Bulu Box Weight Loss February 2019 Review
There are box variations, and sometimes rather heavy product promotion, so you may not always get the same box as someone else or be able to make the connection to weight loss for each product:
The information cards are now generic rather than describing your items.
There was also some product literature. Sometimes this relates to items in the box and sometimes it does not.
Florastor Plus Immune Support Supplement (30 vegetable capsules) – Retail Value $26.16
This is out of stock everywhere but I’ve linked to a site where you can sign up to be alerted when it comes back into stock. This is slightly different from the Florastor supplements we’ve received in past months. This also has yeast as the main ingredient but also includes zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin D3. Two things I like here are: (1) this does not require refrigeration, and (2) the capsules are vegetarian. I can’t say as of yet what this is doing for me because probiotics can take weeks or months to show an effect, but at least they give you a lot to try.
This product was also in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.
Plantfusion Phood 100% Whole Meal Shake in Vanilla (1.59 oz) – Buy 16.5 oz for $37.35
This is vegan so I was happy to try it (it is actually free of most of the major allergens as well as artificial flavors and colors). I don’t care to drink protein powders, especially vegan ones, just mixed with liquid, but I was happy to put some of this in my morning smoothie and I think the flavor combination worked well. I’d suggest mixing with a stick blender if you have one available for the best texture. This also has some greens.
This product in a different flavor was also in the original version of Bulu Box this month.
Cover Three Nutritional Brain Defense (30 mL) – Buy 6 Shots for $39.99
I notice that the sample package I got says “take CTE head on” and (1) this is a terrible pun considering what head injuries can do to athletes but (2) more importantly, I notice that language is not on the current advertised packaging, and I am wondering if someone got into trouble over that (it is not currently available on Amazon). When I started looking into the link between omega-3 fatty acids and brain injury, most of the websites are just not reputable, although it does appear that some studies are going on, and that’s a good thing. As you can see, this contains fish oil, so it is not vegetarian. Fish oil capsules can be quite large so if you prefer not to swallow large capsules, or if you have trouble swallowing them, this could be a way to take fish oil (albeit an expensive one! there are probably cheaper alternatives out there). You might want to take fish oil (or a vegan equivalent) if you have dry skin and hair or if you are looking to improve your cholesterol numbers.
Smith Bros. Wild Cherry Throat Drops (30 count) – Buy 3 Bags for $10
Bulu Box has been sending me quite a few different cough drops and throat drops. I haven’t been sick since last year so I am hanging on to them because I did get bronchitis like last May or June. These are more candy-like than some of the others I’ve gotten and don’t contain menthol, so they may work for you if you are sensitive to menthol. (They have calories due to sugar, for what it’s worth.)
Over EZ Dietary Supplement (1 capsule) – Buy 6 Pills for $19.99
This is supposed to help with hangovers. I don’t drink alcohol so this is not a problem I have. This has some ingredients that show up in a lot of other “liver support” and “detox” supplements (detox is not a real thing, it’s just a wellness buzzword) like milk thistle, which you should avoid if you are allergic to ragweed (I am) because of a potential cross-reaction. It is entirely unclear what the capsule is made out of because the ingredients lists I’ve found don’t tell you. I will pass this along to someone who does drink and who is not allergic to ragweed.
Neocell Collagen Protein Peptides (unflavored, 0.71 oz) – Buy 14.3 oz for $29.96
Collagen, taken internally, can help with the condition of skin and hair. (You’ll see it for external application in a variety of beauty products, where the effectiveness is probably not so great.) This is unflavored and I have heard of people adding it to coffee. Collagen can *only* come from animal sources (cartilage and such; much of it used in industry is a byproduct of poultry processing, although this says “grass fed” so it’s probably from cattle in this instance) so this is not vegetarian. I have passed it along to a coworker who is interested in such things.
Verdict: There were 6 samples this month. If you paid full price for this subscription, you paid about $1.67 for each item. I was happy to get more of the Florastor Plus because that came in both the regular and weight loss Bulu Boxes this month so there is like two months’ worth between the two boxes. While not every item worked for me, I would say this was a pretty typical box composition and some months are better than others (at least the most expensive item was vegetarian, and that more than makes up the cost of the box).
I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, March would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.
Value Breakdown: The March box has six samples, so subscribers at full price are paying about $1.67 per sample.
Keep Track of Your Subscriptions: Add this box to your subscription list or wishlist!
