Ivory Clasp is a monthly women’s accessories subscription that’s all about clutches, totes, backpacks, and all things purses! You can choose to get a new bag every month or every 3 months.

When you sign up, you’ll fill out the Ivory Clasp questionnaire, letting their stylists know what patterns, colors, materials, and shapes you prefer in the bags you buy. In addition to answering questions, you’ll go through several screens of “select the bags you’d be happy to get” to provide even more specific information about what you’d like to receive.

When your curation is ready, they will send you an e-mail giving you a few days to select the specific bag that you wish to receive. If you do not select a bag, their stylists will select one for you and you’ll get to be surprised.

Ivory Clasp Handbag Subscription for December 2018

This month, I selected a bag that included a clutch. Two for one! Let’s see how it looks!

purse front

Aolisi Laser Cut Black Tote with Clutch– Retail Value $32

*I couldn’t find this color online, but I found the Gray Beige version of this on Amazon which is what I used for retail value.

Tote Dimensions: 18″ L x  6.5″ W x 16″ H + 8″ shoulder drop
Clutch Dimensions: 8.5″ L x  2″ W x 5″ H

Metallic gold peeks through the die cuts in the smooth, black faux leather of this tote. I was worried this effect would look cheap, but I think it is well done and looks nice. The simple gold hardware keeps the look from being too busy. The removable strap hooks to rings on each side and can be adjusted from 41-47″ long. I’m not sure what the YOL on the decorative tag stands for but it’s cute.

I wish the bottom had feet to prevent wear. Maybe I can find some to attach…

purse back

The back is simple and has a zippered pocket for quick access items. I almost always slide my phone in here to keep it separated from my keys.

purse inside

Inside is nice and roomy with a zipper pocket on one side and two open pockets on the other side. It’s lined with a black and white stripe muslin and trimmed in faux leather. The whole purse zips closed which is a big plus for preventing “purse dump” in the car.

Here it is worn both with the removable long strap and with the handles. I like having both options.

clutch

I selected this tote for 2 reasons. First, I wore my previous black tote to the point that my mom intervened and suggested I replace it (it was looking rough). Thanks for the style check, ma! Second, I like that it comes with a matching clutch. It has the same die cut leather look as the tote but no gold underneath. The hardware and lining are the same shiny gold.

Magnetic snaps keep the flap closed and it comes with a detachable wrist strap. The interior has a zipper pocket dividing it into two slots. My phone fits perfectly into either one to keep it separated from other items. Also, here’s an awesome feature I’m just realizing now – there are two rings on either side so you can attach the long strap from the tote. It’s a clutch, wristlet, or crossbody bag! Talk about versatile.

The Verdict: This month, I couldn’t pass on this tote when Ivory Clasp sent my selection email. It’s not as fun as last month’s hot pink mini satchel, but it’s something I’ll get lots of use out of. Plus, it came with the super versatile little bag! I’m happy with the quality and I think the structured style will hold up well, even with the abuse I tend to inflict on my bags. Though I found a different color of this purse on Amazon for less, I’m still happy with what I received for a cost of $49.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You can definitely still sign up, but what bag you get depends on what you enter into your style profile and what’s available. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get to pick this same look, but you might get something else that’s just your style!

Value Breakdown: Ivory Clasp costs $49.00 per month. I couldn’t find this exact purse online (though I did find a different color), but the quality seems right on par with what I’d purchase for this price at a store.

  1. Cute bag!

  2. I have subscribed to this box for as long as it has existed I think and I have to say that while I am typically a higher end bag kind of girl (think Coach, Kate Spade, etc, not Gucci or Louis), I really likes the bags I get every quarter. They are much nicer in person than the pictures make them seem. I like being able to pic from a group of around 25 each time to fit my current needs. I’ve haven’t ever found one of mine cheaper though elsewhere.

  3. I didnt love this sub. I feel like if you just dont sub here for a few months, you can buy a really nice bag instead of these crappy bags. You’re gorgeous and can rock whatever you want. I can’t.

  4. This sub always leaves me scratching my head. The bags look very cheap and the sub itself is expensive compared to what you get, so I really don’t understand it.

  5. If you also tried Bolzano, you could give a comparison review. I’d be interested in that; and you’d have another bag!

    • I’ve tried both, and Bolzano is waaaaay better. Lower price, better quality, more variety. Ivory Clasp used to have better quality, and some name brands when I started, but about 3 months in they switched to this model where it’s in-house brands in very similar styles. I got so bored with their lack of variety that I cancelled. Fast forward about 6 months when I discovered Balzano, and I’m so much happier for almost $20 less.

  6. What a great purse that looks lovely on you (in the most non creepy of ways). I love that it is a faux leather but find it hard to approve of the fact that it was made in China, probably at a factory (according to my research on the Amazon gray one).

  7. Ughh. It’s hard not to feel deflated when the contents of a box can be purchased elsewhere for less than the cost of the box. I feel like part of the appeal of sub boxes is the value and this bag isn’t special enough to put an $18 value on the curation/new discovery aspect of it. Sigh…

    • Especially since you pick the purse! They don’t even curate!!!
I did try this sub when it first started and you couldn’t pick the bag. The style they sent me was way opposite of what I had input and I found the bag on ebay for under $10 under a different name, all they had done was rebrand it to their house name, not even to a real name brand lol. I stopped the sub, I can get generic or off brand purses for cheaper at several stores.
