Shore Scents January 2019 Box Review

Shore Scents January 2019 - Info Card

Here is the info sheet for the box. This month our bonus item was a $15 credit to the Shore Scents website with no minimum purchase requirement! You do have to cover shipping separately, but other than that you can get the candles free and clear. I ended up choosing two four-ounce candles which totaled $14. The discount code took care of the candle cost completely, and then I had a $7 shipping charge. I noticed as I was playing around that the shipping cost varied depending on the number of candles in your cart. Shipping is also super quick- my order arrived two days after placing it, which means shipping was quicker than my ability to do this review!

Shore Scents January 2019 - Deep Creek Lavender Candle FrontShore Scents January 2019 - Deep Creek Lavender Candle Open Top

Deep Creek Lavender Candle, 8 oz – Retail Value $12

This is a lovely lavender scented candle with notes of cedar and bergamot. I found the scent to be really natural- if I closed my eyes I could have been smelling a fresh sprig of lavender! The scent was light and delicate, and my favorite way to use it is to burn it on the table next to my bed in the evening. The scent doesn’t fill my entire bedroom, but it lightly fragrances the area near my bed. The candle is made with 100% soy wax that was grown in the US and has a 40 hour burn time.

Shore Scents January 2019 - Eucalyptus Mint Candle FrontShore Scents January 2019 - Eucalyptus Mint Candle Open Top

Eucalyptus Mint Candle, 8 oz – Estimated Value $12 (currently out of stock)

The Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus Mint candle is one of my favorite candle scents of all time, and this smells just like that—only better. It has notes of cedarwood, clove, and vanilla to balance the eucalyptus mint, and the scent is absolutely intoxicating. It can fill my entire living room with a light fragrance, and the fragrance is stronger in a smaller room. The braided cotton wick burns clean, and I have been burning this every chance I’ve gotten.

The Verdict: I think this was my favorite month ever from Shore Scents! I love the scents so much that I chose to use my $15 gift card to buy the 4 oz versions of these exact scents (though I was tempted by the grapefruit mint candle). The candle packaging also got a mini makeover, and I adore the new inspirational quotes that are featured on the glass. I really can’t think of anything bad about this subscription, and if you enjoy high-quality small brand candles, I think you will be really happy with this subscription.

  1. Just got my first box! Love these candles! I used my certificate and got 2 more candles with shipping for $12! Not bad at all!

  2. I would be annoyed with the gift card as a bonus, and I don’t really know that I agree it should be counted as part of the value.

If you have to pay for shipping or pay to use the certificate, it’s not a bonus. If it was included in the next box shipment then that would be fine, but otherwise you’re paying $7 for more candles.

  3. These aren’t soy candles? I also agree with Amber… The breakdown doesn’t seem right. If they were soy, I’d be happy to pay, but that seems very expensive.

    • The lids say ‘soy wax and cotton wick’

    • I totally agree on the price breakdown.

According to their site the candles are soy they have a good breakdown that I’m surprised the copy and paste wasn’t added here.

      Note Profile:
      Top: Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Cinnamon
      Middle: Cedarwood, Clove
      Base: Patchouli, Vanilla, Clean Musk

      Additional Info:
100% soy wax that is grown in the USA
Soy wax is eco-friendly and renewable
Burn time: 20 to 40 hours
4 oz or 8 oz jar
Cotton wick braided with thin paper threads
Cleaner burning means no toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants

  4. I think your value breakdown is incorrect.

    • Hi Amber!
You’re paying $10 per candle and $10 for the gift certificate.

      • Ah, so the “special thank you” that’s included in each box isn’t a bonus or special, but part of the cost of the sub and its value? (as in, it would be something included every month)

        • Each month they include a bonus item, and I have included that in the value of each month’s box. Usually it is a third candle but that isn’t always the case, as evidenced this month
