My Fashion Crate January 2019 Review

They always include an insert with descriptions of the items and their value. The front side lists everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box and they include pictures which I always appreciate.

New Year New You "Live Your Dream Top", Size L - Listed Value $35

This month the items felt a bit more casual to me, which I loved! After the busy holidays, it was nice to receive a comfy t-shirt to lounge around in. I'm not one to wear shirts with phrases on them usually, but this one is subtle enough and I definitely think it will be a great shirt to throw on for hanging out at home in. It is soft and comfortable and I love the heathered light gray color that has just a tint of blue and purple in it.

Cute Favorite Socks - Listed Value $15

These socks are another cute and cozy item perfect for January. I like the gray color and that the little embroidered kitty is smaller and only on one side of the socks. It makes them simple enough to wear every day with any outfit. The knit is a decent thickness and they are a good quality sock, but I still don't think they are quite worth the $15 list price for one pair of socks.

Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand in Chocolate - Retail Value $18

I really never use brow wands, but this one might just make me change my mind! This chocolate-colored pencil actually feels more like a crayon to me and it went onto my brows so lightly and easily that I didn't feel like I was going to overdo it. The triangular shape of the pencil was perfect for filling in brows and it needs no sharpening, but just a quick wind up to get more product.

Here it is swatched, you can see that it has just a slight tint, which is perfect for someone like me who doesn't want a dramatic look, but it is definitely buildable as well if you do want to go darker.

I didn't even realize this at first, but the opposite end features a built-in wand to help tame your brows, too. This is one of those great tools that would be perfect to throw into your purse or a travel bag for moments when your brows need a little touch-up or taming! I'm also really impressed with the fact that this has 4.9 stars out of 230 reviews on their site.

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish in Vintage on Vine - Retail Value $18

This nail polish color is perfect for winter with its nice grayish purple. They describe it as a dusky purple and vintage taupe and I think that those are perfect descriptions! This nail polish is a 7-free formula as well as cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, all of which made me feel better about using it on my daughter who acted as my nail polish model.

I was really impressed with how nicely this formula applied! Here I have just one coat on her nails and you can see that the coverage is great with just enough shine to it.

Busy Beauty Showerless Shampoo - Retail Value $10

This dry shampoo went on completely clear which I thought was great and it had a nice clean, powdery scent. The bottle is fairly slim, so I think this is a great one to add to your gym bag for freshening up on the go. I think the packaging is so cute, too! It definitely gives me Roy Lichtenstein/ Pop art vibes with the girl and the fun polka dot lid.

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Ivory Striped Cardigan, Size L - Listed Value $50

This cardigan is probably my favorite clothing item that they have sent so far! It is super cute, totally my style and I think it is a great addition to a January box. The fabric is not super thick, but it is just enough to add a little warmth to a t-shirt or cami like I have on here. It's very comfortable and cozy and the ivory color with the faded gray stripes means it can really pair with almost any color. While I do think it is very nice and the quality is good, I think the price is a bit inflated at $50 for this piece.

Here's a little close up of the soft elbow patch which I think is totally on trend and adds a cute detail to this cardigan!

T-Shirt and Jeans Maria Crossbody Wristlet in Mauve- Retail Value $48 (found on sale here for $19.98)

This handbag is another great casual item featuring a perfect for winter color. I love the brass hardware on this with the mauve toned fabric, which is vegan, by the way. This features both a long shoulder strap as well as a loop to use this as a wristlet.

It has several pockets for such a small bag including an open pocket on the front and a smaller zipper pocket on the front (both of which are too small to fit my Iphone 7 plus) and then the larger zipper opens up to reveal two sections separated by a piece of fabric and a small interior zipper pocket. These are all great for organizational purposes!

Here is it on so you can get a sense of scale. I was in need of a new small crossbody and I love lots of pockets, so I was incredibly happy to receive this and I've already filled it up with all of the necessities.

Verdict: My Fashion Crate is a subscription that continues to surprise me each month and keeps me looking forward to what items they will send! This month was definitely more of a casual vibe as far as the accessories and clothing items and I thought that winter is the perfect time of year to do that. While I think a few pieces were a bit inflated in price, you are still paying an average of $7.84 for each of the 7 items at $54.90 for this box, which is great! I will definitely be using all of these items and I'm happy with the somewhat neutral-toned colors that they included this month.

The total for the Premium box comes to $194 this month, which is an awesome value for a $54.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $96 which is still great for a $39.95 ($35 + $4.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received the ivory striped cardigan and the mauve crossbody valued at $98.
