The plants ship inside a cleverly designed cardboard box, which is intended to hold them safely in place during their journey. Then, each individual plant is packaged in a little puff of hay, which is secured with several rubber bands to hold them in place.

I love these little flower shaped succulents! This one seems to be in really good shape upon arrival! Like most succulents from this sub, it is rather tiny, but it looks to be vibrant and ready to grow. These can get pretty big, and when you truly make them happy, they reward you with tall slender stalks that sprout yellow flowers. They tend to multiply by growing little baby rosettes underneath their leaves when they spread out and have offspring of their own. I find them especially charming in those pots that look like heads, so the flowers can look like the face’s hair.

Though this little one has that brown spot, it is not a sign of poor health, but more a sign of cutting for propagation. This particular plant is very easy to propagate via cutting, but it grows so slowly that I never have tried it on similar succulents. The leaves of this plant can be a little more sensitive to light than other succulents, so be sure that if it is near a window the lighting is diffused with a sheer curtain or move it someplace bright but not directly in the suns path.

The Verdict: I am so pleased that the plants arrived in much better shape this month than last. Small plants are just the way this sub operates, so keep that in mind. I liked both of the plant varieties sent this month and thought they were both great testaments to the wildly different types of succulents out there to collect. This sub still seems expensive for what it is though, and I still recommend seeking out your local (and preferably independent) plant shops for larger plants at a better price point. If you find yourself in a plant shop desert (pun intended), this might be a great option for you to add to your succulent collection with harder to find varieties.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
