LuckyVitamin Deluxe Sample Edition Beauty Bag Review 2019
My box came with this information sheet with an introduction and itemization of the items I received in my beauty bag.
Danica Beauty Bag – Estimated Retail Value $29.46 (Based on another design found here)
This bag is pretty large and the design is right up my alley. I still am amazed that they fit all the items in my bag in there! The bag is obviously roomy and is 100% linen. Danica Studio is also a pretty amazing company.
MyChelle Dermaceuticals Deep Repair Face Cream, .25 oz – Estimated Retail Value $6.67 (Buy the full-size bottle for $32, found here for $24.06)
This face cream is one of the more-liked items I got in my beauty bag. Though the formula was thick, it really brought moisture to my skin. The only thing I did not like about it was how it left my skin looking oily, but it didn’t feel oily. I will be using it until it is empty, but I am not sure if I would purchase it again.
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub, 1 oz – Estimated Retail Value $2.50 (Buy a full-size bottle for $9.99, found here for $7.96)
I felt this was the best product in my bag. At first, I was unsure how to feel about it. When I squeezed it out it looked like mashed-up seaweed and super gritty. But once I spread it on my face and began to work it into my skin, my skin felt soft and looked super refreshed. I made the mistake of falling asleep with makeup on the other day and my skin has suffered ever since, but this scrub has put me on a healing path. I will definitely be purchasing this product, and for the price, I would be foolish not to!
Coconut + Lime Tooth + Mouth Toothpaste, .75 oz – Retail Value $3.46 (found here for $3.29)
Coconut lime toothpaste didn’t sound enticing at all and as soon as I put this on my toothbrush, I admit I was a little hesitant to put it in my mouth. As soon as I put brush to tooth, I knew this product wasn’t for me. The paste was gritty and left my mouth feeling unclean. It may be the vitamins in the paste, but I am unsure. Either way, I did not like this paste at all and immediately had to follow up brushing with my normal toothpaste. This was not a win, and surprisingly it had nothing to do with the flavor.
The Grandpa Soap Co Witch Hazel Shampoo, 1 oz –Retail Value $2.71 (found here for $2.06)
The Grandpa Soap Co Witch Hazel Conditioner, 1 oz –Retail Value $2.49 (found here for $1.90)
I love shampoos and really enjoy trying new ones. I have really long hair and dry scalp and tend to stick to the more expensive shampoos for a clean, shiny and soft look. When I tried this, the last time I washed my hair was just a couple of days prior, so while my hair wasn’t filthy, it was time for a good wash. I am a strong believer of a little goes a long way and started out with a quarter size amount for my long hair. When I started washing and didn’t get a lather, I added more. Then more after I rinsed because my hair didn’t feel clean. I went through a little more than half the bottle just to get it feeling clean. I immediately followed up with the conditioner, avoiding my roots and focused on my ends. It really didn’t seem to condition my hair either. I figured I would see how it dried and styled. While I was blow drying my hair, it felt awful and looked greasy. This product did nothing for my hair, left my scalp feeling heavy and unclean and had the most unpleasant smell. To make sure it wasn’t just me, I had my husband try it too (he has a TON of hair!). He wouldn’t even step out of the shower until he used another shampoo, because he felt it hadn’t cleaned his hair either. All in all, we have deemed this not a good product for our thick hair. Maybe this product would work better for someone with short hair.
Coconut Lime Vegan Lip Balm, .25 oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $2.33 (found here for $2.21)
Coconut lime again. 😊 This time I wasn’t so hesitant to give it a try. I applied this as soon as I stepped out of the shower and it kept my lips moisturized and soft for the rest of the day. I have been seeking a good lip moisturizer and was excited to receive this one. The only thing it is lacking is SPF; I always try to use a balm with SPF to protect the delicate skin on my lips.
EOS Ultra Moisturizing Pomegranate Raspberry Shave Cream, 2.5 oz –Retail Value $1.45
As soon as I opened this beautiful pink little bottle, I was hit with so many yummy aromas. It smelled so good! The product was thick and I was so eager to try it out. I tend to shave using just soap as I have never been a big fan of shaving creams. When I applied this to my legs in my bath, the smell was really there and the formula had a nice coating. But once I started shaving, the smell disappeared and the product was left all around me. It was gross. I drained my bath and finished shaving in a shower. When I stepped out, I was left with no moisture and immediately had to apply a moisturizer to my legs to avoid them from looking and feeling dry. I wanted to love this product, but I just didn’t.
Nubian Heritage Peppermint & Aloe Bath Bombs, set of 2 – Estimated Retail Value $5 (Buy a similar set of 6 for $14.99, found here for $10.01)
These bath bombs were pretty small and definitely smelled of peppermint, even before I opened the package. Due to their size, I used both of them for my extra-large garden tub. There were not any whistles and bells with these bath bombs, they just smelled minty.
Freshwater Collagen Powder with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C, 3 individual packs 2.9g – Estimated Retail Value $2.53 (Buy the full-size version for $24.99, found here for $21.24)
The final item in my beauty bag were these sample packs of collagen powder. I do not like anything from the sea and won’t take certain vitamins due to fishy aftertastes, so I will be passing these on.
Verdict: I was initially excited when I received this box on my doorstep, it was huge! When I opened it up I was shocked to see such a small bag in such a big box. Out of the 9 items, I loved only 1 and liked 2 others. I am glad it wasn’t a super expensive bag and enjoyed trying out new products, which is the purpose of subscription boxes. I also get to walk away with a super cool cosmetic bag!
This bag costs $15.99 + $5.95 US shipping with a promised value of $50.00. The products totaled an estimated $58.60 (less with sale prices), so they definitely delivered on their promise.
