Sephora Favorites: Crush-Worthy Skincare Kit Review

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Info Card Back Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Info Card Front

This didn’t come with a detailed info sheet, but the packaging did include the ingredients for each item.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Bag Top Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Open Bag Top Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Open Empty Bag Top

The items in this kit came in this fun peach bag! It is flexible and the inside will wipe clean with ease if anything ever spills. I also thought it could fit a decent amount, too.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet Front

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, 0.33 oz – Estimated Value $10 (buy the 0.66 oz version for $20)

I love Caudalie- their formulas are usually great, and their grape water is my favorite facial mist of all time. This moisturizer is a lightweight gel-cream that sinks easily into my skin and the second ingredient on the list is my beloved grape water!

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Fresh Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment Open Front

Fresh Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment in Dream, 0.07 oz – Estimated Value $12.13 (buy the full-size version for $26)

This is such a great lip balm! Its made with sugar (to prevent moisture loss), sea fennel (to smooth fine lines), and orange extract (to protect your lips). This does provide long-lasting moisture to my chronically dry lips, and I like the light wash of pink this tinted version provides.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Watermelon Gel Mask Front

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer, 0.30 oz – Estimated Value $7.41 (buy the 0.85 oz version for $21)

I love this line- the watermelon gel mask is one of my favorite sheet masks of all time, and I am on my second full-size jar of the sleeping mask. This moisturizer is a great way to get my watermelon fix whenever I want to feel fresh. It has a light watermelon scent that I personally find amazing, and it is very lightweight. I do think this line is geared more towards oily skin, so if you have dry skin you’re probably going to want to layer this with something heavier.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Hum Nutrition Glow Front Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Hum Nutrition Glow Back Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Hum Nutrition Glow Contents View

Hum Nutrition Glow Sweet Glow, 6 gummies – Estimated Value $2.50 (buy the full-size version for $25)

These vegan gummies are made with hyaluronic acid and Vitamins A and C to help your skin glow. A three day supply isn’t enough to determine if this is going to help me look lit from within (I believe you would need to take these for 4-6 weeks to really see results, if any), but they are enough to confirm they taste good- they taste like orange!

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser Front

Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $4.05 (buy the full-size version for $34)

This cleanser is incredibly gentle- when I have hormonal acne breakouts I have to make sure I don’t use aggressive cleansers or it will irritate my skin further, and this fits the bill perfectly for cleansing without irritating.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Lancome Rose Sugar Scrub Front

Lancome Rose Sugar Scrub, 1.6 oz – Estimated Value $11.98 (buy the full-size version for $25)

I honestly have no idea if this scrub is a body scrub or a face scrub, but I chose to use it on my arms and hands. The sugar exfoliation is gentle but effective, and it left my skin softly scented with sweet rose. I’m a fan!

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Front

Saturday Skin Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel, 0.33 oz – Estimated Value $3.65 (buy the full-size version for $28)

Saturday Skin is definitely one of the trendy brands of the moment (I suspect the millennial pink packaging plays a big role), so including this peeling gel in the kit was smart on Sephora's part. Honestly, peeling gels aren't my preferred way to exfoliate- I believe a part of it is all gimmick, though it may provide mild exfoliation. This was gentle on my skin and it did feel a bit softer after using, but I didn't experience a brightening effect.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Rose Face Mask Front  Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Rose Face Mask Back

Sephora Collection Rose Face Mask – Retail Value $6

This a pretty good sheet mask made with rose extract to hydrate and brighten, but I definitely think you can find just as effective (or better) sheet masks for a lower price. This also has fragrance near the top of the ingredients list, which is what most likely provides the light rose scent.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Front

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist, 1.01 oz – Estimated Value $6.33 (buy the 3.04 oz version for $19)

The Bum Bum cream from Sol De Janeiro is a cult classic thanks to its pistachio and salted caramel scent, and this body spray is the same bum bum scent that you can spray all over. I actually adore this body spray, and I love to spray it on after a shower before I get dressed so my entire body can smell great without being overpowering. On days my hair is up and I’m in yoga pants I don’t reach for my higher end perfumes, and this spray is perfect for being low maintenance and still smelling great.

Sephora Favorites Skincare February 2019 - Volition Beauty Serum Front

Volition Beauty Snow Mushroom Water Serum, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $10.54 (buy the 1 oz version for $62)

My skin really loves mushroom as an ingredient, so I was happy to try this serum. I don’t have much experience with Volition Beauty, but this serum impressed me—the first ingredient on the list is mushroom extract, rather than water! This was hydrating and helped my skin to look supple and nourished. I would definitely consider grabbing this in the full-size.

The Verdict: As soon as Sephora released this kit I knew I had to have it – the mini SDJ body spray is one of the cutest things I have ever seen, and almost all of these products were new discoveries for me. I also definitely like the makeup bag this kit came in, too! Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $74.39, which I think is fair.

The last time I was at Macys, the Lancome salesperson tried to sell me the rose scrub. While she said it could be used anywhere, it is meant for the face. She gave me a small sample tube. I tried it once, but it gets warm immediately. I did not like that. I now use it on my lips. Seems to do well with that task. The dealbreaker in this kit was the SDJ body spray. My entire house went crazy, not in a good way, when I used the Bum Bum cream. They all ordered me to go and shower it off. I obliged since the fragrance was giving me a headache.

I hate the bum bum cream’s scent too. It made me feel physically sick, and I’m not particularly sensitive to scent. It couldn’t get rid of it fast enough, it was absolutely nauseating.

Me three and like Dawn it give me a headache, it’s hard to get it out of my nose once I smell it.

A simple Google search finds that the Lancome scrub is for the face. It wasn’t really that hard.

Great review. Now you’ve got me thinking about ordering one. These items are all new to me except the lip balm, which I do like.

What shade of eyeliner is the cat wearing?

Lynn

That cat looks exactly like my cat, Marshmallow. My son named her that because he said she looks like a toasted marshmallow.

I like that this kit seems to have a loose theme. (Even though I don’t like rose products, lol.) I’d rather pay for a curation of specific products rather than what seems to be Sephora’s usual method of “whatever deluxe samples we can get our hands on.”

I am always doubtful about seeing any benefts from skincare products that are ingested. But those Glow gummies got RAVE reviews on Sephora about how much better their skin looked, even in as short as a week’s time. I gave it a whole month and unfortunately didn’t see any improvement/results whatsoever.
They do taste pretty yummy though! 😄

Evening Primrose is the only product I’ve ingested that has really helped my skin.

I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think Lancome makes any products for the body. I used to be a big fan of theirs and can’t recall ever seeing anything but face/neck/chest formulas.
But just to be sure I looked this scrub up on Sephora and can confirm this is in fact made to use on your face. You probably got a better understanding of how gentle or harsh it is by using it elsewhere, so if you think it will be gentle enough on your face you should try it! It has several great reviews on Sephora.

Lancôme makes shower gel and body lotion- I have it in La Vie Est Belle and I love it so much. By far my favorite body products especially when paired with the perfume.

Hi Jessica! Great review as usual. 🙂 Just wanted to share that the Lancome item is a face scrub!

Ooh. Interesting. I think it’s too heavily rose scented to be used as a face scrub 🤔

Luna

Well hopefully it made for a nice body scrub! 😀
