JoahBox November 2018 Review

When you first subscribe to JoahBox, there are four drop-down menus to customize your experience:

You will choose your birth month (perhaps for a birthday surprise?), skin tone (ranging from "very fair" to "dark brown"), your skin type, and if you'd prefer to receive more skincare, makeup, or both.

There's an info booklet with each box.

Open it up to find all of the boxes items with descriptions, how to use, and "Joah Tips".

The back urges you to share photos on Instagram using #Joahbox.

I also received a Joah Box playing card.

Eco Beyond Classic Hand Cream Gel in Waterfall, 1.01 oz. - Retail Value $6.99

It’s always nice to get fancy little hand creams this time of year to keep in my car, purse, desk, or anywhere in reach. My hands get super dry in the winter so I usually have some every place I spend time (like next to my bed or the couch). This petite tube is perfect for a travel bag and happens to smell LOVELY. It’s made with rosemary and bergamot a replenishes my hands just enough so they don’t feel dry and crackly.

Chica Y Chico One Kill Eyeliner Liquid Brush Pen in Black - Retail Value $6.90 (found here for $6.56)

I haven’t been using eyeliner much lately since I’ve been going for a more natural makeup look, but when I do wear it, I go liquid. I find this liner easy to apply with the medium thickness brush and it reminds me of my Kat von D liner of the same type. It’s easy to create a thinner or thicker line just by adding pressure or adjusting the angle in which you’re applying it at. It also stays put once it dries until you get it wet to wash off. I’m not one for any sort of waterproof makeup anyhow, so this works for me.

LeeGeehaam Aqua Care Master Deep & Quick Mask - Retail Value $3.50

This mask was reallly dripping with serum (made with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C derivative) but once I got it on my face it stayed put. I left it on for a little over 15 minutes and when I removed it my face was expectedly very much full of the serum. I ended up wiping a good portion off but did leave some that I massaged in. I did this before bed so I didn't feel the need to do my normal evening skin routine and when I woke up some 9 hours later my face still felt plump and super hydrated.

China Y Chico One Shot Eye Palette in Wine Burgundy - Retail Value $14.90 (found here for $14.16)

This little eyeshadow palette has six colors that include two matte nudes, three shimmers, and a gold glitter. While I prefer a full matte palette, I have two large ones already, so this lends itself nicely as one to have on the go. The two nude matte colors are perfect for me, while the deep wine red, purple, and pink shimmer will make my eyes pop for an evening out with my girls. That glittery gold will really kick it up a notch if I feel like going full-glam. There’s a bit of fallout on a couple of the colors, but overall this is a pretty decent little palette.

Here are swatches for the palette and liner.

Beauty Bakery Haute Cuisine Premium Snail Eye Cream, 1.05 oz. - Listed Retail Value $16.00

Ahhh yes, Haute Cuisine is back! I received their snail serum a couple of months ago and it was my favorite item of the month. This time, they’ve sent an eye cream that also uses my beloved snail secretion filtrate. It has a pleasant scent and a white basic cream consistency. The tube boasts that its anti-wrinkle as well as brightening. Since I’ve had such good luck with the snail facial serum, I’m pretty pumped to try out this eye cream and see it works its snail magic.

Verdict: JoahBox this month was packed with some great stuff. I loved getting a sister product to the snail product I loved from September, and the sheet mask was a really good one. The eyeliner will get used and the eyeshadow seemed alright but I have larger palettes that I'll use first. Hand cream is also always welcome in these cold chapped months, so I'd call this box a success!
