CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! This was my third time receiving the lingerie subscription.

CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 - Card Opened Top

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. The level of detail just gives me the feeling that the people at CHC Vintage are really excited by what they do.

Also, I have to say it especially this month, but I feel like CHC Vintage is really paying attention to me. I remember saying pretty much those exact things about slips (I wear them sometimes and could use more) and I also note that the mismatch between my hip and waist sizes was taken into account here (basically, I have a stick figure with no hips, or you could also call it an XS hip measurement and a M waist measurement) as I specifically gave instructions about what to do with any garment fitted about the waist, and I feel like that was listened to as well.

CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 - Vintage Half Slip, Pink Top

First up, we have a light pink half slip. It has a (conservative) slit in the side and is in excellent condition. It also happens to fit. I have a dress I’ve been wearing with tights this winter that I’d love to carry over into spring and summer, sans tights, but really needed something to put under it, at least on bottom, and this is perfect.

CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 - Vintage Half Slip, Pink Tag Front

So you can see these are actual vintage garments, here’s a picture of the tag (and a Monkey photobomb…). The brand, Deena, is discussed in the card a little bit, and I am impressed (again) at how CHC Vintage knows their stuff when it comes to vintage clothing brands.

CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 - Vintage Half Slip, White with Lace Top

I am toying with the idea of wearing this under something where the lace would peek out a bit. I think it would look good with a bright, solid color (I have a green dress I am thinking of at the moment). I actually do have quite a few knee-length dresses (like, more than 20, because I went nuts shopping after I lost weight a few years ago). Most don’t need slips, but it really helps with a few of the more see-through ones, just for modesty purposes. This fabric is lightweight and would be comfortable even in summer.

CHC Vintage Lingerie December 2018 - Vintage Half Slip, White with Lace Tag Top

Here’s the tag for this one. Although the tag is in better shape than with the other tag, in both cases, the garments, themselves, look really good up close.

Verdict: I had only the vaguest notion of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Lingerie subscription, basically just the pictures on their website. Although I did give some preferences for things I might like, I didn’t strongly oppose any options (I mean, I still wear slips sometimes, even though I know they are much less popular than they once were), so there was still a good deal of surprise in my shipment, which is part of the fun. I feel like my preferences are pretty much always listened to, but this month, especially, felt like a good match to me, with practical, wearable pieces in styles that are hard to find these days. Everything from the length to the color to the type of garment is great.

When I hear vintage lingerie I think of cone bras. I’m happy to see they sent you pretty, functional pieces. It’s always so wonderful when they take your input and really pay attention.

Must have missed the first few reviews of this sub.. I’m going to go back and check them out!

I think they are listening very well. I was pretty wordy when sending preferences and I can tell they either remembered or, more likely, refer back to that before choosing each month’s piece(s).
