Le Noir Bazaar – The Dark Market January 2019 Review
As always, there was a card included that detailed both the items inside as well as their listed value. This moody chandelier feels perfect for the dark days of winter. Let’s see if the items inside are helpful for this super-chilly time of year, eh?
Black Wool Winter Cap - Listed Value $30
The first item is so perfect for winter! This hat is so well-constructed and made of a nice thick wool. It reminds me so strongly of “Blossom” hats from when I was a kid - the ‘90’s throwback made me smile! The black color matches most of my coats, which I’m sure surprises no one, and the fit is nice and snug over my hair, which means it won’t fly off if a gust of wind picks up!
Witching Hour Mug by Lisa Parker - Listed Value $14
Fun fact about me: I love mugs. They’re usually my go-to souvenir for when I travel, and I have a ton of pop culture ones that I’ve collected over the years. However, I have nothing like this one, and I adore the illustration! My own cat sleeps on top of my books sometimes, just like this sweet black feline, and the adjacent lit candle sets such a mood! This is a little bit of a different shape as far as mugs go, and I really like it. It’s a bit rounded at the top and tapered at the bottom, which feels really nice in my hands while I’m holding it.
Prosperity Tea - Listed Value $5
Hand-crafted tea blends are the best! I love this prosperity blend; many of the ingredients are thought to increase wealth and abundance. The kick of caffeine from the black tea is appreciated, and the rose hips, clover, and meadowsweet add an herbal earthiness, while the sage adds a nice depth and complexity to this ‘cuppa!
Black Cat Necklace with Garnet Drop Accent - Listed Value $18
This necklace matches the theme of the box so well - it’s also a black cat! I like the long length of this necklace, it hangs a little lower and offers more options for styling. The cat illustration is nicely rendered, and the garnet drop adds just a tiny bit of color to the look. This piece isn’t as much my style as other jewelry items I’ve received in the past, but I can appreciate the craftsmanship at hand here - the piece is well-made!
Black Cat Soy Votive Candle - Listed Value $9
Soy candles burn so much more nicely to me than regular ones! This cute little votive is my favorite color, of course, and is a nice size to enjoy for quite a few hours before getting sick of it. The scent is absolutely perfect for winter; it has a beautiful clove scent that’s rich without being overpowering. I have this perched on my desk at the moment and I love taking little timeouts throughout the day to smell it.
Purple Moon Bath Bomb - Listed Value $5
I take a ton of baths in the winter - some days, it’s the only way I can get warm! I enjoy all kinds of bath bombs, and this slightly fruity, slightly floral bomb is so comforting while also reminding me that spring is on the way. It’s the perfect size for my tub - it offered a nice amount of foam without overwhelming the entire tub.
Verdict: I feel like this box was custom-made for me! The theme of coziness and black cats was really well-executed, and I loved how the items related to each other, like the tea and mug in the same box. Bath bombs, candles, and tea are some of my most favorite things, and the hat was such a nice surprise to get me through this cold weather. I always look forward to this box, and for me, this month really delivered!
