kidpik Spring 2019 Review

When you sign up, they ask you a few questions related to your child's size and style preferences.

I like that kidpik is very specific in some of their options such as "please do not include jeans" so that you can really tailor it to your girl's clothing needs or preferences. I also love that they ask how sparkly your girl is. Mine is pretty sparkly these days!

When you check out, you have the option to return, exchange or donate the items for free using the postage-paid envelope they provided. For donations, they partner with Good + Foundation to donate clothing to girls in need!

Included in the box was a pamphlet with a little thank you note on the front and their social media info on the back. They tend to post a lot on social media, so if you ever want to see the types of outfits they send out, I suggest following them! They also provided information in the booklet on how the process works, which is helpful.

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the color, size, and price of each item. Our total came to $145.50 for all 7 items, but with the 30% discount for keeping all items, the total comes to $101.85. That’s a savings of $43.65 on these items if we choose to keep everything.

One unique thing about kidpik is that they always include a little free gift for your girl. You get to keep this whether you keep any of the clothes or not. It comes in its own little bag and this month we received these two stretchy bracelets, which we have also been using as hair ties since they are super stretchy. Fun and cute!

I appreciate that kidpik sends shoes in their own little bag. These are great to keep for when you are traveling and need to bring a spare pair but want to keep your packed clothes clean!

Crossed Metallic Ankle Sandal, Size Youth 13 - Cost to Keep $27.50 ($19.25 with discount)

These sandals are definitely Liv's style and they are comfortable enough for her to wear to run around in, but also look cute enough to dress up an outfit. I love that they zip up in the back making them easy for her to put on and take off. She loves them and has been wearing them everywhere. Since it's still cold here, she even rocked the socks with sandals look last night. *cringe*

I sized her up to a size 13 and she's got a little bit of room left in them, but the way this girls' feet grow, I'm really hoping they last her through the summer! I love that they are such a neutral color because I think she will be able to get a lot of use out of them.

Aviator Sunglasses, one size - Cost to Keep $7.50 ($5.25 with discount)

I never would have thought about getting her aviators, but these sunglasses are the cutest! She loves them because they have a pink lens and I would have thought she would complain about the nose pads, but she was happy to wear these and seemed to be comfortable wearing them.

Geo Tiered Maxi Dress, size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $34.50 ($24.15 with discount)

This is absolutely Liv's favorite item in the box, and it is a close second for me out of all the items. This maxi dress is so sweet with its geometric batik-style pattern and super soft fabric. I love the tiered skirt on this and it is just a smidge big on her, but I have no doubt it will fit her perfectly when the warm weather is here to stay.

Here is a closeup of the front tie and the braided straps. You can also see she has her free gift bracelet/hair tie in her hair.

Santa Fe Jean Jacket, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $20.65 ($29.50 with discount)

Now, this is my favorite item that she received! How cute is this denim jacket? I love the dark wash and I think it is so fun paired with the maxi dress. It seems to be really well made and is a heavier denim so it will actually provide a little bit of warmth too. I'm just excited that she likes it because it's just so cute!

It's a little big on her, but we solved that problem by just rolling up the sleeves a little bit.

Here is a closeup of the wash and the brass kidpik buttons.

Floral Mock Tn Top, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $15.50 ($10.85 with discount)

This tank top is a bit dressier than Liv's usual clothes, but I love the beautiful bright floral pattern and how soft it is. You can see the fabric has a slight pucker to it which really makes it feel like a nicer quality top. I was actually surprised to see the cost so low for a nice tank top that zips up in the back! (pictured below)

Floral Drop Yoke Skirt, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $15.50 ($10.85 with discount)

The tank top also came with a matching skirt! I love the drop yoke style that starts out flat at the top and connects to this flared ruffle skirt. It is such a darling style for this bright floral pattern. Unfortunately, it looks like there was a little spot on the seam where the bottom skirt connects to the top that the sewing machine missed which created a small hole. You can barely tell and I think it is still nicely made, but simply a result of the fabric slipping during the sewing process. We reached out to customer service and they assured us that they would send out a new one if this happened to a subscriber.

Here they are together. They are slightly big on her because she is probably a true size 7, but I never mind bigger sizes because she really does grow so fast.

Tie Front Blouse, Size S (7/8) - Cost to Keep $15.50 (10.85 with discount)

I love that this blouse can be paired with the skirt that we received since it matches the blue, but I think this will be so adorable with some white shorts in the summer! I love the nice gauzy material and the tie detail in the front. The billowy sleeves are also a fun detail that dress this shirt up just a bit. Again, it is a bit big on her, but I think it will fit her in no time. This is another one that I was surprised at the lower price point since I would consider this a dressier/nicer top!

Here are some close-ups of the fabric and that tie detail.

The Verdict: This was another great kidpik box for us. I can't say that I would have ever picked out the skirt or the two tops, but that's what is so fun about this subscription. You get some new styles that you wouldn't normally try that end up being really cute! My favorite is obviously the jean jacket and my daughter loves the dress, shoes, and sunglasses. This box definitely had a great spring vibe and we were lucky to receive it on a day when the weather was as close to spring as we can get right now! I really thought the prices were reasonable for most items and especially think it was a good deal when you take into account the 30% discount. I think that the quality is definitely there, even despite the little hole in the skirt. I always love that they send items to create an entire outfit which is really fun and that they make it easy to donate items if you choose to. Even better, they will match any donation you make, which is great! As for the cost of the box, I think that $101.85 is fair for 7 items that included shoes and a jacket. That means the average cost of these came to $14.55 which is slightly higher than their listed average of $13.50 per piece.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? kidpik curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what season it is. You might get something that fits your girl’s style even better than the items that we received.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $0 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $145.50. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if we keep all 7 items, then we get a 30% discount. This would bring the price down to $101.85 for the 7 items, which is an average of $14.55 per item.

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

The fit of that skirt looks really odd. Is the flat part really supposed to be around her hips? Looks like it should be pulled up more. Everything else looks cute. We got a few kidpik boxes last year, and one of our favorite pieces is still the denim jacket.

Hi Amber, the skirt is a little big on her, so it is definitely hanging down a bit lower than it should! 🙂

ah ok, that makes sense. Thanks!
