Frank And Oak Style Plan Jeans & Tee Review March 2019
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). Then, you can pick whether you'd like a monthly or a bi-monthly plan and set your budget for each box (under $150 or $150+).
Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up has about 12 products total on the page. The three products currently set to ship in the order are at the top of the page and marked with green check marks. The top section of the page includes items that have been picked based on your preferences, but recently, Frank and Oak added a "Featured" section at the bottom of the selection page that highlights some new/trending items that you can pick from, as well.
The plan includes three items, which you can curate for yourself or let Frank and Oak choose for you. I decided to do the picking this month and found myself with a lot of cool pieces to choose from. I'm so excited to have all of these essentials in my closet.
I got a coupon in my order for Bright Cellars wine, too!
Okay, let's check out what clothes I got.
The Billie Fluid-Twill Denim Jean in Medium Indigo, Size 30 - Retail Price $89.50, Member Price $79.50
I don't know if it's the angle of the photo, but I'm not feelin' myself in this cut of jeans. The Billie is a style I wanted to try a few months ago, but that sold out in the pair I'd ordered. (They refunded me right away, which was cool.) I like the high waist and the soft feel of the dark-wash fabric, but the slight crop doesn't serve my shorter legs and wider hips.
I'm a big fan of how they fit through my hips and butt, but I almost wish they were narrower (like skinny jeans) below the knee. Maybe I'll see how much it'd be to have them taken in by a tailor. They're super comfortable and the deep color is really versatile. It's just not quite the right cut for my body, I don't think.
The Stevie Tapered-Fit Jean in Roan-Rouge, Size 30 - Retail Value $99.50, Member Price $84.50
Tragedy of tragedies! These jeans just didn't want to wriggle up over my hips no matter how much I wanted them to work. It's a bummer since I have two other pairs of Stevie jeans that I wear constantly. I think I underestimated the difference between the Stevie High-Waisted Tapered Jean (what I've gotten previously) and the Stevie Tapered-Fit Jean (what these are). From what I've experienced, the Stevie Tapered-Fit Jean has a little less room in the hips and butt, though they fit the same way as the High-Waisted Tapered Jean through the legs.
TLDR—my booty needs more room than these jeans will allow. But not to worry! Frank and Oak has a really easy returns program, and all the instructions are right on the back of my invoice.
The Striped Tee in Forest Green, Size Medium - Retail Value $27.50, Member Price $34.50
That's right—those "black" stripes you're seeing are actually a deep, almost gray forest green. I like this twist on a typical black and white striped shirt (of which I have plenty). The pink neckline makes it springy and cheerful, too. The tee actually hits me right at my hip (so, right about where the wrist of my straight arm is in the photo above), but I tend to think tucking tees in looks best on me. (I just wish the rise of the jeans was a teensy bit higher! I love high-waisted jeans soooo much... can you tell?)
Verdict: Frank and Oak is one of my favorite go-to clothing subscriptions. Literally half my closet is Frank and Oak now, and I'm loving it, y'all. Everything is so versatile and washes/wears so well. I got a pair of jeans at Target on sale recently and was shocked how fast they stretched out as I wore them—I wear Frank and Oak jeans so often that I forget that jeans loosening up is even a thing! While these jeans weren't my absolute favorite in terms of fit and cut, I'm glad I got to try them. The company has a bunch of different signature cuts (my personal faves so far are the Patti and the Debbie), so it's fun to get to test them all out and just send 'em back if they don't work out.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the new $25 styling fee plan, you can log in 2 days before your box ships (you'll get an email alerting you of when it's ready to be previewed) to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!
New Deal: Use this link to get your first box with no styling fee!
Value Breakdown: The retail price for the three items I received this month is $216.50. But the member price drops that cost down to $198.50. If I decide to return all the items, I will pay the $25 styling fee and will be refunded the remaining amount, but I can keep any one item at the discounted price and no styling fee will be charged.
