love the variety of samples, minus the vitamins, those I personally prefer to pick on my own. I’ll give the Juice Beauty to my oldest to try, she has been battling acne for years. Maybe it will be a HG item for her, maybe not, but worth a shot.

Everything else I’m very excited to try out. BF has consistently been one of the best boxes for me out of the (too) many I get each month.

    • I love this box too Twyla, for the same reasons. The exposure to new and unique brands and products is a thrill. Thanks for reading <3

  21. Did anyone else think the shampoo and conditioner smelled like black licorice?? Hard pass for me! I gave it to my son who recently told me that he actually really likes it and black jellybeans. Every day he says or does something to make me wonder if he’s really mine. Then I remember I was there. 🤣

    • You’re too funny 😀 You sound like my mom. My mom & my brother are so much alike, and they often wonder what “happened” to me. lol!

  22. Skipped this box. Nothing exciting to me. Looking forward to May box. Love this box most of the time.

  23. The flower mask really is fantastic. I picked up a few from FFF and was not disappointed.

    • It smelled like a freakin’ floral DREAM!

  24. Great review!! I love this box, minus the juice beauty. Looking forward to trying the masks, the oat cleanser and shampoo/conditioner have worked really well so far. This is one of my fave subs by far 🙂

    • Thanks Beth! Juice beauty seems to be a polarizing brand! I am glad you loved the box and my review. <3

  25. Awesome review. I got this box bc it looked like a great array of products and lately they make less skincare in their boxes so when I saw this I had get it. I can’t wait to try everything and I love how u reviewed the vitamins lmao 😂

    • Thanks Angie! I was trying to be delicate about those vitamins, but at the end of the day…. we all go number 2. 😀😂
