Frank And Oak Style Plan for Men December 2018 Review

When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). You’ll also be able to set a budget for different types of clothing that could be included.

Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up shows you the items that have been selected for you. You can switch out the chosen items for others on this page if you desire. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more or less than three if you’d like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it’s a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.

We forgot to log on this month and pick items, so we ended up with the original 3 items picked by the stylist. Let's see what they chose for John!

Here’s the invoice for the three pieces John ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn’t know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you’ll see on their packaging and paperwork!)

discount promo card bonus canvas bag

This month, Frank And Oak is giving subscribers to Style Plan up to 30% off the collection plus extra goodies, like this canvas bag.

Machine Washable Merino Sweater in Dark Green Heather, L - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $69.50

When John unpacked this, I knew it was a winner. He has this sweater in heathered burgundy already and loves it. I think he loves this dark green even more! The 100% Merino wool is machine washable and, as long as you don't use heat, won't shrink. John loves how soft and smooth it is and that it's lightweight.

Checkered Flannel Shirt in Dark Olive, L - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $59.50 (currently on sale for $59.99)

Wow! Another winner for John. I love this color combo on him. The fabric is a 100% cotton flannel that has a smooth finish. There is plenty of room for John to comfortably move around and to layer with other pieces. The one chest pocket blends in so well, you can hardly tell it's there. This is a great option for John since it provides warmth without being thick or heavy.

And, here's the sweater layered under the flannel. It's awesome that both of these pieces coordinate so well together. And, because the materials are soft and not bulky, this outfit is super warm without being uncomfortable.

pants folded pants worn front pants worn side pants worn back

The Newport Straight Chino in Glen Plaid, 34x34 - Retail Price $79.50, Member Price $69.50 (currently on sale for $39.99)

When John walked out of our room with these on he said: "Are these leggings?" Ha. These are seriously tight through the hips and thighs. The fit issue is strange since he has several pairs of these exact pants in different colors that fit great. As with all the pants he has from F+O, we would have to have these hemmed to his length if we were to keep them. Otherwise, I don't think he digs the pattern so much. He mentioned having a hard time trying to find tops to pair with them and they're just a little too dressy feeling. We will return these using F+O's easy return process and be refunded.

The Verdict: Since John started receiving Frank And Oak's style plan, his wardrobe has not only improved in style but also in fit and quality. He likes the fabrics, colors, and comfort factor of their clothing and that they take measures to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. I'm impressed with how spot-on the sweater and flannel were for John's style since he didn't make his own selections this month. I think that keeping his style profile up to date and reviewing his selections gives the stylists a good idea of what to pick. The price vs. quality is great and we've had positive experiences with the Frank And Oak Customer Service when we have had questions.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the $25 styling fee plan, boxes ship automatically on the 1st of the month, and you can log in 2 days before shipment to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!

Value Breakdown: This month's member price was $198.50 for the three items John received. The regular retail total is $238.50. He will be returning the pants, so he'll get a refund of $69.50 bringing his member price total to $129 for two pieces.  Since he is keeping at least one item, the $25 styling fee was waived.

Take John out for a nice dinner or buy him a pack of his favorite beer for allowing the “leggings” pictures to be posted online. What a trooper!

Wow. Those pants are a hot mess. Poor John. A good sport indeed. However, that sweater is just gah.
