Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping as well as free returns. If you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Stitch Fix Plus Size Clothing Box January 2019 Review

This is the invoice that was included. It shows in detail the items selected for me and the brands, sizes, and cost of each piece. The total comes up to $295.75 after all the discounts if I opt to keep everything—which is a $135.25 total savings! That is like getting the SPANX leggings for free or $5 short of getting the Michael Kors dress for free!

As always, this handy sheet with a sweet note from my stylist, Candace, was included. I always appreciate the styling tips: they are so useful and inspiring! Candace consistently references my Pinterest for inspiration on pieces to select for me. She made a point of picking out pieces to shine in and also keep cozy in as well!

Vallery Side Slit Dress by MICHAEL Michael Kors Size 2x—Retail Value $140
Holy smokes, is this not a stunner? I love the simplicity and fierceness this dress exudes. This could be a standard jersey material black dress, but then you have the asymmetrical style and slit on the dress that make it a show stopper! Let’s not forget those gold pyramid style spikes as well! This piece takes me back to studding everything I owned with pyramid spikes in high school and college, but this look is definitely far more polished than any of my creations. The dress is well made and fits like an absolute dream. I styled it with gold go-go booties to perfectly enhance the studding on this piece! This is something I would wear to a show or a hot date with my boyfriend!

Jalila Moto Detail Legging by SPANX Size 2x—Retail Value $110
Wanna talk about foxy? Here we have some SPANX leggings that make Sandy in Grease’s spandex disco style leggings seem tame! These pants truly fit like a glove—they may have been a smidge too snug on me. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the SPANX brand, though. They really encase you and make your body look unreal! In retrospect, I am curious if a 3x would have been a better fit. I also love the moto pant trend details on the pants, they add an edgy touch. I truly felt like some glamorous superhero wearing these leggings---I was feeling myself! Fierce with a capital F!

Devon Statement Necklace by Bay to Baubles—Retail Value $44
Candace sent me some killer pieces and this necklace is no exception! I always have been drawn to all that sparkles and glitters and this necklace does both. You may see a costume piece like this and assume you can only wear it with dressier pieces, but that is a misconception. I love a bold statement piece like this paired with a casual ensemble to spice it up. The necklace itself has a thicker burnt gold chain with faux rhinestone accents.

Bickley Shawl Cardigan by RD Style Size 2x—Retail Value $58
Finally, my stylist, Candace, sent me this cozy cardigan by RD Style. I love a thick knit, roomy cardigan in the colder months! I live in them this time of year at my office because it is perpetually cold! This cardigan has a burgundy and navy color scheme that looks amazing paired with the floral print dress I got from LOFT’s new plus-size line. You can wear this cozy piece as well with a white t-shirt, jeans, and loafers for a casual Sunday brunch ensemble or with a shirt dress, tights, and booties at the office! Either way, you will be staying warm in style!
The Verdict: This month had some killer pieces! My favorites were the Michael Kors dress and the SPANX leggings, but sadly they were a tad out of my price range and I had to pass them up! I love that my stylist, Candace, consistently checks out my Pinterest and social media for inspiration on what to send me. I also love the Stitch Fix app! It is free and has an option where you can thumb up or down items to further let your stylist know what appeals to you and what does not. I really enjoyed the mix of casual and glamorous pieces this month and am eager to see what I get next month!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: This box has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $421. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $295.75 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s roughly a 30% discount!
