Peet's Coffee Peru Chirinos Organic Review

This month's featured limited release coffee roast is made from beans that are freshly harvested from the highlands of Peru with an altitude of over 20,000 ft above sea level. The tasting notes are minimal and only found on the label; this roast is described as "fresh and floral with apricot sweetness." I really enjoy this roast! I normally add some cream, sometimes flavored, but I always try it black before doing anything to it. This brew was so good that I just liked it black! The flavor and subtle sweetness were just right for me the way it was.
Peet's Coffee roasts your beans to order, within 24 hours of them shipping to you. It's fantastic and I can really tell from the second I open the bag and get the first inhale of the glorious coffee aroma. The beans stay fresh within 90 days of roasting.
Of course, they include tips and instructions for brewing the best cup of this coffee possible. It's key to use fresh beans and fresh, cold, filtered water. Their recipe for brewing this roast is 2 tablespoons for every 6 ounces of water.
When you sign up you submit your preferences for how many pounds per month you want in your subscription and also how you want them: whole bean, ground for drip, ground for espresso, ground for press pot & percolator, or ground for a commercial brewer.
Verdict: I'm really happy with my experience with Peet's Coffee Explorer Series subscription. I think it's a great idea to feature a different single-origin roast and I'm excited to try different brews that feel special and have a new destination to explore each month. They've announced the next roast: Rwanda Ejo Heza, produced by a Rwandan women's cooperative and described as "rich, red fruits and smooth butterscotch."
