TokiBox December 2018 Review
TokiBox includes a card which normally describes a monthly theme. On the reverse is a list of what’s included with the retail values. This month the card just says “Merry Christmas.” Perhaps jolly ol’ St. Nick had a hand in selecting the items!
Vive Soft Baked Granola Bites – Chocolate Chip, 1.6oz — Retail Value $3.00, Listed Value $4.00
The mother-daughter duo who created Vive did so out of dissatisfaction with the sugary, overly-processed snacks on the shelves. Their chocolate chip soft-baked granola bites are made from only 8 non-GMO, vegan ingredients. As a vegan trying to rebuild my body post-chemo I’m always concerned about getting enough protein, so I was happy to see that these mildly sweet treats contain 4 grams! Subscribers this month also receive a coupon code for $5 off their first Vive order of $30 or more.
Loco Love Chocolate, Black Cherry & Raspberry, 1.05oz— Retail Value $3.55 ($4.95 AUD), Listed Value $4.00
You know when something looks so beautiful, you kinda feel bad eating it? That’s sort of where I was with this gorgeous ganache. Good thing (?) my stomach seems to have a more direct line to my brain than my eyes do because this sweet treat would have been a shame to miss out on! I loved that I recognized and could pronounce each of the high-quality ingredients, including cocoa butter, tahini, and Celtic salt. Extra bonus: according to the packaging, each chocolate purchased provides a child in Ethiopia one day of water.
Nib Mor Drinking Chocolate, Mint, 2 single-serving packets — Listed Value $1.00 each (buy a 6-pack for $7.99)
I don’t often indulge in it, but I sure do love a hot mug of cocoa on a cold day. And a mint-flavored cocoa? Oh my, call the ophthalmologist because my eyes just turned into giant red hearts. This drinking chocolate, as they call it, is really yummy and certified vegan, gluten-free, organic, and non-GMO. SCORE!
Delia Organics, Crème De La Crème Body Whip, 2fl oz — Retail Value $21.99
Now onto the beauty portion of the TokiBox! This month they included a gorgeous, super-thick, super-luscious jar of body whip. It is paraben-free and organic and contains shea fruit butter, Vitamin B5 (panthenol), and apricot kernel oil. It smells just like one of those cinnamon brooms you find around Halloween that instantly put you in a good mood. I am really in love with this creme.
Some Essentials Body Oil, Peppermint Vanilla Sugar, 8oz —Retail Value $10.99, Listed Value $11.99
Until fairly recently body oils were too heavy for me, but lately, my skin soaks them right up. This one feels amazing and like it’s really being absorbed versus just sitting on the surface of my skin. The base is comprised of grapeseed oil and almond oil. I was a little nervous that the peppermint oil would burn, but it gives a perfect, subtle sensation with just a hint of tingle.
RusticMaka Brush! Brush! Tooth Powder, 2oz —Retail Value $20.00
I’m on the slow-boat here, so this was my first foray into powdered tooth polish. I must admit, I’m a little unsure. The taste was pleasant enough, but after using it my mouth felt a little coated with a thin film. Maybe this is normal? I’ll give it a few more tries before ruling it out, but I’m not sure this one is for me.
The Verdict: The products in this month’s Tokibox were really nice. I’m sure the tooth powder is a great product for those who are used to using such a thing, however, I’m not sure it’ll find its way into my daily repertoire. My favorite item was the Crème De La Crème Body Whip – it’s so decadent! Using a combo of retail values and list prices where retail values weren’t available, the contents of this box add up to an estimated total of $61.53. I think this month’s box is a decent value for $34.95, including free shipping.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the January box. Order by the 11th of the month to receive that month’s box.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.95 USD, which means that each of the 7 items (counting each cocoa packet separately) in the box has an average cost of $4.99.
