BuffBoxx February 2019 Review
BuffBoxx does not include an itemized list of the content within the box, but they do sometimes include some bonus items. This month they sent out a BuffBoxx pin.
There were two cards included this month for Alpha Dog and KBK Champions that offer subscriber discounts on the flip side.
MET - Rx Whey Protein Cookie Bites in Chocolate Peanut Butter, 1.9oz - Retail Value $2.29
MET - Rx Whey Protein Cookie Bites in Chocolate Chip, 1.9oz - Retail Value $2.29
BuffBoxx sent two flavors of these bite-sized protein cookies, chocolate peanut butter, and classic chocolate chip. Each cookie was softer than I expected, and they had a processed taste to them, more-so than a wholesome dessert or cookie taste (especially the peanut butter flavor). Each bag is a single serving with 200 calories and 12 grams of protein. That isn’t terrible for a protein snack, but I would prefer something like bone broth that has fewer calories, fat, and a comparable amount of protein.
Alpha Lion Super Human High Octane Pre Training Formula in Hulk Juice, 4.36oz - Estimated Value $13.91, Buy a 13.48oz for $43
Alpha Lion Super Human High Octane Pre Training Formula in Unicorn Juice, 4.36oz - Estimated Value $14.34, Buy a 13.07oz for $43
I was surprised when I saw BuffBoxx sent two flavors of the same pre-workout. I really like the packaging of these, and they are smaller containers than usual, which makes it easier to tote one around on the go. Hulk Juice is a sour gummy bear flavor and Unicorn Juice is a rainbow sherbet; I really liked the Hulk Juice flavor, whereas the Unicorn Juice just tasted like Crystal Lite, which I am not fond of (but is drinkable). There are four main components to this pre-workout: energy, pump, strength, and focus; this plus an anti-crash formula makes it the ultimate supplement. While taking this, I felt like I just wanted to push myself harder and add more to my workout. I even felt great after coming home and showering, which is usually when I park it on the couch for the night.
Natural Fitness Warrior Padded Training Gliding Discs - Retail Value $15.28
Yes, finally some gear! I’ve been hoping for some accessories, and BuffBoxx delivered! I’ve been so curious about these sliders from seeing them as an option in a different subscription, so I was happy to test these babies out. Since I am a noobie, I actually referred to the MSA's 3 Living Room Workout Moves post to get some ideas on how to use these, and the second move was my favorite. These discs are recommended to use on carpeted areas, and I really like the oblong shape to them. I couldn’t find this specific pair, so I linked similar ones above.
Under Armour Heatgear Armour Middy Shorts, Size Medium - Retail Value $30
This may be my favorite Under Armour pick from BuffBoxx. I love the fit of these tight yet breathable shorts. They have a 5-inch inseam, which is perfect for the gym, and the incredibly soft, high-quality fabric feels as if they will last me through hundreds of washes. The neutral grey color will match any shirt I pair them with, and the wide waistband adds control without squeezing or adding any unwanted indents in my skin. The perfect pair of gym shorts!
Verdict: I’m so glad BuffBoxx mixed it up this month! I love the idea of getting supplements every month at a discount through this subscription, but my favorite thing this month was receiving actual workout gear! The estimated retail value comes to $78.11, which is a pretty good value for a $49.99 (+ free shipping) box, especially since I can use and enjoy all of these items.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the March box. There is some customization with Buffboxx, so in a given month, someone else’s box contents might not match mine.
