Shades Club January 2019 Review

There’s an info card that announces their new collection for 2019.

Then there’s a lighter weight box inside the one they’re shipped in.

Your sunglasses come in a branded cloth pouch that doubles as a lens cloth with drawstring closure.

Shades Club Snowbird Matte White/Blue Sunglasses – Retail Value $95.00

Here are the January Shades: the Snowbird in matte white. I luuuurve wayfarers, the color white, and a matte finish so these are the perfect sunnies to kick off my subscription. Blue is another fave color, so I’m enchanted by the mirrored blue lenses.

While I was expecting a little heavier weight for sunglasses that retail close to $100, maybe the fact that they’re lightweight is a plus. They stay put but don’t fatigue my nose or ears by being too heavy or tight.

On the upper left corner and outer side of the arms, you’ll see the name branded in gold, with a gold accent where the arm meets the lenses.

Boop- there’s even a little branding inside the hinge of the arm.

On the inside of the right arm is the positive statement “I’m fly in any weather”.

On the end of the right arm, you’ll see a gold emblem with “Designed in the sunshine state. Polarized.” typed out.

On the left arm, it gives the model name, Snowbird, as well as the color (Matte White).

Here they are on! What do y’all think? They’re a leeeeetle bit big on my small head, but I think I still wear them quite well. When you sign up for a subscription, they ask for your gender although it seems that everyone gets the same pair, so I’m not sure why they ask. By having a gender preference, I would expect different styles or sizes. These look pretty cool regardless.

Shades Club Travel Case – Listed Retail Value $40.00

In addition to the sunglasses, your first delivery will contain Shades Club’s “legendary travel fold-up case” that comes flat.

Open up the magnetic flap on the white leather-like hard case to read “Life is better in Shades” on the inside.

Just pop the sides out to fully extend your fancy new triangular case. I like the way this looks and it’s great that it folds flat so it won’t take up too much space in my bag while I’m wearing my sunglasses.

Here are the sunglasses inside. The case overall is pretty cool and I like the design, but $40 value they put on them seems a bit steep.

Verdict: So far I like the style of  Shades Club sunglasses I received. I worry that I may get a pair I won’t like, but they offer returns and exchanges, so it shouldn’t be a problem. I wish the subscription was a little cheaper, but if you pre-pay for a year, the price drops to $25/month which is a really good price for a new pair of sunglasses every month that has a lifetime guarantee.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? From Shades Club:

We aim to ship your 1st shipment within the 1st few days of when you order. All subsequent shipments for months 2 and beyond will ship during the first week of each month.

COUPON: Use code SAVE15 to save $15 off your order!

Value Breakdown: At $45.00 for this pair of sunglasses (including free shipping), I saved $50.00 by subscribing instead of paying retail.

  1. Who can use that many sunglasses? Maybe a quarterly sub would be better?

  2. Hey I was wondering if I subscribe to a monthly plan is it automatically renewing itself because I can’t seem to find a way to unsuscribe?

  3. Is there a uv protection value given for their brand of glasses?

  4. Love those glasses on you!

  5. I love those glasses on you. You totally rock those.

    • Agree! You look great, Marne!

  6. Wow that does seem pricey. I like the annual price point at $25 a month, but do not want to commit to 12 pairs of sunglasses a year. Bummer, perhaps they will lower their pricing.
