Harney & Sons is a fine tea company that offers two tea of the month subscriptions: a Premium Loose Tea Box, and a Premium Sachet Tea Box.

This is a review of the Premium Sachet Tea of the Month box, which is $14 a month.

Harney & Sons Tea of the Month Premium Sachet December 2018 - Info 2

Each month you receive a small info sheet with a few details about the tea included and the steeping times.

A few individually packed bags of tea are included as well. I love throwing these in my purse to have on hand, as the tea selections at the coffee shop at school are a bit subpar.

This month’s tea came in an absolutely gorgeous gift box, and it feels like a holiday treat to have gotten TWO tea tins!

Holiday Tea

The first tea in the set is the holiday tea, which has a black tea base spiced with citrus, almond, clove, and cinnamon. This reminded me of a less-spiced version of chai, so I think the right play is to mix it with some milk and sugar. On its own, it fell a little flat, but that also could be because my steeping water wasn't hot enough. Overall, though, it was comforting, pleasant, and had a nice mouthfeel.

White Christmas Tea

This is a white tea base with notes of almonds, vanilla, and cardamom with accents of chamomile flowers- when I was making this cup, I noticed there are actual chamomile flower buds in the tea leaves! I think this needed a bit of honey to brighten up the vanilla and almond flavors, as I think the chamomile is the strong player mixing with the white tea. I don’t taste any cardamom at all. This wasn’t my favorite cup of tea, but it wasn’t bad.

The Verdict: Harney & Sons gave us a spectacular December box! Getting two tins of tea in that lovely gift box made me feel like I was unwrapping a present to myself. I also love the tins the tea comes in, as they are both sturdy and secure while being nice enough to leave out for presentation. For $14 I think this subscription would be a lovely gift to the tea lover in your life (or to yourself), and I think the tea itself is high quality and delicious.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? I am not positive but I think the January box is shipping!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $14 with free shipping and I received a gift set that retails for $21. That is like paying $7 for each tin of tea.

I got these 2 teas last year at Christmas and wasn’t very fond of the flavors as hot tea, but I tried brewing them as iced tea and liked them much better cold for some reason.
