Quirky Crate December 2018 Box Review
Hooray! It’s Quirky Crate time! Each box includes a card with a product list and some details on an artist featured in the box.
Roll With It Enamel Roller Skate Pin – Listed Value $10.00
Eeeek! I’m so excited about this cute pin! I recently started doing roller derby, so I’m instantly smitten with everything and anything roller skates. I love the rainbow hues of the design and the crisp, clean quality. There are two posts on the back rather than one, so it’ll hold super securely on my jacket (or my derby gear bag).
You’re a Peach Crossbody Bag – Listed Value $27.00
Okay, so this peach-emoji-inspired bag is super quirky and awesome. However! I’ve gotta say that the quality doesn’t feel like it hits the $27.00 mark for me. It’s faux leather, a little stiff, and most importantly, unlike the emoji, this bag hangs so that the peach is upside down.
It’s big enough for a large phone, keys, and a few makeup must-haves. It definitely makes an impression, I just wish it could be worn upright! The zipper is along the bottom, and when you wear it, it tends to always flip itself into this upside down position.
SJ Canvas Screen Printed Pouch – Listed Value $16.00
I wasn’t able to find this design online anywhere, but I think it’s awfully cute! This is the first item from featured artist Sam Jayne. The star pattern is really cute, and the message is upbeat and sweet. The chubby star-shaped charm and tassel on the zipper adds a playful accent, too. The bag is perfect for pens and pencils, makeup and brushes, greeting cards and stationery, crystals, or any other odds and ends that deserve a cute home.
SJ Designs Love Yourself Mug – Listed Value $14.00
It’s great that there are two items from Sam Jayne in this box! This little mug is a cheerful addition to my desk each morning. I like the contrast between the hot pink, black, and red elements of this design. It’s obviously great for tea or coffee, but I’m probably going to use it as a pen cup so I can see it more often!
Striped Headband – Listed Value $6.00
This headband is simple but sweet. I like that it’s a blend of wired headbands and traditional U-shaped styles. Wired headbands that wrap around your head don’t ever stay put on my head, but I do love the cute way the ties can be posed in one way or another.
Moose Socks – Listed Value $9.00
Do these socks fit the theme of the rest of the box? Well, no not really. But wow are they ever cute! I love moose, and I love them, even more, when they appear in such fun colors. They’re not too thick, not too thin, and hug my feet comfortably. I love how my sock collection has grown thanks to this subscription.
Set of 2 Girl Power Notebooks – Listed Value $5.00
I love getting a new notebook. So to get two? Whoopee! These pocket-sized notebooks have the added benefit of perky colors and fun, bold designs. The lined pages are great for grocery lists and other to-dos. I like keeping a notebook in my tote bag or purse pocket, just so I always have something I can scribble notes in, so these notebooks are exciting surprises for me.
Party Confetti – Listed Value $4.00
These quarter-sized circles of crepe paper just LOOK cheerful, don’t they? While tossing confetti is traditional, I think I’ll use this to spread across the center of a table to add some fun and color to my next get-together.
The Verdict: I really like that Quirky Crate is finding ways to feature more artist-created products in each box! They’re always my favorite part. I also love the rainbow of colors in both the items and the box itself. While the quality of some of the items isn’t the highest, I feel like the wow factor is definitely there. Opening up this box each month always puts a smile on my face!
