Box of Happies Subscription Review + Coupon – February 2019
Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.
The plastic boxes are always protected with lots of bubble wrap.
There are three subscription options: the Monthly Grab Bag for $10 a month, the Box of Happies Mini for $17.99 a month, and the Box of Happies Full for $29.99 a month.
This is a review of the Box of Happies Full.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Box of Happies February 2019 Review
If you like jewelry that’s generally delicate and handmade items from Etsy and similar artisans, Box of Happies delivers those things every month. The items are also usually packaged nicely for gifting if something isn’t to your taste:
You’ll usually get a little card with basic information about the items as well as a Box of Happies business card.
Dora Jean Vegan Cosmetics Loose Eyeshadow – Retail Value $3.99
This is a lovely color that should work for a lot of people. It goes on well over primer and was non-irritating (I have sensitive eyes). I don’t mind the smaller container; the price is reasonable and I’ve never used up a whole (larger) loose eyeshadow anyway. The only thing is, since this didn’t have a shaker top with holes, I made a bit of a mess when trying to swatch it.
Here is a swatch of the shadow.
Thatch and Thistle Gold Heart Sticker Set – Listed Value $2.50
I found some stickers at this Etsy shop but not the exact color and size combination you see here. At any rate, it seems their smaller stickers all go for $2.50 so the information card value is reasonable. These are meant for putting on the back of envelopes (I gather) but would be useful for decorating other things, as well.
Mini Encouragement Cards (set of 5) – Listed Value $2.50
Bonus Card Holder – Listed Value $4.50
These cards are from the shop EmilyCromwell on Etsy. This particular set isn’t available, but you can get 10 of the cards for $5 here. I didn’t see the holder in the shop but it is a nice touch if you want to display these. I’m probably going to gift these as affirmations and inspirational quotes are not my thing, but I know plenty of people who would appreciate these so they will be easy to pass along.
Box of Happies Keyring – Listed Value $8
We’re getting some new locks put in tomorrow and will be needing a keyring for hanging an extra key on our rack (in case someone loses theirs). This will be perfect for that and the style will easily distinguish this from our other spare keys there for fast identification.
Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $15
I have said it before, but Box of Happies is a jewelry-heavy subscription. This is actually the only jewelry item this month. It is a simple design that would work well with something casual on the weekend, or you could follow the minimalist trend and wear this to work (I see a lot of minimalist jewelry for sale these days). This would also layer nicely with other necklaces if you want to go that route.
Chaotic Country Farm Travel Lotion in Cucumber Melon – Retail Value $3
This smells absolutely amazing, like something I would want to eat. It is good lotion, too. One thing I like about this shop is you can buy travel sizes of everything they offer for reasonable prices, which I think is a good substitute for not being able to try something out in a store.
Bonus Scrunchie Set – Listed Value $7.50
These were unbranded but they are most welcome. I have trouble keeping track of scrunchies, even though I use them every day to pull my hair back for exercise. I tried one of these for my last workout and it kept my hair in place. I can’t really ask for more than that.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $46.99 for the February 2019 Box of Happies. That’s a reasonable amount over the $29.99/month subscription price, which includes free shipping. I liked the variety of items this month and learned about quite a few new Etsy sellers and independent makers, which is always fun, plus I got to sample their items without paying separate shipping for each. The lotion is my favorite item of the month, it just smells SO GOOD. But the other items are all of nice quality and would be suitable for gifting if one of them doesn’t work for you.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box would probably be March’s. Sometimes past boxes or past box items go on sale in their shop, though.
Value Breakdown: At $29.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:
- Eyeshadow $2.55
- Stickers $1.60
- Encouragement cards $1.60
- Card holder $2.87
- Keyring $5.11
- Necklace $9.57
- Lotion $1.91
