Follain Clean Essentials Kit Review

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Info Card Front

This kit came with a small info card explaining the steps of using these items in a routine.

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Follain Go Clean Pouch Front

Follain Go Clean Pouch – Retail Value $22

And everything came packaged up in the signature canvas pouch. To be honest, the price this pouch retails for blows my mind- but maybe it will have that value to you? I consider it as more of a bonus.

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - OSEA Ocean Cleanser Front

OSEA Ocean Cleanser, 0.60 oz – Estimated Value $10.80 (buy the 1 oz version for $18)

The full-size version of this cleanser is coming in the Spring PopSugar Must Have box, so I was stoked to be trying out this mini before opening up the full-size. I also really appreciate that, even though this is a sample, it comes in the same beautiful frosted glass packaging. This cleanser is antioxidant-rich thanks to the algae extract, and it also has jojoba seed and sesame seed oil. The description said this was good for all skin types, but I found it to be a bit too much for my dehydrated skin- it didn’t leave my feeling too tight, but I prefer my cleansers to be a bit more gentle. I definitely think this cleanser will be a winner for the majority of people who try it, however.

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner Front

Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner, 0.34 oz – Estimated Value $3.40 (buy the 1 oz version for $10)

Another gorgeous frosted glass packaging! Indie Lee has been having a moment on Instagram, with almost all of the reviews being of the glowing variety- especially for this toner. The star ingredient, Coenzyme Q10, is third on the list (behind water and aloe, so I am loving this already), and it is designed to help boost collagen production and fight free radicals. This also has hyaluronic acid, chamomile, sage, and cucumber extract. Honestly, the only thing I didn’t like about this toner is that the nozzle sprayed the toner in a very targeted stream rather than a mist, so spraying it directly on my face didn’t really work. I love that this is alcohol-free and non-drying, and I can see why it is so popular.

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream Box Top Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream Box Open Top

Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream, 0.23 oz – Estimated Value $6.49 (buy the full-size version for $48)

This cream is made with meadowfoam seed oil, neroli, and calendula extract to soothe skin and provide rich hydration. As a side note, did anyone else not know that calendula and marigolds are the same flowers? I loved how nourishing this felt- it immediately sank into my skin without leaving me feeling greasy or heavy. As a bonus, the first ingredient on this cream is aloe leaf juice!

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Ursa Major 4 in 1 Essential Face Wipe Front

Ursa Major 4 in 1 Essential Face Wipe, 1 wipe - Estimated Value $1.20 (buy a bag of 20 for $24)

I think we received this wipe as a bonus! I have used these before an am always happy to have more- they are perfect for wiping your face after the gym when you want to feel refreshed and can’t immediately shower. I even took these with me in my hospital bag last year before I had surgery, and these were a godsend.

Follain Clean Essentials Kit March 2019 - Follain Refillable Soap in Lemongrass Front

Follain Refillable Soap in Lemongrass, 1 oz – Retail Value $7

If you’re like me and love the scent of lemongrass, you need this soap. It is made with coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, and aloe vera, and it is a gentle clean that leaves your skin smelling just like fresh lemongrass. Follain says this can even be used to wash dishes, but I like it has a hand soap and that’s how I will use it.

The Verdict: I really liked the assortment of clean beauty products in this bag - everything was packaged beautifully and felt luxurious to use. I definitely think, however, that you should be really wanting to try this kit or you should buy it with some other products or kits to get free shipping. Paying $32.50 total for this feels a bit steep, especially considering that a large chunk of the $50.89 value comes from the bag this kit was packaged in. The value for everything is $50.89 ($29.89 not including the bag). As I said, I liked these products and the quality of the packaging, but this kit definitely won't be for everyone.

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this kit is still available.

Value Breakdown: This kit cost $32.50 ($25 + $7.50 shipping), and I calculated a total value of $50.89. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Follain Bag: $14.05
  • OSEA: $6.90
  • Indie Lee: $2.17
  • Ursa Major Cream: $4.14
  • Ursa Major Wipe: $0.76
  • Follain Soap: $4.47

What do you think of the Follain Clean Essentials Kit? Are you going to grab one?

The products look great, but yes, they should either have a higher priced item than the bag or swap it out for something else.

They aren’t the same flower. Calendula are called pot marigolds. They are in the daisy family. Marigolds are a different flower and in the sunflower family.

A beauty kit where the bag is the most expensive item. That’s a no thanks from me, especially considering how small all the items are.

Too expensive for my blood. Way better value from other boxes and kits. Good review, totally agree with you about the bag!
